Hello all! Double the fun today with two more Christmas cards! First up, I used the inner die from the Poinsettia Mini Background and cut three panels across. There is a very thin strip of card between each, but the centre covers it up. I left a large margin and added mounting foam to the back of it. I added a strip of white pearls all the way around the edge (I cut the double strips down the middle to use a single row all the way around). I mounted it over our Ruby Red card. For the focal element, I cut the Holly Octagonal die in both white and black and offset the black behind it as a shadow. I cut the centre of the Ornate Holly Framed Peace die and added a red backing then cut the inside of it to create a frame. I added mounting foam and raised it over another piece of white card. I cut the peace die in both white and black and shadowed it and glued them into the centre of the frame. Both pieces were added to the centre of the card. I added pearls to the flower centres then completed the card with white, red and black mats. The finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x 9 1/4" in size. Scroll down for card number two.
Card number two uses our new Midnight Blue pearl card (I know it looks like it is black in my picture, but when you scroll down you can see the shimmer better in the other pics.) I cut the outer die from the Poinsettia Mini Background this time in white. I backed it with the Midnight Blue Pearl card and then cut the centre out to create a frame. I added mounting foam to raise it for dimensions. I cut the Holly Octagonal die (same as in the first card) and cut it in half and mounted it to the insides of the frame sides. I stamped a sentiment and centred it in between the die cut and mounted the frame over it. As an accent, I cut the Christmas Rose die in white and added the centres in a pale pink and cut the leaves out of a ale green. I seated the flowers on some white satin ribbon and mounted them in the lower corner of the card. I completed it with white and blue mats to match and of course my usual paper piercing done with my piercing ruler. The finished dimensions are 5 3/4" x 7" in size. Two completely different cards done with the same basis dies. I hope this will give you a few ideas for your own cards going forward.
I forgot to mention that I am doing the One Day Special tonight at 8pm on Hochanda. It will be the first set of shows featuring my Christmas 2016 die release, so if you need some inspiration for your festive cards, you shall have it! LOL All for now, Sue x

Gorgeous cards Sue, just lovely. No 1 just edges it for me, the flowers swung it.
ReplyDeleteJune, you are braver than me, I would go for full knock out, hope pre assess goes well.
Norah, it's wonderful hearing how Harry and Stephs Lottie are doing, keep the stories coming girls.
Tina, it is very sad to hear that Mick has lost so much weight after all your efforts, he is a tall man so that weight is way off for him. We will always been here to comfort and support you.
Tina T, I hope Peters treatment goes well. I was speaking to my friend at work and her husband is responding well to his treatment, and you are also not well, take care.
Big hugs to Tracey, hope you feel a bit more settled now.
Elaine, as always keeping my fingers crossed Andrews treatment starts soon.
Hugs to all.

Love both cards, but I would really must add the first cards mini poinsettia to my list.
ReplyDeleteMorning Sue. Two absolute beauties that I just can't separate - rather like the Holly Ornate frame set that clung onto the Rectangle Noble die set last week at my craft shop ! I really love the delicacy of the holly dies this year Sue, there is just something that makes me smile when I see samples made with the background, frame and tags, they are really pretty, in fact they could be used for winter birthday cards too, I tend to make some of my December birthday cards a little wintery so these would be ideal with added bling like iced snow and diamond sprinkles, can't forget the bling on frosty looking holly now can we lol. Oh Sue, what ARE you doing to my head, I really HAVE to save for the rest of the Peirced Noble dies, and you keep tempting me with all these festive and brand new collections !! Lol Maybe I should try hypnotherapy to make sure I'm not tempted to buy anything else until I've got what I need rather than want, what do you think ?
ReplyDeleteIt's my market day Sunday, still have cards to re-stock to replace those that sold last month, and Arthur has decided to strike my left hand which makes using my mangle incredibly uncomfortable, and my grip virtually impossible, so goodness knows how much extra time it's going to put on making what I need to (it takes us a decent amount of time to make just one card when our hands are less painful let alone when you have painful claws to work with) !! Oh well chuntering and woe is me'ing won't change a dam thing so I need to get my back bone sorted and 'man up'
I'll send my Friday hugs send my love, and look forward to your shows 😊 xxx
Both cards are gorgeous
ReplyDeleteCarol

ReplyDeleteMorning Sue and all Wilsonettes, I love double days and you have produced 2 stunning creations, I like both of them in their own right so am not going to choose.
ReplyDeleteTina and Mick - it is such a shame that Mick has lost this weight as I know he has been trying to keep it on what with all the Macdonalds and chocolate etc., I hope you can have the conversation and work with him over the weekend so that he does accept the peg being fitted, the drs. would not suggest this if it was not necessary. It is also very hard for you so you must try and take more care of yourself. Sending special hugs to you both xxxxx
Norah, Harry sounds quite a handful, but they grow up so quick as we all know, before you know where you are he will be opening the doors for you. xx
Tracy keep up the good work xx
Elaine, Andrew - hope the hospital visit for swabs etc. went well and the treatment starts soon. Yes Tuesday afternoon is the pre-assessment.
P in wales - you can watch Hochanda anytime on your PC, tablet, mobile as long as you have the internet, I know it is not ideal but it is better then nothing, I don't have freeview on my TV so always watch it on my PC.
Tina T and Peter - I am pleased to hear that Peter is much brighter know that you know what is going on, sending lots of hugs xx Also I didn't realise that you needed a knee replacement as well, I thought that everyone had the tourniquet whilst they were under, I know when I went to the joint school (where they tell you all what is going on etc.) they said that it is used to stem some of the blood flow whilst they do the op, which is why lots of people have a lot of bruising afterwards, I know my friend earlier this year had it done and she had a massive bruise all different colours right round her leg and she was told it was due to the tourniquet and is quite natural and nothing to worry about. I hope you have the date soon so that you can be without pain......says me who is so scared of mine which is coming up fast.
Pam, I will definitely go for full knock out, I don't want to know anything about it.
Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

Good afternoon Sue and the Wilsonettes,
ReplyDeleteOh Sue, how could you be so cruel as put two equally stunning cards up for us to choose from, becuase i have given up and give them equal first place, lol. I love the dies that you have made this year for christmas especially ALL the ones with holly, poinsettias or snowflakes or all in one go, they are so stunning but i need to wait until after my wee holiday down to Carlisle to meet my beautiful friends again next month, i just wish that the two days were two weeks as we have such a fantastic time. Thank you flower for two stunning works of art to brighten up the weekend, take care lovely lady and i will be recording you tonight as i will be out.
Girls, my lovely little cherub can already reach the door handles in my house because he is just so tall for his age. We have had to put him in some 2-3 years old clothes just for the length and put elastic in the waist where there isn't already as even with his nappy he can't keep them up without it. I am going to look out Rory's old braces from when he was little to try and solve part of the problem. He is starting to speak quite a bit now and his favourite is "Ready, Steady" but he can't say "go" yet which is the easiest of all the words in my mind. I got an 8ft swimming pool for him in the sale in Debenhams for him for next year, but his Grumpy says that it is going to his house and not ours as he doesn't want it killing off his grass. Now this is gardener of the year - not, as it takes him all his time to go out and cut the grass never mind anything else, so i find that funny, never mind it will keep the wee fella cool in the summer, but at least along with his clothes and wee bits of toys that i have for him, that is Christmas sorted out, just the Rory, Auld greetin' face, Ryan and his parents to get for as i have Kirstens in as well.
Well i won't say that it's all that nice a day up here but at least at the moment it isn't raining, but you can definitely tell the change in temperature today. I will send love and hugs to all Wilsonettes that need or could do them,
love and crafty hugs
Norah (Glenochil)
Hi Sue
ReplyDeleteTwo lovely Christmas cards today, using the same dies. I must say No 1 is my favourite.

Hi sue.
ReplyDeleteTwo beautiful stunners but the blue sparkly card for me just pipped it as my favourite. Can't wait for ur shows this weekend. I made the red star card after watching the ally pally demo. I'd forgotten I had that red glitter from last year am not used it. Have to say it looks way better in real life than on TV lol xx
Both Tina's and Elaine. Thinking of u all every day sending healing thoughts and warm wishes x
Norah had a giggle at ur gardener of the year comment. That's something my hubby would say but it's me who actually does the garden as he has severe hay fever.
Diane. Maureen and pam and Laine and Yvonne and anyone else I've forgot Thanks for the daily hugs they go a long way xx
Love to all who needs it xx
Hi Sue. Two really lovely cards today - I can't decide which one I like best. I particularly like red and white for Christmas but I also think the dark blue and white together look really smart. I do have most of these dies so I really must give these cards a try.

ReplyDeleteAfternoon Sue. Its that time of the week again where you show us two of your stunning cards. They are both beautiful in there own right. The holly dies are gorgeous but No2 does it for me because of that navy card and those fantastic roses. You are giving me some great ideas for my christmas cards and to do some napkin rings for the table at christmas. Looking forward to your shows tonight and tomorrow but my purse is having a bit of a wobble after been opened so much after buying so many of your new dies but i am sure there is something that i will NEED from your shows LOL. ReplyDeleteHi Sue, two absolutely beautiful lovely cards it's difficult to pick a favourite, so I won't, telly set to record at 8 o'clock so I don't miss a thing, hugs to all Johanna
ReplyDeleteThey are both rather gorgeous Sue.xx
ReplyDeleteGood evening lovely Sue and her crafty crew!
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome couple of days for creative excellence, whilst I didn't have an opportunity to comment yesterday I did have time to watch the tutorial in between packing and leaving for the airport, and all I can say is that I was blown away. The design and the colour palette used were exceptional and I will be making every effort to recreate this little beauty....just have to get all the dies involved first:-)
I love nothing more than seeing your festive offerings so today was a double delight. I contemplated long and hard over my favoured design and could find nothing to separate them, their exquisiteness is incomparable and the dies used are gorgeous. I love how you have used the holly octagonal die as an accent on card no. 2. More Christmas cards please Sue, I can't get enough of them:-)
Well, I'm back home in Stirling safe and sound with only a few minor scars from my stay at Pixie Palace. Just when I thought the trip was going to plan, the flight was on time and I arrived in Edinburgh with time to spare, the special service for the disabled let us down big time....we were left on the plane for over an hour waiting anxiously for assistance to arrive:-( By the time they appeared I was flagging big time but the sight of my brother waiting in arrivals was more than welcome. I got home at 8.15pm after over six hours travel and collapsed in a crumpled heap totally exhausted by the experience. Revived sufficiently enough to welcome my babies, Brodie was his usual tarty self and offered cuddles on tap but Darcey gave a salutary purr before remembering to make me suffer by disappearing outside in disgust. I thought her disdain would extend into the night but all it took was a good old brush and cuddle and she settled down to sleep with me like an angel all night long undisturbed:-) Boy, I missed them.
Just for a change I'm going to be nice to Yvonne and thank her for being such a great host. She provided delectable goodies on tap as well as decent eye candy but most of all she enabled me to meet my hero Sue and for that I will be eternally grateful.....and despite her threats I spent very little time under the stairs and on the naughty step:-)
Gosh, it's eight already and I don't want to miss Sues show so I will wish you all a good night and I will catch up more with you all tomorrow xxxx

ReplyDeleteTwo most stunning Christmas cards.....if only I could make them as beautiful as this.....thanks Sue.....Hochanda sent me a letter said they were finishing on the present channel on 19 Sept and back of Freeview 85 on 1 Oct on their own dedicated channel, in between to watch them on internet......luv Ursula xx
ReplyDeleteTwo lovely cards today Sue. Thank you. Will have to watch your show on catchup. Looking forward to that.
ReplyDeleteHi Sue. WOW !!! Absolutely stunning !!! I really love both cards. I think if I had to choose a favourite it would be the first one. I think it is really beautiful. I love all the dies you have used for both cards. Great colours to. The first card looks very traditional which is my favourite kind of Christmas card. Thank you for sharing your stunning cards today. I really enjoyed your show on Hochanda tonight Sue. You were fab Sue. I can't wait to see more of your shows on Hochanda tomorrow. Two really lovely cards. I've used the octagonal holy frame on some of my cards this year. It looks very elegant and cuts so easily!

ReplyDeleteTwo stunning Christmas cards I keep trying to have ago in between looking after mick have limited space for crafting due to all the equipment he needs I have lost my large table and coffee table so have to stand in the kitchen or sit on sofa so can only do little bits at a time
Mick had a restless night due to the workout the physio gave him so he's having a very sleepy day today not eaten anything today but there's still later, the peg is a feeding peg that is surgically put direct into the stomach to put feeds and suppliments in when not in mood to eat he has said if he only has to be in hospital a couple of days he will have it fitted
Thank you for all your kind words and wishes I sure need my friends right now
Pam enjoy your holiday and to all my friends I send you all huge hugs
Happy crafting
Love and huge hugs to everyone
