Beautiful Day

Hello there my crafty friends!  A little fire and ice for you today!  I just love this technique and can't stay away from it for very long! LOL  I started by cutting the decorative inner die from the Dorado Gemini die into the side edges of a piece of coconut white card.  I then covered the front with a sticky adhesive sheet and applied Summer Meadow gilding flakes to the cut out areas on the back of the piece (they show through the front when turned over. Next I trimmed the edges even using just the outer cutting edge to the Gemini die.  I peeled the backing paper away and covered the front with Iced Snow.  I cut a thin black shadow piece and glued it behind and attached the entire piece to a larger white piece of card.  I added four pearl decorative corners to the back piece.  Next I cut the Maggie die in black.  I covered a piece of black card with a sticky adhesive sheet and cut out just the outline of the Maggie die.  I peeled the backing off and attached the decorative die to it, then gilded the exposed adhesive with Summer Meadow gilding flakes.  I cut a circle aperture in the centre of it then added mounting foam to the back.  I stamped my sentiment (from the Fabulous sentiment stamp set) and centred the Maggie die over it, then trimmed away the excess card.  I mounted this piece in the centre of my card, added my usual mats and layers to finish it off.  The finished dimensions are 6 3/4" x  7 3/4" in size.  All for now, Sue x

  16. Morning dear Sue. Hope my Sunday smiles got to you at some point yesterday.
Today's card is sheer decadence, it's amazing how guilding flakes can bring so much luxury to a few pieces of plain card. If you were to put the same exact samples side by side, one with the fire and ice and one without, I wonder how recognisable the without would look...... I know what I'm trying to say just can't explain myself lol I'm sure Beverly S from the fb group could do what's in my head and put both side by side to show how the fire and ice can take the same card and dies from an already pretty card to a real decadent luxury gift for that special day, think I will stop there as I'm sounding like I've lost the plot !
Hope you start to feel a little better as the day goes on dear Pam, take a good rest and look after yourself xx
Hoping you have a good day Sue, sending hugs xx

  22. GM Sue. Love the fire and ice look. I tried your heated pearls technique for the first time yesterday. Good fun and the effect is interesting. I did one with mica and another using pixie powders. Not sure I used enough glue or powders or heated it for long enough. It bubbled as you said it would. Some bubbles flattened back but others did not so it looks quite warty! Any tips on a future post when you use it in one of your cards would be appreciated. Yours looks flat mine is definitely not!

I forget how opulent gilding wax can make a card. Fire and ice is so gorgeously sparkly. Not tried that yet but it is another of those technique's that are on a long to do list. This is such a sumptuous card and looks incredibly extravagant and far too expensive for the likes of someone like me x
Thanks Sue for another beautiful work of art x
My heart goes out to the victims and their families in Florida. Such a heartless tragedy which just makes no sense at all. Such a dark act of wickedness and it saddens me to see such a mindless act of violence that can result in so much heartbreak. This is something that is happening too often.
TRACY and dad, TINA and Mick, ELAINE and Andrew - warm hugs to all of you x
NORAH - hope you have a healthy Harry before Thursday x
PAM -I know it is really difficult to behave and do as you are told is difficult because we are always right but on this occasion you need to put you feet up. Rest up girl x
MARIA - Bamse kram right back at you. I'm going to need one. I will be persevering with another Skype with nobby no mates shortly. Been trying to prepare myself mentally and physically. I feel sorry for Laine not having any friends but it makes it really tough for me having to put all my energy into being nice to her. Anyway I will carry on being a martyr in the hope that I will be rewarded in heaven x
JACKIE - I so feel for your daughter - gentle hugs x
LORRAINE - how are your poor feet? Huggles x
WHEELY - hope you're OK. Sending love x
Best go now to prepare for the exhausting task ahead of me. I just wish Laine was not so needy and didn't play the sympathy card with me!!
Can I ask am I the only miserable person who is not happy bout the football taming over on the telly?

Yvonne, I agree with you over the terrible event in Orlando. My youngest daughter has taken it very badly as she is gay so feels a connection. Makes my blood boil that gun activists are still defending their rights to bear arms. No one needs automatic weapons. Sickening.
Well done Andrew and keep on improving xxx
Hope Mick and Tracy's Dad are doing well.
I am sorry to hear your daughter's fibro is playing up Jackie. I find it's better to try and keep going even if it's at a reduced level but sometimes bed is the only answer.
I made two cards yesterday and I was pleased with how they turned out. Today I decorated a mdf babygro to go into Harrison's room.
Granddaughter and her partner are getting the keys to a flat on Thursday.. it's in the next town over so my daughter will really miss them but hopefully it will ease some of the strains.
Cooked up some cinnamon rolls today as they were prepared ones and had been in the fridge a while. They were scrummy but no good for my diet.
    Will sign off now.
