Hi crafters! Today's giveaway card is one that I had planned to do as a demo, but I don't think that I actually had a chance to do it (if my memory serves me!) I started by cutting the Cathedral Background out of coconut white card. I used the larger oval to cut an aperture in the centre. I sprayed the back of it with spray glue and added a piece of wisteria card to back it with. I used the slightly smaller oval to cut another opening in the centre to create a frame. I stamped my sentiment on white card, then embossed it for texture before mounting it behind the frame opening. Using the open petal Orange Blossom set, I cut several flowers out of Iris card and placed three larger ones at the bottom of the frame and three at the top of the frame to accent it. I created a larger frame for the card by using the actual Cathedral background die and cutting around it with a sharp exacto knife. I trimmed the sides on my paper cutter to create an inch border on the frame and added mounting foam to raise it for dimension. I completed the card with a pierced mat, a wisteria mat, a thin iris card mat and a final white mat. The finished dimensions are 7 1/4" x 9 1/4" in size. Leave a comment on this post and you will be entered into the drawing to win this card. I will announce the winner on Saturday's blog post. All for now, Sue x

Hi Sue
ReplyDeleteLove the soft colours used and the cathedral background is beautiful. Have to agree with P in Wales about cutting out with a knife, I tried to cut out the centre of the Canadian background and it was a disaster, can't cut a straight line to save my life! Thank you for the excellent tip in your latest You Tube video about cutting the Zigzag die as I was struggling with that too.
Tracy, hope the after effects of chemo aren't as bad this time and only one more to go, so stay strong
Hugs and best wishes everyone
Pat

Ooh I love this card, and i must get that die as I love the detail in the corners.
ReplyDeleteI am still trying to catch up with buying dies from the previous collection so this I will get on pay day next week.
I must say thankyou as you have given me an idea for a card I need to do for my uncle so that is one excuse I can give hubby as to why I must have this die.
As soon as I say I need to make a card he replies ' how much is it going to cost me to make '
But I remind him that it was his idea to make my cards as a distraction and a way to get through my grief.
So it is all his fault lol
I hope you are having a better day today Sue despite it being early days
Hugs

Lovely card. I love the open flowers. :)
ReplyDeleteGood afternoon dearest Sue and her crafty crew!
ReplyDeleteAnother week and another fabulous giveaway! As always an exceptionally designed card using some fabulous dies, I particularly lust after the Orange Blossom dies they are such a pretty shape. I love the colour palette, the iris and wisteria is a combination that I wouldn't have thought of combining but it works beautifully. The Cathedral background is another die that I need to add to my "family", but I feel so far behind that I wouldn't know where to begin:-( Nevermind, it's a life of crime for me then to fund my addiction:-)
Just taken my babies to the vet for their annual boosters and it was an eye watering amount- how many dies could I have bought I found myself wondering:-) but seriously, they are worth every penny and more. Got the sobering news that they are both needing to lose weight and have to go on a diet:-( I left feeling that I had abused them with kindness! We are going to have to measure out their biscuits and wean them off their prawn addiction, it's not going to be easy I'm afraid. I'm wondering how long Darcey will be giving us dirty looks for putting her through the trauma and humiliation......
Thanks for the kind thoughts about my Dad, he is still being given little or no chance but he has stabilised at the moment- part of me has to prepare myself for the inevitable but there is a glimmer of hope since he is hanging on that I can't help but cling to even though his quality of life paralysed down one side and unable to speak would be appalling. We do get selfish at times like these when we are faced with the prospect of losing someone we love. The hardest part is the waiting game.....
Tracy, glad you are initially okay, hope the knock on effects will be minimal for you- it must be such a relief to know that you are almost done with this stage of your treatment and hey, if buying a few more dies helps you through it then you go for it! I wonder if they have a collective name for a group of people who collect dies like they do for stamp collectors? Should they just call us Wilsonettes:-)
Wheely Bad, those blasted migraines! I can think of some far better reasons to be flat on your back for extended periods:-) Hope the meds kick their ass sooner rather than later, hugs to you and Billyxxx
Lorraine, hope you feel a bit better after your physio, you really have a lot to contend with physically so concentrating on the positives must get hard at times. Sending cuddlesxxxx
Yvonne, how are you honey? Is Margorie making any improvements?Missing your cheek and acerbic wit my dear, I need something to make me giggle and you never disappointxxxx
To all who are in pain physically or emotionally I send my love and cuddles for a brighter futurexxx
Special hugs to our dear Sue during her grieving process, also to Beth, Linda, Rebecca, Pam, P, Jan, Maria, Theresa, Saba and Melodyxxx
Off to distract with A place in the winter sun, a bit of escapist tv....
Love and crafty hugs
Laine1972xxxxx
