Good Sunday morning all! Today's card is a bit of an ombre sort, as I am quite taken with that trend. I have seen it absolutely everywhere of late and I think it is especially pretty in cards. I started the card by cutting the Intertwining Circle Striplet without the outside cutting edge three times in a piece of coconut white card to create the background. I selected three varying shades of aqua coloured card (from my leftover stash box). This is a great card to use up some of those smaller bits you have. I cut three strips and covered each one with a sticky adhesive sheet. I peeled the backing paper off and placed them behind each of the striplets in order from lightest to darkest. Next I coated them with Diamond Snow from the front of the background piece so all of the exposed adhesive caught the glitter. I used the Double Pierced Noble Squares (both sets) to create a layered frame with white and aqua card and placed it over the background. I used the Grace die to cut a decorative frame and backed it in white and seated it over a stamped sentiment, then attached it in the centre of the card. I used the same three shades of aqua card to cut some small flowers from the Orange Blossom complete petal set. I glued them around my sentiment as a small accent. I completed the card in my usual pierced matting and layering. The finished dimensions are 7 3/4" x 7 3/4" in size.
Just a quick reminder that I will be doing the drawings for the winning dies tomorrow morning, then posting the winners in a separate post in the afternoon. There is still time to add any comments to posts you may have missed if you do it before Monday morning! Don't forget to check back in the afternoon too, to see if your name has been drawn! All for now, Sue x

Morning Sue,
ReplyDeleteI really love this card it is so delicate and fresh with your choice of green card peeking out. A very suitable layout for those men in our lives.
Tracy, You have come so far in your journey, I admire your stoical comments and courage. Radiotherapy is a doddle after the chemo. Just look out for the fatigue, it can hit you at any time although usually about a week after your first treatment. So make time for R&R, and don't try to push yourself too hard, if you feel tired take an extra nap. I know I had to.
Daily thoughts and prayers to Melody Francis a & Molly.
Comfort blanket hugs to all in pain & discomfort, may your day treat you kindly.
Love & hugs

DeleteIt's good to know these things. It has been hard for me sometimes as I'm not used to resting lol and I've had to learn to take it easy!! Which for me was frustrating.
But it's good to know so many of u have came out the other side of it and I will too xx
I am really taken with this striplet and this card shows it off beautifully. Thanks Sue.

Good morning Sue and all. What a pretty, fresh card. I too am a fan of both the striplet and the ombre technique- definitely one to try it is so effective. Good luck to everyone for the draw and thank you once more Sue for your generosity. Take care all. Hugs, Theresa x
ReplyDeleteLovely card. I love it's simplicity. As effective as anything complicated!

Hi Sue, a beautiful CAS card and I think the aqua shades suit it perfectly. I will try and make something similar so will have to root around in my 'bit box' for toning pieces.
ReplyDeleteWheely Bad - thank you for the explanation, it seems that Google rules the world!
Feeling sad today with the loss of Sir Terry Wogan. He was part of most of my adult life and his last breakfast show was on the same day that I retired although he was much older than I :) He will be much missed.

Hi Sue,
ReplyDeleteWhat a fab card and as you say a great way to use up some of our odd bits. I really should throw some of mine out but you never know do you and this is definitely one of those cards that would benefit from a rummage through the scrap box.

Hi Sue,
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous, I shall be doing something like this lots of times that's for sure. That particular striplet sings to me, I just love it.
I shall be there tomorrow pm, eyes peeled and hoping. But congratulations to the winners, whoever they are.
Have a good Sunday.

His Sue, a gorgeous card. Your die is beautiful, very 60's looking and I love the colours.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card Sue, love the change in lovely colour tone and the sentiment really stands out in tht gorgeous frame

Hi Sue,
ReplyDeleteWhat a coincidence. I need to make 2 Birthday Cards today and was going to use this die. I was wondering if it would overlap to make a continuous design and it looks as though it doesn't although the way you have made the card makes it easier to but different coloured card behind it without the joins showing.
Love the card and thank you for the inspiration.
Lisbeth
ReplyDeleteHi Sue
Beautiful card I do love your neat frames this is a love idea really like this card.

ReplyDeleteJaneF.Wales.
Oh wow, not seen this hombre effect before, must have missed something !!!!! It looks amazing, another project to try, the list is getting longer and longer.....This makes such a beautiful background for a beautiful card as always Sue....thank you....luv Ursula xx
ReplyDeleteVery pretty card - so effective
ReplyDeleteDoreen R
The colors are so soothing and fresh looking. I'm ready for the spring-like colors. Your background die cuts are very nice...I believe, once again, this die would work for the guy cards. The tiny flowers add just the right touch...really pretty.
ReplyDeleteBTW...played with my new embossing folder and all the cardstock weights worked beautifully, but I think my favs were the 100# and 110# cardstocks. I like the sturdiness and the detail of the ef was a tiny bit more pronounced...in my humble opinion.
Jan D., Florida, USA
Happy Sunday Sue,
ReplyDeleteI love this technique (the hombre effect) also you know I love this aqua card. I also like this Striplet die, all in all Sue your card is lovely.
Lots of things on my wish list now.

Good afternoon Sue and the Wilsonettes,
ReplyDeleteUp until now i haven't been taken on with this die Sue, it hasn't been on my most wanted list but todays card is so beautiful in the varying shades of soft greeny/blue that i could see myself wanting this die. Ilove how it has been made into a sort of picture with the frame around the outside of it. I love how you have brought the varying colours that you have used to make the flowers bring out the background colours that bit more. Yes all in all i love this beautiful card, it is stunning flower and i can see making it up for so many different occasions so thank you for yet another WOW.
Have a good day everyone and hugs to all my Wilsonette friends that could really be doing with one and even if you only just want someone to care, im sending hugs your way.

ReplyDeleteHombre: a man, especially one of a particular type.
"the Raiders quarterback is one tough hombre"
ombré: Having tones of colour that shade into each other, graduating from light to dark:
We all know what you mean though ;)

Hi, Sue,
ReplyDeleteWhat a delightful card today. I've wanted to try the ombre effect for quite some time, both in my card making and my jewellery making but just haven't been able to manage to get it just as I want it. I have to say that using the different shaded cardstock is a LOT easier than using inks, I don't know why I hadn't thought of something so simple lol. I love the dies you've used, really pretty and a great finished project. Thanks so much for sharing with us.

Hi Sue,
ReplyDeleteLove this card it's beautiful.I just recently received this die and I will definitely try this idea and colors are awesome.
Thank you Sue!!!
At first look I thought you'd created the ombré effect with inks - surprised on reading further that you've used 3 different tones of aqua card! The glittering really makes them 'blend'.
ReplyDeleteI love this card Sue - and what's more I have got both of these dies, so I am going to try this out. Keeping my fingers crossed for the draw tomorrow, the same as everyone else here, I am sure. Gilly R of Cornwall xxx
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card Sue!
ReplyDeleteI love the graduated colours and wouldn't have thought to use different shades of card instead of trying to blend the inks together.
This is my type of card!!!!
Hi Sue,
ReplyDeleteLove your choice of colours. Like Barbara I too thought it had been done with inks. The circles striplet is so effective a change from lacy designs..
