Hi blogggers! I thought I would pick a card for today's giveaway that isn't quite as girlie as usual. I love flowers on my cards, but sometimes I think they are very pretty without them too. This card feels that way to me. I started by embossing a piece of milk card with the Bed of Roses folder to add texture to the background. Next I cut four of the Petite Arched Adornment in milk card and glued them into the corners. Although it is tone on tone, it still adds a nice detail. For the focal element, I cut the outer part of the Lisbon die in mocha card. I used milk card for the next section of the Lisbon die and cut it into a frame opening. I glued the mocha Lisbon die to the top of it and added mounting foam to the back. I cut the next die in the set in blush card using just the decorative piece with a centre die cut out to create a frame. I stamped my sentiment covering it with a sticky adhesive sheet. I removed the backing paper and coated it with Diamond Snow then layered up all the die pieces over it. I added it to the centre of the card. I added my usual mats and layers with milk, mocha and blush card to complete the card. The finished dimensions are 8" x 8" in size. If you would like to be entered into the drawing to win this card, just leave a comment and check back to see the winner's name on Saturday's blog post. All for now, Sue x

ReplyDeleteMorning Sue and all Wilsonettes I agree sometimes you don't need flowers on a card and this one is just right without them, you have the rose embossing folder as a back drop so don't need anymore. Lovely card I like it.

Tracy - hope the chemo went well. Did laugh when you said you looked like your dad!!
cr@fty Heather - stuck with me, too, on the blog!
Regarding Steph, I'm not on Facebook so don't know for sure - it's only an assumption (not Gospel) from something she said about her Facebook friends. Whatever, do hope she's okay.

Bejay. Sorry for ur loss at this sad time.
Laine same for u pet on losing ur uncle.
Ladies chemo ran late yesterday. Was in hospital from 10am to see consultant then up to ward at half 12 for chemo which was mobbed then I think they forgot I was there. 6pm before I got out as my blood pressure was too high!! No wonder being in there all that time. I'm normally out by half two lol
I agree, Sue, a card doesn't always need flowers to be pretty. This is a lovely card.
ReplyDeleteAnne (Northampton)
Morning Sue, This is a lovely card, and that embossing folders is my favourite. As you know I love flowers and ribbon on my cards but as you say it doesn't need it. Love the colour combo. Watched John yesterday, he is full of wonderful tips and a very nice guy as well. You have a really good team now.

ReplyDeleteMorning Sue, looking forward to your shows on TV end of the week. Many thanks for your card instructions today. I have learnt something today. Use the sticky back over a sentiment and then use glitter over. Lovely will give that a try.

Hi Sue
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely to see a different style today and this one is a stunner. How could we not like it Sue - it's got that bed of roses embossing folder in the background. You little tinker, bet you thought you would slip that one in and we wouldn't notice ! - we know how much you love it.
Take care

Good morning Sue and all the Wilsonettes,
ReplyDeleteThis is a lovely card today Sue and i do love that blush card that you have used as it is so soft and subtle looking and bounces off the mocha really nicely. Well i have the bed of roses embossing folder but that is it so i think that it would definitely be a cobble together of whatever dies i have to come up with anything near this today Sue. Thank you for all the beautiful projects that you bring our way as it does give such a buzz of inspiration as to what we can do just when we think our mojo has left the building, county, country and world. Mines has been working over time making christmas cards for to send out for me this time this past weekend and was i brainy enough to make them all the same.......no is the short answer. Sometimes i think a 2 watt bulb is brighter than i can be eejit that i am. Not very good at the copy cat stuff as it gets boring(my story and i'm sticking to it). I have been busy knitting jumpers for christmas presents as well so 2 down, 2 to go and matching hats and off course all the jumpers have to be identical, don't they and they are taking forever to make because i am losing the will to live with them at the moment. So please excuse the fleeting visit but i need to get started once more and i have my little elf coming to stay with his granny while his mummy goes to the dentist to get her tooth fixed. Peace perfect peace as his Grumpy is at his work so granny here can get cuddles without losing him every other minute to is old Grumpy. I wish his Grumpy thought as much of his own son as he does of his grandson, anyway we will by pass that. Have a good day everyone that can and those that can't please take it slowly and steadily. I wish all our friends that have been hit with this nasty storm the other night get some resemblence of order back into their lives as soon as they possibly can so come on insurers you take enough money of us to protect us against such misfortune throughout the years, pay up now and fast when people need you the most. Sendign hugs to all my Wilsonettes that could do with them,
love and crafty hugs
Norah (Glenochil)

Think this would be an excellent anniversary card...............and that is the next one I have to craft!

Lovely card, Sue. I agree that sometimes adding lots of flowers and other embellishments detracts from the beauty of the effects of the die. This card demonstrates it perfectly.
ReplyDeleteLisbeth

ReplyDeleteHello Sue,
ReplyDeleteWhat a stunning card, it might not be girly in your eyes, but it is deliciously feminine in mine. I love it, mind you you can't go wrong if you include that bed of roses embossing folder in your designs. Safe journey home.
Bejay and Lorraine, so sorry to hear your sad news, somehow worse at this time of year.
Tracy, you are doing brilliantly, we are all cheering you on.
Lorraine, as to you inducing incontinence, I rather feel that if we were to meet I might suffer the same predicament, you make me laugh girl.
So sorry you are having a rough time though, despite your pain you are always so up beat, you are a special kind of lady, so I am sending you special hugs.
Carole, glad you enjoyed your birthday despite it all, am thinking of you.

Hello Sue
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card yet again. You should be so very proud of designing the dies and then creating wonderful cards with them. I have been to two Ally Pally shows now and can honestly say that you are a genuinely lovely person too, who really enjoys interacting with your many, many fans and sharing all your techniques. You are very much loved and appreciated. Like many others, I am so looking forward to seeing you on our screens again very soon.
Love Helen xx
Beautiful card! The color combination is gorgeous. This card would be a great birthday present for me as today is my birthday. Your creations never cease to amaze me. Thank you for the turning on all the creative juices in all of us.
ReplyDeleteSue your new dies just keep getting more amazing with each one. I am really loving this latest release. I wonder if it's ok to ask a request? I would be surprised if Sue is able to read all the comments completely, she's such a busy lady. However if you do happen to see this, I have a request for a set of crosses, intricate ones which maybe can be stackable. No one else could do them justice like you Sue. Just a suggestion!
ReplyDeleteSadly we have an update on our SIL Greg, the latest scan revealed the chemo hasn't been working at all. The doctor's back up plan was a new chemo drug, but it's rather experimental, and so his insurance will not pay for it. Each treatment would be in excess of $20,000 each, impossible for someone with 5 children to feed and clothe. They think now he will go to MDAnderson in Houston to get further evaluation. Thankfully it is one of the leading cancer centers in the world. While it is an 11 hour drive for them, the good news is my sister lives very close to the hospital, so he will have a place to stay. Often times lodging adds so much to the expense. So please keep him in your prayers for better news ahead.
Tracy and Carol, continuing to pray for you both. I know I've missed others, seems there are so many needs, but peace and health to you all.
That's absolutely gorgeous! Great card for the giveaway. Thanks for sharing!
