Wednesday Weekly Card Giveaway

Hello there my crafty friends!  Today's card giveaway is actually a card that I have done before using very similar dies, but I liked it so much that I remade it using some of my own!  I started with the Taylored Expressions stamp from the Oops A Daisy stamp set and stamped it in black all over a piece of coconut white card.  I covered the card with a sticky self adhesive sheet then coated it with Iced Snow for a blingy background.  Using The Grand Squares, I made a frame for my card, using one of the dies to emboss into the frame for a bit of detail.  I cut four of the Austrian corners and added them to the frame so they peeked out of each of the corners.  I stamped the sentiment in black and cut it into a forked strip and matted it with a black strip cut to match.  I cut several of the Delicate Daisies Complete petal in black then matched them with the Open Petal in white.  I coated each of the petals with Cosmic Lacquer and allowed them to dry overnight before assembling my flowers.  I glued them into place around the end of the sentiment strip and added some Faux Quilled Leaves around them.  I added a small black Dazzler into the centre of each of the flowers.  The card was then completed with a pierced mat layer in white, a thin black mat and a final white mat layer.  The finished dimensions are 8" x  8" in size.  If you would like to be entered in the drawing to win this card, just leave me a comment.  The winner will be announced on Saturday's post.  All for now, Sue x

  6. Morning Sue. I remember this one, it was stamped in blues and yellows and i thought it was beautiful then but i prefer this one as its in white and black. The centre of the flowers are lovely. I must have a try of making one of these frame cards as they look very effective.
Hope you had some great shows at the CHA and now you can have some relaxing time with your mom and family.
    Best Wishes.

    Morning Sue
Today's gift has a very calming effect - not too dark; not in your face and just has that calming touch we all need at times. I have your daisy dies and they are just gorgeous to work with (but so are all your dies) and look beautiful when completed and glazed. All in all a beautiful gift for someone who doesn't like a lot of glitz and frills. I have to get some more iced snow as I used all I had for the Christmas Gifts.

Well my friends Market yesterday was wonderful even though it was bitterly cold but we were well wrapped and so ready for everything. There were of course one or two stalls missing but then it's January and who can blame anyone not wanting to stand and freeze!! and as I said yesterday it was 99.999% locals. The Refreshment booth (warm wine etc) was doing a record piece of business as was the cafe which we had to really squeeze to get into but all good fun. The only purchases were vegetables but they are always so fresh and look so good even at this time of year.
We won't get another big market in now until sometime in the Spring when we return round about Easter.

Today is going to be an experimental one - I've got a load of candle fat from used candles; I've bought some candle wicks and so I'm going to try and make some very simple candles using jars with have been used for candles before. I've never tried this before so wish me luck and after all that rambling I'm going to need it.

Steph I hope your recovered from your trip across the Pennines.
Norah - hope all is well in your beautiful bit of Scotland and you're coping with all the horrible weather.

To all who are in pain or suffering I hope your days get better soon. To everyone please take care and stay safe. See you tomorrow.

  121. Hi Sue

Absolutely wonderful... I can get close with what I have so might try this. Note to self, need those Justrite big sentiments as so many of my sentiment stamps are quite dinky and not brave enough for the handwriting route! I must craft soon, family birthdays in the next week.

I don't understand Spellbinders discontinuing the Grand dies at a time when dies and cutting machines have got more affordable so more people have them. Surely now when there are so many Grand Caliber users now would be the time to bring them back!

Janet, have fun with your candles! xxx

Theresa, I hope you get an appointment very soon. Everything crossed for you xxx

Effort of that paperwork was too much. I have about 25 - 30% left to do as well as the printing out. I slept all day Tuesday apart from seeing to Billy and eating tea! Woke up at 7am so due a little rest now Billy has been seen to. Time for a snuggle on the sofa- by the way, he thinks my pressure cushion is really comfy too as every time I vacate it, he's there!

Take care in the snow if it affects you (bright blue cloudless sky here in Suffolk... can't make my mind up as to whether that's good or the calm before the snow!

    Lots of hugs to everyone,

    T x

  126. Good I Morning Sue,
Such a pretty card today, so blingy a real stand out on the mantel piece card, Your own daisy dies work so well with the "oops a daisy" stamp collection. I am so looking forward to seeing what new dies you are bringing to us in your next launch! Hugs Sue xxx
Janet, have fun with your candle making, you make me think about "the good life" do you remember that programme? Would you be able to drop some lovely French Lavender flowers (dried or I fresh) into the wax, it would make it look pretty and smell divine?
Have fun playing though, hugs xxxx
Cameeli, how's that gorgeous grandson of yours? I bet you can think of nothing else right now! Is your up craft club back up and running? Hugs to you both xxx
Theresa I am sorry to hear you are struggling at the moment, it can be so frustrating having to "jump through all of the hoops" that the NHS put in place to what seems to me is putting off the inevitable, I just don't understand why they put you through so much before getting you sorted out! I hope and pray that you get some I answers quickly and get back on the road to recovery, hugs xxxx
To all of you lovely crafty family I send hugs, stay warm and safe in this very changeable weather.
    Sandra xxxx

  152. Hi Sue, a lovely card, I love the daisies and the Iced Snow background.

Quite heavy snow overnight and I had to sweep the car before leaving this morning but we have had a couple of hours sunshine and now most of it has disappeared although there is a bitterly cold wind blowing.

    Stay safe and warm.

It will also make a lovely sympathy card which i have been looking for. Where my sister lives in Co Mayo Ireland its the type of place where if someone passes away well everyone knows them and she needs lots of sympathy cards to take to the Mass, so everyone will be getting a Sue card to comfort them.
Hugs to anyone who needs one, Johanna ps i hope no one thinks i am being morbid, if so sorry

Janet, hope the candlemaking went well, sounds fun something I've never tried, maybe one day.

Theresa, hope the doctor can press for your Ultrasound sooner rather than later, it seems so unfair you have to suffer so much pain, which is not helped by the long wait for the appointments

Susi, sending love and prayers to you and your mum.
