ReplyDeleteToday's gift is absolutely Beautiful and who wouldn't want to have such a gift through their letterbox. I have to admit I'm really falling in love with using your borders and striplets for background. They just make such a difference and today's gift if no exception. I have two silver wedding Anniv cards to make for the beginning of next month and this will just fit the bill nicely I'll just have to change the colour palette. So once again a very big Thank You for your inspiration and for saving me from becoming bald by tearing my hair out!!
Have to start the usual rounds of booking ferry and hotel today along with sorting out craft things that have to return with me and of course my lovely other half's reminders of what to take and 'how am I going to get all that in'!!!!!
To all in pain or suffering I hope your day gets better. To everyone please take care and stay safe. See you tomorrow.

Hi Sue and all Wilsonettes.
ReplyDeleteWhen is a border not a border ? When its used as a background. How clever. Love the tutorial Sue, thank you. I always smile, then have a little inward giggle when you use sticky adhesive sheets, my mind and imagination of disasters to be run riot. This is when my lips turn blue when I attempt this technique. As my grip is as useful as a chocolate fireguard, not only does the adhesive sheet slip from my grip when trying to get it straight and wrinkle free on the base card, I then have the panic of hoping the background/border die doesnt do the same as Im putting it in place ! I remember you showing this technique last year which I tried, and I must admit after holding my breath throughout I did manage it and it looked lovely (used a different border die at the time) as dont own this as yet, but considering Im an 'awkward' crafter it was as easy as you make it look : ) yes folks you heard it here lol !
I am now proud owner of this periwinkle card but not yet broken the seal, maybe now is the time.
To all visiting today I hope your day is a good one, to those lovely ladies struggling with health and life in general, I send to you love and caring cuddles.
Sending many hugs to all.
Lancashire Steph xx
Love this one Sue, gorgeous blue
ReplyDeleteHi Sue a beautiful card today and a great video, especially showing us the technique for the flower. Haven't tried doing these yet, must invest in the lace! Was looking for a design for my friends birthday card next week so I will have a play along these lines I think. Take care, Sue, hope you and your mum are safe and warm and tucked up out of the way of this horrendous storm that is hitting America. Love Diane G xxx

Good morning Sue, and all the ladies.
ReplyDeleteLove the card today Sue, but then I always (or nearly always) do!! The video is straightforward and helpful too.
I hope you and your family are not caught up in any of the winter storm that's in the U.S.
Everyone here, I think it's time to hibernate as weatherman says will be getting colder. I'm still breathing (as George's old Irish aunt used to say) but suffering from this virus - 2nd week but pointless going to doctors as will have to wait an hour - if I do get an appointment - and will probably be told he can't give me anything. Although I have self-diagnosed and could be suffering from the common cold ha ha.
Take care, keep warm and I hope you are as well and pain free as you can be. xxxx
Morning Sue
ReplyDeleteA truly lovely card. I love this colour combination and the impact is great!

My Sue such a beautiful card you inspire us every day and the video was great too, i love the wedgewood blue colour but as you said you can make it any colour you want, i don't have this die but there are certain cards i would like to make with it so i guess i will have to buy one, lol

As creative as usual, I sometimes wonder how you keep it up. You must dream cards in your sleep!
ReplyDeleteHi Sue, a gorgeous card. Looks like delicate, intricate lace and so pretty.
ReplyDeleteHi Sue, a beautiful card and I enjoyed the video, you explain things so well. I can't think of anything to say about the card that hasn't already been said other than I agree with everything! I'm sure it is just a coincidence but earlier on I was brave enough to pull out of my stash a couple of sheets of the periwinkle - I just hope the recipient appreciates it lol. Recorded Julia's early show and will watch it shortly.

Hi Sue, another stunning card , love the colors, and the use of borders as a background so very pretty , looks so like lace. Another great explanation of how, so many thanks.

Beautiful card today Sue. I love that lacy flower. I normally have trouble making flowers that look OK but am definitly going to try this one. Looks terrific.
ReplyDeleteHi Sue
ReplyDeleteI just love this technique. It's simply stunning. Will watch the video later.
Hi Sue
ReplyDeleteVery pretty, agree with many others that it looks like Wedgwood. I shall watch video later. I remember making a similar card a few years ago with a Spellbinders border like this- it may have been after watching you on C&C? It's such a pretty card I will try it with lots of different borders for some batch making. Will have to wait though as I have a doggy bed cover to sew up!
Recorded Julias earlier show. Will watch at two before going to clear the table ready for the sewing. Don't feel much like anything with that cold grey sky but some meds and a little caffeine while watching Julia I'm hope will focus me.
Janet I hope your packing goes smoothly x
I'd also like to send my thoughts to those affected by the snow in the USA. I just hope everyone stays safe and warm.
Sleet forecast for here Thursday is a little disappointing as I was hoping to go out. May stay in and bake a cake instead.
Wrap up warm everyone and stay safe x hugs all around and everywhere

Hi Sue,
ReplyDeleteFabulous cards and as many others have said very Wedgewoodesque which is fine by me! Love that flower too.
Maureen, hope you are on the road to recovery, I know just how you feel. I wasn't going to go to the doctors for the same reasons as you, but I'm so pleased I did as I am nearly back to breathing without sounding like a rattle! Be careful and pamper yourself - or get George to!
Was in Hartlepool yesterday went for a walk around the Headland and had a good time, blew a few cobwebs away I must say. First time I've been out for two weeks other than for food shopping, so it felt great. Mind you, I was shattered when we got back.
Hope everyone is ok, and ready for this cold weather that's on it's way. Love to all, Alison xx

Hi Sue. WOW !! This is such a gorgeous card !! This is the card from your die launch that made me want to buy the New York border, corner and tag die set !! I absolutely love this set. Also this particular card was the very card that I made for my Mum and Dads 50th Wedding Anniversary !! I just guessed everything following the photo of your card. I changed the colours to milk and vintage gold card and I did not have any lace so I made one of your gorgeous Chrysanthemum flowers from Vintage gold card using my new Daisy flower dies. I made the borders in milk card and put gold polished silk glitter over the spaces left. I used the centre oval die from the Cordoba set for the sentiment and put a New York corner die cut at each end to make it more decorative. It was not as perfect as your card but I was still very pleased with it and my family loved it !! I used the Trailing Ivy die set to and also made a matching box to put the card in.
ReplyDeleteI loved your video today. Now I know how to make this card properly !! This card looks fab in the beautiful Periwinkle blue but I think it would also look fab in just about any other Pastel combination to. I think the New York Border is one of the best borders you have made to date and has become my favourite border to use at the moment. Thank you so much for everything you do Sue. You are so inspirational.
