Happy Anniversary

Good Sunday morning all!   Another panel card but this time it is the caught in crystal technique.  I love this technique and just have to revisit it every so often.  I selected three colours of alcohol ink: cool peri, purple twilight and aqua.  On a piece of acetate, I used clear Crystal Lacquer and swizzled it all over the sheet.  Next, I dripped the alcohol inks all around, being very sparing with the purple twilight as it is much deeper than the other two.  I flicked some silver mica powder on to the surface to add some shimmer.  I crumpled a piece of white tissue paper and then placed it over the top and used some kitchen roll to tamp it down.  I left it to dry overnight.  I cut the background into three equal strips and then matted it with white card (this helps to make the colours pop) for my background.  I cut the Provence die from my French Collection in coconut white card.  I used the smaller die from the Salzburg and cut a frame.  I stamped my sentiment then glued the frame over it.  I added a thin bead of dries clear glue around the edge of the frame and dusted it with Iced Snow and allowed it to dry before mounting it in the centre.  I wrapped some white seam binding around the bottom of the card and added a bow.  I made a couple of melted flowers and added one to my bow and one to my sentiment tag.  I finished the bow with two matching stick pins.  I pierced a background mat  in coconut white card then finished the card with a final white mat.  The finished dimensions are 8" x  8" in size.

morning Sue from a very damp Burgundy Sunday morning.
Caught in Crystal is one technique I have not yet tried. I suppose I'm being a coward but one day I may be brave enough.
I love your colours for today's gift and of course your French collection is just gorgeous. I would love someone to send this to me on my special day.

Sandra - hope all went well yesterday and you're not too tired and in pain as a result.
Norah -my love everything is still too raw for you yet. It takes time for that to ease. The pain never goes away it just changes as time goes on. You're doing really well my lovely friend. Just let nature take her course.
Steph - hope you manage to get into that lovely craft room of yours today. It is certainly a better place than outside in the cold and damp - not good for you! Nothing but an ordinary day yesterday here - just a sweep round; clean the bathroom etc and then some embroidery in the afternoon. I was still recovering from the surprise dispute in the Market on Friday. We are very very quiet here and even in Corbigny market town we've never seen anything like it before. After all the highlight of the week is usually the local farmer taking a couple of his cows in a trailer from one field to another. Because of inheritance laws etc their farms could be split over a great area and of course at this time of year all the so called 'tourists' have gone home so it's extra quite. As our old next door naighbour used to say 'so so tranquil' 'so so peaceful and without conflict'.

Congratulations to all this week's lucky winners.

To all who are in pain and under the weather am hoping your day gets better as it moves along. To all take care and stay safe.
    See you tomorrow.

  37. Hi Sue. What a gorgeous card. I love the effect the caught in crystal technique gives, and the colours you have used here are beautiful together. I still don't have any alcohol inks (crafting on a small budget means there is always something else-like your wonderful dies, that takes priority) I must ask Sandra and Pat if they have any I could have a play with. The Provence and Salzburg dies look so good too, with just a hint of sparkle. Love it all : )

I think the Caught in Crystal has to be my favourite background as it does have that magic quality about it, and it reminds me of the very first time I saw you on TV , you were demonstrating this technique ( 9 years or so ago? ) I taped it and kept it till we got a new digital TV , and I knew then you were " Special" as you explained everything so clearly and looked so happy! I must do some backgrounds like this today.

  105. Good morning Sue and Wilsonette friends,
Today's card reminds me of a Monet painting with the crystal lacquer technique. It looks like mulberry paper underneath acetate as it has the look of the fibres that make up the paper, but hey we know that i have a very fertile imagination and see things, well there is a flower or outside in umbrella down in the bottom right hand corner and a fish up at the top left, please tell me someone else can see them too? I love the colour scheme in today's card Sue as it is soft and subtle but so lovely. Another beautiful card that gives our memories a jolt back to the past for techniques. I have just read on my favourite dies shop that you are bringing out a Gemini die set this time, that will need to be my first of the new sets. Strange how my eyes seen it's name first within your line up of what they have and have coming.
Pam, sending you hugs dear friend.
Cheryl, i am so happy that you can have your treatment done and out of the way so that you can have some energy to have a joyful Christmas with your family. It is going to wipe you out lass but oh how worth it it will be. Sending strong positive hugs your way as we need to build you up before it starts.
Anne, I am glad that Iain is getting good reports home from the hospital and that he is getting stronger with each passing day. It was him trying to be a he-man and lift you over the threshold again all these years down the line that did it i reckon. Tell him to stick to the cup of tea or coffee in future;)). Seriously though i am really pleased that he is on the mend for your sake as well as his as it takes it toll the worry.
Yorkie Lass June, you are missed flower so much, but all i can say is thinking of you and hope that you come back as soon as you are able. Take care and sending hugs.
Pam, i would send you strength but mines as taken feet and fled. I would send you courage but mines is failing, so all i can send is love and hugs dear friend.
Sandra, i hope that you are ok dear lady and i hope that what we said helped you come to a decision. Your creativeness and beauty that you bring should not be sidelined by someone else or "used" by them for their own gain. You have a wonderful talent that deserves it's own recognition. (())
Steph see when you find your mojo and energy again keep a wee bit back in reserve for leaner creative days.(())
Well done to all of today's winners, enjoy ladies your prize when it arrives.
The black clouds that were over the hills and skies have moved on some where else now so i hope that we can have a nice day. I don't mind it raining on the hills or at night when we are sleeping but i need the brightness of the day especially since the clocks went back as it gets so dark so early. Have a good day everyone with hugs going to all my Angels both on blog the now and not. I hope that the sun will shine out from wherever you are today. My thoughts and prayers to all my dear Angels not up to the mark at the moment,
    Love and crafty hugs

  132. Hi Sue, I love this technique! I've used a similar method before but never with the clear Crystal Lacquer. I need to get a bottle and have a try as I think a card like this would be fantastic with the colours tweaked a bit for my beautiful sister's ruby wedding anniversary next spring...I'm still trying to work out how on earth I can have a sister as old as that lol. The stick pins just finish it off so well :). As always, thanks for sharing with us. x

  138. Good evening Sue & friends,
Well I am just in awe of you Sue, your caught In crystal technique is just so gorgeous, a unique piece of artwork every time! Lovely messy play time, dies us all good to get our fingers messy once in a while, the stick pins you gave matched look so amazing too! Xx
Steph, yesterday was a nightmare from start to finish and as a result I am still stuck in bed now, I have never felt pain like this in a long time, plus I seem to have flu symptoms too!
There were about 5 other major events going on in town this weekend including WI craft Fayre, which is in town centre, another gift fair a charity Boot sale and a huge charity book sale! We ended up in an annexe off the main hall, chosen by my fellow stall holder, they forgot to open the main door to this room so nobody knew there were more craft stalls in there, the result of which meant that in total 3, yes 3 people actually came over and looked at my cards/jewellery, they were also stall holders, most other stall holders were pretty fed up, one actually said she had sold more in one hour on her website than the six ire so hours we were sat there! I just feel devastated really, felt like giving up totally, because I had battled through pain to get as much as I could together in time, which was a good thing as the other woman had about nine things in total including a babies matinee set that counted for three of the nine things! What an experience!
Thank you sell so much for your help and advice, I just wish one that I hadn't bothered!
Huge hugs to each and everyone of my lovely Wilsonette family!

  139. Hi Sue. WOW !! This is a stunning card today !! I love the caught in crystal technique. I have not tried this technique before as I don't have any alcohol inks and I am not really one of those crafters who likes to do messy stuff !! (although myself and my stepdaughter do enjoy experimenting with the shaving foam technique !! We have found that quite fun to do.) I will have to get some alcohol inks and give it a go. The results look fantastic Sue !! I love your three panel cards. Your Provence dies ans Salzburg dies look great Sue. I love the bow and your beautiful stick pins to. A truly beautiful card today Sue. Thank for sharing.
I hope you have a safe journey home. Sending lots of love to you and your family from Tres x x x

  154. Hi Sue what a lovely card. My favourite colours in it. I like the techniques you have used Sue. I think you are slowly egging us on to have a go at some more adventurous card making!!! At the moment I am bogged down and loving it -with Christmas cards and decorations with my little grand kids which are taking up most of my time but I will remember this very effective way of using inks etc. And try it out in the new year. Think you are offover the pond in time for Thanksgiving and seeing Mum so enjoy Sue. Bon voyage Maureen
