Hello my crafty friends! I hope everyone had a lovely weekend. I demoed all day at Coleman's warehouse in Rushden and was able to meet many of the blog followers so that was great fun for me. Today's card is one of those long skinny styles that I like (just to mix it up a bit!) I started with a piece of periwinkle card and embossed it with my Quilted Flower embossing folder to give my background some texture. Out of coconut white card, I cut eight of the French Collection corners. I glued them to the background so the edges were together and they formed four half circle patterns around my card. I cut a strip of white felt that was about an inch wide and nine inches long. I folded it over and glued the edges together so that the strip was now nine inches by 1/2" wide. On the folder edge, I snipped into it on an angle all the way down the length of the strip. I kept the spacing fairly close together so I had thinner snipped pieces. Using Cosmic Shimmer dries clear glue, I ran a bead along the bottom and rolled the entire length of it to create my flower. I seated it on a white messy bow tied from seam binding and some white tulle. I made two stick pins to match and stick the ends under the flower into the bow. I stamped my sentiment (from the Bold Sentiment set by Creative Expressions) on to vellum. I cut it into a strip and tucked the end under my flower and cut the other end into a fork. I finished the card with a white pierced mat layer, a thin periwinkle layer and a final white mat to complete my card. The finished dimensions are 6" x 9 1/4" in size. All for now, Sue x
Lovely card Sue to start Minday. So beautiful.
ReplyDeleteCameeli, wonderful news about your coming grandson, what a joy he will be for you.
Tandy, you must be heartbroken about your grandchildren in care, so sad when they could have a happy loving home with you,, aren't the children supposed to be placed where they will be safest and happy, what is this system all about.

ReplyDeleteHi Sue. A beautiful card to start a new week, and in my fav. colour combo : ) The corner die works so well like this, and I can see a peacock tail embossed with gilding flakes, the Calypso ones maybe? I love the felt flower and the vellum strip too(I still struggle to get my forks even, they end up getting smaller and smaller as I trim one side then the other, and don't get me started on matting them!!!)

ReplyDeleteLovely card today. I think those corner dies would make lovely fans or peacock tails even they are so delicate and pretty.
Well let us see if we can just get this comment to post just once!! I have no idea what is happening unless it is when as I say I use my phone. It has been playing up for a while with other things like not displaying things properly it is due for a change just can't find time to get round to it.
I am using the Mac today so I will check this time after I post, something I don't usually do.

Good Morning Sue & Friends,
ReplyDeleteWow what a fancy start to the week! Frilly, Lacey lovelyness! Super card Sue, I love the gems you use on your stickpins, I have managed to get hold of some pins, so that I can have a go! Glad your day at Coleman's was a success. Hugs xx
Tandy, how very sad, a loving familiar home waiting for Thisbe gorgeous grandchildren but the powers that be see fit to out them somewhere strange, the part I don't get isi saw a programme where they were desperate fir loving homes for children! Makes no sense, but these things never do! We once lived next door to some people that were barbaric, evil parents, they used to beat their poor children in the garden, the 7 yr old girl didn't know what an apple was, I was heartbreaking, birth me and the neighbour on the other side reported them to the NSPCC who came out, interviewed the family and said "they try where ever they can to leave the children in their home" we were horrified, they used to feed their children by giving them a bag of bread, nothing else! I lost faith in them that day!
It was lovely seeing my mum yesterday, but boy is it hard driving away and leaving her behind, on a brighter note she is going on her first ever mini break/holiday on her own this coming weekend, she us so nervous, as she us not used to doing anything on her own (my dad gad get protected for years so going out on her own is a huge breakthrough)! So we got her case all packed and sorted, I am so excited for her but nervous at the same time! X
Nanny Jo, sorry to hear about the storm damage where are you? I hope all us well x
TX cowgirl, your crop sounds fabulous, great location I am so pleased that they all loved Sue's Dies, but who wouldn't?! You will be very popular with all the crop -
goers wanting to use your dies! Hugs xxx
Alimecca, have a lovely trip to Scotland xxx
Frances, thanks for that, I will go gave a look, xxxx
Norah, I couldn't agree more with you about the whole, prisoners get it too easy business, children today don't seem to gave the same respect for their elders either, when I was at school our headmaster was like a 'god' you daren't even look at him leg alone speak to him, that saline kept you from straying into trouble! If a teacher told you to do something, you certainly didn't back chat! I think that this is where the problem gas started! Please Norah very careful on that there Soapbox, I don't want you having one of your falls!
I wonder where the 'soapbox' saying originated from?!
Anyway I must go get ready for physio.....:(
Crafty hugs to all of you special friends,
Sandra xxx
morning Sue
ReplyDeleteA very beautiful gift which made me smile this horrible dull/wet and cold Monday morning.
I love today's colour scheme - favourite of course -and the corner die you have used so reminds me of an Edwardian Fan. I can just see it done in lace and a few pearls around the edges. So So elegant in the ballroom. Today's gift has gone into my 'must do' file and I shall definitely be having a go.
Txcowgirl -Your Saturday sounds wonderful. You never know you could have started a massive new trend of Sue Wilson wonderful dies in your area. Just keep on crafting.
Tandy - You're in my heart and prayers dear lady.
Norah - I'm with you all the way re the system etc and you're not on a soapbox. You are a young lady who has very strong values and we need more like you.
Sandra - hope you had a lovely visit with your Mum and that your pain level isn't too bad this morning. Re physio I've decided to go down the Tens Machine route so am now looking for a machine. If anyone has a brand etc that's not over expensive they could recommend I would appreciate the info.
Well it's still dark and raining here so first job today is to put the summer wardrobe away and get out the winter one -oh doesn't that sound Posh! It's not believe me.
To all who are down and in pain hope you will feel better soon. To everyone take care and stay strong. See you tomorrow.

Good morning Sue and my Wilsonette Angels,
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful card again today from the french set. The effects that you achieve from the various elements are wonderful and make such beautiful cards. The white against the periwinkle looks so pretty and the pompom dahlia or chrysanthemum in the felt just finishes it off to perfection. Thank you Sue for another WOW and your continued inspiration that you give us so freely.
Oh Tandy, i am so sorry to hear that your grandchildren have been put into care. The lad might "only" be your foster son but i bet he lost that name a long time ago. Those poor wee mites have been through so much in their short wee lives, to lose their granny and grampa as well is just heartbreaking. I hope that your son will feel more able to cope again soon and bring those wee bairns back home where they belong. Big HUGS.
Myra P, i hope your charges love making their rainbow book card as much as i did because it was fun. The wee lass i made it for has it displayed in her bedroom with the box that i made for it(decorated of course) and i think the whole of Dollar has heard and seen this card of hers. All her wee friends want one but she just tells them that her grannies friend made it especially for her. Have fun as the concoctions of story books that could be made is endless and only limited by their imagination.
Glad to see that you are back on the up again Mrs B, as i know just what pain takes out of you and robs you of even the simplest of pleasures. Now you can look forward to meeting the girls for a crafty day this week and much enjoyment, have fun flower.
Alison, sorry it's raining flower but i do hope that you enjoy your break up here in Scotland. The rain is only cleaning up our beautiful landscape and making it look fresh and new for your visit.
Pat S Whitney, i hope that you are nearing the end of your decorating. My Auntie Ina used to decorate her livingroom for spring, summer, autumn and Christmas every year. She had this thing that her place was filthy when in actual fact you could eat your dinner of the floor it was so clean. How she managed i don't know as she was so ill with kidneys(on dialysis 3 times per week) she had various bags attached because of the amount of operations she had had over the years that doctors had bungled. She was in and out of that hospital as much as mum and that is how they met(because she wasn't my real aunt, she was better than a real one) as she was a Glaswegian and boy did she have a sense of humour.
Well the clouds are being chased today so fast across the sky with the wind it's like seeing something in high speed as they have their race. I hope that where ever you are my dear friends you have a lovely day even if the weather isn't. Sandra flower, take things easy today after your marathon drive yesterday to see your mum. Hugs to all my dear angels in need or just want a hug.
Love and crafty hugs
Norah (Glenochil)
a really beautiful card, love this die, xxx
ReplyDeleteMorning Sue and friends. Glad the demo day went well for you. No rest for you though, what with your shows on CC looming, so looking forward to it.
ReplyDeleteI adore this corner die that isn't just a corner die. Ive used it as a centre point like one big doiley with all 4 corners meeting in the centre, it really IS more than a corner enhancement.
Yet another day feeling awful. Keep hoping tomorrow will be the day I can say I feel well(ish) again, hohum, such is life, of which Im sleeping most of it away at the moment !
I started this post at 8am and keep nodding off.
Thinking of all those that are unhappy, unwell, sad and feel alone (you are not)
TOB - Im thinking of you at this horrible time. You know where I am ok ?
To all Wilsonettes stay warm and dry (and awake) if possible !!!
I meant to say yesterday Sue - the sentiment came straight back at you and to my Particraft sisters.
Love you.

ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty card to brighten up this dull cloud-crying Monday morning. Tis quite windy here in my part of Somerset.
ReplyDeleteTandy, my heart is full of sorrow for you losing your grandchildren to the 'care?' system. I hope that there will be some way they will let you stay in touch with them and hopefully be able to fight for them.
To all Wisonettes who are not feeling 100% today, "wrap your arms around your shoulders and squeeze, now you have a hug from me.

ReplyDeleteSo lovely card!
ReplyDeleteI think the best thing about your work must be all the new dies, you get to play with. I think I've bought a lot of dies, but still: every day I wish I had this one :) They are so lovely.
Good morning Sue - what a pretty card I first looked and thought I didn't remember any half circle dies your so clever.
ReplyDeleteWell what a change in the weather even my dog refused to go out and I can't say I blame him.
Tandy I feel for you it must be heartbreaking but hopefully things will get better and them on high will see sense.
Pam I too trained as a speed typist but am afraid for me I have totally lost it. I can still remember typing The Quick Brown Fox Jumped Over The Lazy Dogs over and over on an old manual typewriter. (For those who do not know this phrase uses ever letter in the Alphabet).
Hope everyone has a good day and those in pain find some comfort. Big hugs all round. Take care all Helen K xx

Hi Sue, a lovely bright card for a very dull and miserable morning. It's going to be a lights on day all day, I think. I love the delicacy of the French collection corners and the felt flower suits it perfectly. I received a pack of the periwinkle card (and some other stuff, of course, lol) from JS on Saturday but can't bring myself to use it yet. It is such a pretty colour I just keep looking at it :-)
ReplyDeleteOh well, back to the Christmas cards, still so many to make.
Have a good week Sue and all Wilsonettes.
Frances
Very pretty :)
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful work here again Sue.

Hello Sue, another beautiful cards, the dies used in this way as someone else said remind me of peacocks tail feathers.
ReplyDeleteLove the felt flower it just sits so perfectly on the card.
Thai care, love Brenda xxx
Tandy, just want you to know you are in my thoughts and prayers.
Sandra, so pleased you managed to get to Colchester to see your mum, hope you are not suffering today from all that sitting in the car. Your mum is very brave, she will be fine, just tell her to hold her head up high (no one will guess she is nervous)
Txcowgirl, Bet everyone went home and did a web search. Well done you - for being in there first, and for spreading the Sue Wilson name.
Myra, enjoy your time with the children, they will love their rainbow books.
Steph, take it easy, hope you have a peaceful day.
Hi Sue,
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely bright start to an otherwise miserable Monday morning! My favourite periwinkle blue and white! The French set is gorgeous and I was just thinking - that would make a circle too when I read Steph's comment!!
Love the stick pins and also the flower. I really like making those - they always work too! Big bonus! Lol. Pleased you had a lovely time at Colmans . Looking forward to Thursday. I am out in the afternoon but will record everything anyway! Thank you Sue for everything you do .
Tandy - so very sorry to read about your grandchildren. How heartbreaking - common sense went out the window when political correctness came in methinks! Thinking of you and praying things will change for you.
Sandra - I think soap used to come to stores in wooden crates or boxes in long bars which were cut up .These boxes were used at Hyde Park Corner (Speakers Corner) and other public places for speeches . The speaker would take his own soapbox and stand on it to be seen above the "crowd". I think there's an American link as well but not sure.
Txcowgirl - Dawn - Wow ! Sue Wilson's American Ambassador! Sounds as if you had a great day!
Janet - you made me smile - re the winter wardrobe! I've been doing the same and mine isn't posh either!
Frances - you really must stop stroking the card and start using it! I think we are all the same!
Love to everyone, including, Pam and Robbie, Norah and Rory, Tandy, Leo and Skylar, Tres, TOB Theresa, Julie L, Anne, Frances, June, Janet, Steph, Sandra, . Lynne M, Lindsay, Lynda, Sheila , Brenda L, Maureen,
Dawn (Texas) and not forgetting Sue.

Hi Sue
ReplyDeleteA beautiful card, as was yesterday's. I love to join corner dies up to make frames and features and that die set looks ideal for it. Plus the periwinkle card is always a winner for me! The felt flower is a lovely inexpensive way to put texture an (even more) interest on a card. Still struggling for drop shape faceted beads for my stick pins- I use acrylic pearls at the moment, the added bonus is they are cheap so I don't mind re colouring them or getting out the good old embossing powder. At the stage where I will look to import l, I'm running out of bead shops online in UK, as it's a shape I also love to use in my jewellery making.
I've only briefly skimmed past two days comments, I have finally chosen, offered the job of being my PA and it's been accepted and OMG the paperwork I need to do in the next couple of weeks, arrgg!
But I did see that some of my fellow Wilsonettes are having a dreadful time. Sending, hugs, love and support to you all, especially to Tandy. What a dreadful thing for you all, I was under the impression that Social Services were to do their best to relocate children to family, even distant family. If those kids and their Dad see you as family then you are family. If you want to fight the decision then go see your MP if you haven't already- this is what they are there for, and get their help. The kids would be so much happier with someone they know. I will wish hard for you, and hope some common sense happens for the best. Sending you as many hugs as you need.
I'm afraid that's all I got for today, I'm absolutely exhausted, it's been a really big day. I've got a lot to do this next week/ 10 days to prepare. Soon as I've done this the phone is going off til tomorrow!
Crafty hugs to each and every one of you :-)

Hello Sue. A gorgeous card today, the periwinkle blue is a favourite colour of mine. xx
ReplyDeleteHi Sue. I love the French Corner dies you've used on this card, they are quite delicate. The periwinkle blue is really nice and is a good background colour for the die cuts. How cute is that felt flower...I've done it with paper but never tried it with felt. It's a great look. The favourite thing on this card though, has to be the pins. They really add that elegant finishing touch. As always, thanks for sharing with us. x
