Thinking Of You

Hi crafters!  I had a request for this card, which was my last demo on the One Day Wonder shows on Thursday.  I used the Bevelled Glass Striplet to cut the background, cutting it twice to create an continuous background.  Once cut, I glued it to a piece of white card.  Next I used the inside cutting ring from the Innsbruck die set to cut an oval in the centre of the background.  I added mounting foam to the background of this piece to raise it for dimension and added a piece of the same blue card to the back which covered just the aperture opening.  I cut one of the Innsbruck dies in white using the inner cutting die and the decorative insert.  I recessed this piece into the aperture opening, gluing it into place there.  I stamped my sentiment from the Justrite Extra Grand Sentiment set on to blue card and heat embossed it in white.  I ran a bead of dries clear glue along the edges of the strip and dusted it with Iced Snow and allowed it to dry completely.  To make the floral embellishment, I cut several sizes of the Delicate Daisy Complete petal and used a stylus to shape the petals upwards.  I inked the ends lightly with Stormy Sky distress ink, then added glue to the tips and sprinkled on Diamond Sprinkles and let it dry well.  I stacked all the pieces, offsetting each one to create my flower. I finished it with a large flatback pearl in the centre.  I cut two of the Petite Vinery in white and seated my flower on some white tulle with the vinery added around it.  I tucked the end of the sentiment strip under the flower and attached the other end with a glue dot with some bend added in to it for a bit of a flowing movement.  I matted the card with a thin blue mat and a final white mat.  On the inside white mat, I added Cosmic Shimmer white PVA glue dots around the edge to frame the card.  The finished dimensions are 6 3/4" x  8 3/4" in size.  All for now, Sue x

    morning Sue
First I have cast my votes for the Craft Awards and it was more than a pleasure to do so. You give so much of yourself to everyone and you surely deserve the accolade.

Today's gift is really beautiful and one that suits me fine. I love the format and not I really really NEED that strip die. The colour scheme today is so so gentle and warm (sometimes blue can come across as cold but is still my favourite colour scheme). I shall definitely be doing a version of today's gorgeous gift.

Norah - You deserve all the compliments you get after all the hours and work you will have put in making those beautiful wedding invites. Your Nephew not knowing that they are hand crafted and thinking they are outside bought has to be one of the highest compliments you can get. Please give yourself a large (but very gentle) pat on your back.
Sandra - So sorry I missed collecting you (lol) Wouldn't it be wonderful to have a Burgundian retreat for crafting - and I don't have a carpet in sight so no hoovering to be done lol. Hoping you're managing to get some crafting done.
Steph - Well here I am sat at my laptop and looking out onto the garden as it's just getting light. At the moment I'm trying not to look out too much as while we were back in the UK we had a very large weeping willow tree pruned down to size (and although I had to agree that it had grown much too large and if it or part of it came down in a storm our little house would have been damaged)and now it's me that's weeping. It looks so strange after seeing it there for 15years and I don't like one little bit. I know that it will grow again but I'm so sentimental about trees as they are beautiful and so alive.

Ah well freezer and cupboards full so hopefully I can get some crafting done today.
To all who are under 100% hope you feel better as the day goes along. To all take care and stay safe. See you tomorrow.

I'm sorry I haven't been commenting lately ( but I did check out Sue' s beautiful cards most days ) .
My husband Iain had an emergency quadruple heart bypass operation and was rushed from Raigmore Hospital in Inverness ( he went in for cardiac tests on the Wed.) and they kept him in. On the Thursday a surgeon was in from Aberdeen and said he had a bed there and performed the operation on the Friday, he was in Intensive Care for a week and was transferred from the high dependency unit yesterday to a normal ward , so he's on the mend now , thank goodness! I had our daughter Mandy for company last week and our son Stewart at the weekends so that was a great comfort.
So that's what has been happening, I have managed to visit The Papeterie and treat myself to a couple of Sue dies as I won't be down at the Glasgow this time.
Love and Hugs to all xo

A very elegant card today and I love the way you have used the striplet fie and the Insbruck dies todether. Never thought of using the daisy die to make a 'mum' type flower, I used to use the Spellbinders small scalloped circlem cut each scallop into the centre and it used totake for ever but now I can use your daisy die...many thanks for that tip.
Love the blue card you have used too.

  57. Good morning Sue & my lovely crafty friends,
Love today's card Sue, everything about it, colour, die combination a and that flower is to die for, so many flower designs from one die, that above all else shows that these dies were designed by a true crafting professional, you deserve to win every single award across the board Sue, you are one of the very few Kind, caring, genuinely honest to the core, you are not in this to make a fast buck and disappear , you can tell that everything you have put your name too has been designed with us in mind, so that we get every single pennies worth of value out of our purchase, you then go out of your way for days, weeks and months afterwards showing us different ways of getting the most out of our dies/stamps, there should be a special award for you as you are in a category of your own, above and beyond all others! Hugs xxx
Anne, I am so sorry yo hear that you have been through the emotional rollercoaster over the past few weeks, I am so happy to hear that Iain is on the mend, if it's any comfort to you a close friend of ours went throug The same surgery and after recovery was a new man, he hadn't been aware that his heart was not working at full capacity, so after surgery he had a real new lease of life, so you will hopefully have that to look forward to, get ready to keep up! I am so glad you had your lovely daughter to help you share the worry! Hugs xx to all of you xx
Janet, I would love to come to your lovely French country home for a craft retreat, it sounds idyllic, I think it would shatter the peace of your quiet haven though!
Your weeping willow will grow back more beautiful than ever in time, it will had done it good, I know what you mean though they look kind of sad and eerie after they have been chopped! I would love to see some photos of your little piece of heaven and the surrounding area,
I am glad you are all stocked up and ready to craft, what does Mr E do with his spare time? Will you stay out there for Christmas ? Hugs xxxx
We are off to take Lucy to the eye hospital today to try and fret to the bottom of her ongoing double vision, it hasn't been right since the surgery earlier this year, I hate hospitals! My mother & father in law had to rush home yesterday afternoon as their burglar alarm was activated, there were supposed to stay until today, luckily it was a false alarm caused by their electricity tripping off, but a good job they went as the freezers were both off! I always feel so incredibly exhausted after guests, I just don't relax while they are here!
I am sending big hugs to all of you lovely ladies,
    Hugs as always,
    Sandra xxxxxx

  69. Hi Sue,
Really like today's card, especially the colour. The striplet die is so useful as well.
Anne, how awful for you ( and your poor husband of course!). I'm really pleased he's on the mend now, special hugs to you both. Janet, I know just how you feel. We have a beautiful white flowering cherry in our garden. It has been there for 27 years and my husband decided it was blocking the light too much so arranged to have it pruned. I did admit it needed a bit cut off as it was huge, but it was my pride and joy. Anyway, I had to go out when it was done and when I came back it was awful! It reminded me of a big cactus in the desert in America! However, it did give a lot more light into the garden, and throughout summer, it has recovered, but I've told my hubbie to cut it back into a more rounded shape once the leaves have gone. So your tree will recover and as Norah says it will probably be stronger. I feel exactly the same as you do about trees and weeping willows are beautiful. Off to craft now to try to catch up with what I should have done yesterday until lack of electricity put a stop to it. Love and hugs to all, love Alison xxxx

I know just how mega busy you are Sue, but last Thursday you mentioned so many ways of using your daisy petals. Is there any chance at all that a tutorial of all the flowers you can make with this die could be added to the others that are at the top of your blog please. 92. Good morning Sue and the fabulous Wilsonettes,
I love the double layered look & the aperture within the beautiful striplet die cut is just that bit different to normal. Oh how i love The beautiful colour of blue that you have used, so soft. The chrysanthemum that you have created out of your daisy die looks just like those spikey ones that you get and just with the edges tipped, it really finishes of a beautiful card. Thank you Sue.
Janet, oh boy do i know what you mean about your beloved Weeping Willow. My lugghead Husband has cut down all bar one of the Fir trees at the bottom of mums garden that blanked out the ugly wall of the prison. Why? Because the branches didn't start until after the height of the fence.DOhhh!!!! that was the general idea. He took away the Fir tree that was at the side running down the garden because it only went to one side. It has had a wood pigeon nest there for the last 2 decades. Einstein... well it can make a new nest somewhere else. No it can't because it is too late in the season eejit. He has taken down a number of the trees and it would have broken my mum's heart to see her bare garden. The bottom of the garden was her secret hideaway that you couldn't see from the house without going down the garden through the wrought iron archway gate to the hidden secrets. Now you can see right down to the bottom and if he had his was the willow lattice work that has fruit trees behind it would be down as well and they would be out. The big greenhouse is now down and up at his nephew Stuarts', but now he wants down the apple tree that was behind it and the rowan tree at the side of the hut doors and i have told him no more trees are coming down. See he likes the quietness of the village but wants it to be more town like...bare of natural living, growing life. He's thrown out the hedgehog house that he says was rotten, i'm still trying to find where about. Sometimes my other half just makes me want to scream and i would try and knock some sense in but there's nothing there i am quite sure to knock the sense into. Oh don't get me wrong, i know that the garden was badly overgrown but there is such a thing as tidying up and sheer massacring just for the sake of it. I think it is just a pity he couldn't have shown an interest in sorting it out when mum was still here and tidied it up for her sake to look out on to.
Oh Anne flower, i am so sorry to hear that Iain has been warring with himself. I hope it wasn't all that excitement with the wedding anniversary cruise and party shenanigans. We told him not to go up and do that birdie dance, but I am glad that he is on the mend but he must at all costs when he comes home BEHAVE himself as he has been so lucky this time, we don't want a recurrence thank you very much. You must have been at your wits end you poor thing, but i am glad your daughter and son were keeping you as sane as you could hope to be at that time. Sending you and Iain up hugs, you to say we're here and Iain in the hope that he will be up and about again soon.
It must have gave your poor parents such a fright though Sandra with that going off like that. I don't know, but once your house has been violated by a burglar it just doesn't feel the same again somehow, so i am glad that it was nothing more than the electricity going off. I am quite sure dad can wait on you and i bet they were telling you off for doing things that they could do or go and do for you. My school friend made me a coffee the first time i went to her house after a number of years and after that it was every man for themselves although when she thinks she's doing a good turn by filling up the kettle, i hate to tell her i can't lift it. I can feel quite stupid at times because i can't do some of the simplest things a lot of the times, but hey we find a way around the problems.

I am waiting on my new hoover coming and i can't wait to try it out to see if it does duff up my carpets like it is supposed to do, but lets hope that i can push it eh? I have a wee one up the stair so i don't need to try and lift it up and down, but with Tia's casting, i have chocolate brown hair every where. I just seem to get it cleared and it is as bad as ever. We have had her on a diet this past 6 weeks as she was a third overweight and not because of what she was getting to eat but because a certain person wasn't taking her a walk. It is amazing just what a walk has done as she is now wiggling her bum about showing off her new waistline. Her face has slimmed down as well coming to a more pointed face rather than a solid heavy one. It's a shame because she loves a walk and gets quite excited now when she goes out with her daddy at night for her walk and for him to check on mum's house. She is looking around for her granny and Milly and can't understand why she can't find them. A lot of the times that she went to she her granny i would need to warn mum to sit down because Tia comes running in like a hooligan and knocks her over in her excitement at seeing her. She was like a skittle that got sent flying when Tia enters the room, more like a Shetland pony rather than a lab.
Well schools back up here and all is quiet on the Ochil frontier, just wish that the weather was better, but hey it's autumn so i will wish all my angels a good day and sending hugs to all in the blog and not at the moment,
    Love and crafty hugs

  95. Good morning Sue, and all the ladies.
Sue, this is absolutely fantastic. Would also make a great man's card, but without the flower. I love it.
Anne C, I hope Iain is soon back to "normal" (whatever that is) and that you recover from the shock of events which spiral like that. I went through something similar about 7 years ago and couldn't sleep, eat or rest until George was home - although there are times when I could strangle him!!!
Norah, I think tree cutting is a "man" thing. I dread the words "I'll just trim that bush/tree" as it usually means there'll be 2 or 3 twigs left sticking out of the ground when he's finished!!!
I Hope everyone has as good a day as they can, and love to all xx

  99. Hi Sue,
I'm in awe - this card is so lovely, lovely, lovely and elegant. The colours are just beautiful, as are the dies (Bevelled glass striplet is my favourite of them). And anything produced with the "Austrians" is elegant.
Flower is awesome - I suppose you can tell that I really love this card.

  101. Hi Sue,
Thank you very letting us have a closer look at this lovely card. The colours are so elegant and classy and your flower is perfect. I have been trying to make it and I have to say its not have bad - although nothing like as good as yours. Practice makes perfect! Will keep trying. Thank you Sue for everything!
I think they need a special category for you in the Craft voting world - Simply The Best - Better Than All The Rest! Lol.
Anne - good to hear from you. You have been missed . Sorry about your husband Iain being so unwell but thankfully now on the road to recovery. As someone said earlier we have a good friend who went through a similar ordeal 6 years ago and he is like a new man! Get ready to keep up! Lovely when the family rallies round - what would we do without them. Sending love to you all. x take care and don't tire yourself out.
Norah - my heart goes out to you about the garden. Gardens are full of memories too. Unfortunately not everyone is a gardener and to some gardening is just a chore. To those of us who love it - it brings so much pleasure and joy. Hopefully with the coming of Spring you will see things which have survived the onslaught and have real pleasure planning new additions. Try not to be too sad. Sending you extra love and hugs today - big hug for Rory too. x
Cheryl - thrilled at your news. x
I got a bit of a surprise this morning! Was still upstairs in nightie when door knocker went. Standing on mat was decorator come to paint the kitchen!!! He was supposed to come when we were in Spain. Well at least it's being done even if I wasn't ready. Having read Anne's post and others I had a talk to myself along the lines of - Myra get things in the right perspective and be thankful! It was still a shock.
    Must go, no more rambling/moaning.
    Love to everyone ,
    Myra xx

Beautiful card, and I really love this striplet die, it's one I keep going back to all the time, it can look so different in whatever colour or background you choose. Also it's brilliant for male or female cards. The flower is really gorgeous, yet another reason for owning the daisy dies - they are so versatile.
Take care, hope you have a good week.

Anne C - What a worrying time you have had, so pleased your husband is out of intensive care and improving, I'm sure your son and daughter have been a great support to you both.

I have both the Daisies Die sets and from their first use, found I could make different flowers : - )
They were a great purchase and get used often !

Anne Crawford, glad your husband is on the mend after major heart surgery. Enjoy your new dies. You deserve a treat x

Janet (Ecco of Sheffield) - I know what you mean about trees, I love them too and get upset when people cut them down uncaringly, because they 'spoil' or block their view, etc.

When my daisy dies arrive - hopefully very soon - I will have all the ingredients to make something similar. Thank you.

Anne C - I did wonder where you had been hiding but never guessed it was in The Papeterie, lol. I'm glad your husband is now recovering well and can't help but think how thoughtful of him to wait until all your celebrations were over before getting ill :)

I love this card. The colours and the dies are gorgeous. The flowers dies are so versatile. I've done a full stint today at school. The new intake at Foundation are the worst épée have had. They do not sit, they do not listen and seem to think they can do as they wish.

    The glitter certainly lifts it.

Oh Janet I can sympathise with you over the loss of your Willow tree. We had a fruiting Cherry tree which was about a hundred years old but it had gone rotten in the centre and we were told it had to come down - I know you will believe me when I tell you I went to talk to it and say I was sorry and I cried like anything.

    Love and hugs everybody.

Lovely card Sue,Have the striplet and the petals so will really try to make this(maybe tomorrow).Had family around all day and it's lovely to see them but uj how tiered after they gone so weather permitting, rain and dull I will see if I can make some crafting.Husband make room in your office !

AnnC- you have had a terrible time,so glad to hear that all gone well and that your husband is recovering.Hugs to you both.

Norah-the poor trees but hopefully they will one day grow up again and the garden will look better then ever. Your Tia sound a lot of fun.Hug to you and Rory.

Pat S-you are a very brave lady. Foundation is a room full of little terrors and they have not a clue how to behave.I saw that more and more and as you can't punish them or anything while they can kick, spit and swear at you etc. I left after 15 years in a first school.Best thing I did but miss them funny enough sometimes......

To all Wilsonettes take care and have a good night
