Warm Thoughts

Hello crafters!  Here is a real easy one but with a lovely look to it.  I cut a Reflective Moments in coconut white to use as the basis for my focal element.  On another piece of coconut white card, I stamped the Quilted background using a clear Perfect Medium pad.  I stamped over it with the snowflake from the Justrite Christmas Applique stamp set using a black Archival ink pad.  I randomly stamped them all over the background.  Next I used Stormy Sky distress ink and covered the entire piece.  The background becomes a sort of ghost image in the back to my snowflakes in the foreground.  I cut it to size to fit my die cut and added both pieces to some dark blue card.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it
into a flag and added it across the card.  I stamped one more snowflake in blue ink on white card, covered it with a sticky adhesive sheet and then coated it with Iced Snow.  I cut it out by hand and added it to the sentiment with a pearl centre.  I finished the card with a white pierced mat layer,
a thin blue mat then a final white mat.  The finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x 8" in size.

With everything that has been going on I almost forgot to tell you that I was asked to host a challenge this month on the Scrapology blog.  Why don't you pop over and take a look.  Go ahead and enter a card in the challenge, the directions are at the bottom of the post.   There will be some of my dies for prizes too.  Here is the link: http://scrapology-adventuresinscrapbooking.blogspot.com/

I know that we have hit our goal on the blog candy contest, however, it is going to have to wait a few weeks before I am able to do the drawing, just to let you know.  All for now, Sue x

  20. Hi Sue. Morning all.
Such a beautiful 'clean' card this cold damp morning. The die always looks regal to me and makes the most beautiful elegant frame for any ocassion. Its just so pretty.
Ive had no inclination to craft at all this week, Ive put 2 cards that I made last week (baby shower) that were drying into their protective bags, put a price tag on and that's about it ! I cant believe that after having so many joint injections over the years, that the one I had Tuesday has made me feel so off colour ! I usually shake it off and 'push' through but Ive just had to give in which is NOT in my nature ! Just hope I dont get asked for Exam Congrats cards on Sunday, or I shall have to apologise and say "no" ! Unless I can get a few done today, but Im finding it so hard to put together 'teenage' congrats cards with what I have in my stash !

Its so bad Pam that you have been let down by your physio team. I thought you would be going to the hospital physio dept, I didnt realise they were coming to you, that's not good !
Dianandchips, hope you are being well cared for.
To my long list of dearest friends, I wish for you a day without pain and struggle. A bouquet of love and cuddles are sent to you today (you all know who you are)

Sending you love and happiness today Sue, hope you are well.

  24. Hi Sue,
I Always Love How You Say Here Is A Easy Card, But For Me It Looks Truly Amazing, And Not So Easy Lol!
I Love The Colours You've Chosen For Your Card Today The Coconut White And The Dark Blue,
I Love How You've Used The Reflective Moments Die, It's Just So Pretty And Detailed And When You Look Closely The Embossing Really Comes Through When Using White Card So It Must Look Tremendous When Cut And Embossed In A Darker Colour.
I Love The Snowflake Stamp You've Used From The Christmas Appliqué Set From JustRite, Fabulous Ghost Image That You've Created, I So Love How You've Added Iced Snow To Your Main Focal Image, And Cutting Out Another Fabulous Snowflake And Adding The Awesome Iced Snow, Then Attaching This To Your Sentiment, Just A Truly Very Beautiful Card.
It's A Great Honor For You To Host The Challenge For The Scrapology Blog, I've Never Visited This Blog Before But I'll Definitely Check It Out Today.
Sue Thank You For Sharing, For Your Kindness.
On A Personal Note: I Can't Thank You Enough For Everything You Do, For The Inspiration That I Truly Appreciate.
For The Tips And Techniques Where Would I Be With Out Them!
    Thank You So Very Much.

    morning Sue
Congratulations on the 1501 members. With what has been happening over the last few days/weeks I'm surprised that you know where you are and what you're doing!!
What a lovely way to end the working week. Blue/white - one of my favourite colour combinations so for me you cannot go wrong. Yes it's simple but so effective and makes a beautiful statement.

Pam - so sorry about the Physio. Fingers crossed for today.

Cameeli - it's lovely to see you in your normal place.

Sandra - have a safe journey home and hope that next week's apptments go OK.

Norah - Oh how I loved your dress/hair affair yesterday. As I was born just after the war -1946- I had to have just what was around (not like today - designer labels etc) and when I think back some of the outfits Mum had me wearing I more than cringe. She was always wanting to try out new hair styles just like your Mum and one I remember was her favourite was to pleat my hair at both sides of my head and then tie them together up on top with the most huge bow. You can just imagine what looked like! Whenever I complained her favourite saying was 'always be a leader not a follower' in other words that's what you're getting and that's that!!

We certainly were the last of the big spenders yesterday as we did not go to the vide grenier. That was because when my lovely Mr E came back from the bakery he informed me that we weren't going to Montepas as he had read the sign wrong and it wasn't until this Sunday 24th. His excuse was that he was driving and so mistook the 4 for a 1. So it's the weekly market today and our usual route and then Montepas on Sunday for our last vide grenier for the season.

Hope everyone is feeling OK after the very very busy week and having a restful week-end. Also hope that all plans made for this week-end come together and the weather is kind. Take care everyone. See you tomorrow.

  79. Good morning Sue and Wilsonettes,
I do like this dark blue card that you have used and just received my little bundle this week so all i need now is the snowflake stamp. The reflective die cut always reminds me of a beautiful photo frame and this time it is framing your snow background. This could be a good card for the people in our lives that don't like the trimmings or men. I will take a look at what you have been upto on the other blog in a wee while.
Pam flower, i take it your physio comes from a time before Alexander Graham Bell and that is the reason they could not even call you to let you know, so be gentle with them as they are so very old and decrepit ;)
Steph flower, sometimes you have no choice but to give in and i know how frustrating that can be especially when you are trying to work to a deadline. Please take it easy and hopefully you will get a burst of energy again soon.
Oh Janet, i had such fine hair for plaits that when MOTHER did that one on me with the bow, there was more bow than hair. It look like in all honesty that it was 3 pieces of blonde string that made up the plaits on either side because of how thin the hair was. Because mum had us twins and dad was one such poor wages we went to the greatest place of all for our clothes... the church jumble sale(can you tell this was pre charity shops) and bought things, taking them apart and remaking them into our size. When Jim was a baby she used to buy frocks and change them into romper suits for him. I think that is were i get my meaness for not buying names plus the fact that i just didn't have the money either. Kirsten is a sheep that follows but Rory just couldn't care less about anything expensive unless it is at a good preowned price. Kirsten money burns a whole in her pocket, but Rory can have it for months and months a bit like his Easter eggs. My two couldn't be any more different if they tried.
Ann, i hope wee Sam has a lovely time with his die cutting today. I think it's great that you are encouraging your grandson like you are. Crafting to me broadens your inspiration for everything else in life, have a fun day.
Gail flower, you have had to deal with so much this year and the time away will do you the power of good, so have a great time away.
A few things to do this morning so no crafting but i have made a start on my Christmas cards. I think i will get a batch made for Rory's school Christmas fayre that will be coming up in November. I like to give somethings in to help as they do so much for our children even though they are just a small school. The teachers are multi talented in various disciplines and try to teach the children any way they can. Rory was learning Chinese from one of the teachers but has in the past down German, French and Italian. He goes on the internet and finds the languages there to carry on where he left off. It's a pity that he doesn't have the power to be able to go to Mainstream and learn and sit these languages as it could have given him a larger window of opportunity, but i let him potter along with the internet. Maybe later he will learn under more structure and be able to use it, who knows.
Well from a beautiful day here at Glenochil i wish you all a good day with gentle hugs going to Robbie, Baby Leo and to all the wonderful Wilsonettes that i have such good fortune to be a part of.
    Love and crafty hugs

I've got everything crossed at the moment as my citizen card is in the post second class and it's my ID to fly to Edinburgh on Sunday . It's looking like my daughter and husband will fly and I will be catching the train on my own to meet them there! 87. Hi Sue
Another stunning card today. I like how you have two images superimposed on top of one another. Still to watch the video, seems to much to do in one day.
Pam it looks like Steph is correct in her assumption that the physio hasn't heard of a telephone. I'm lucky that if ever I need it and they come out to me, I have one living next door to me. She works at the John Radcliffe hospital but does house visit as well..
Norah it seems to me that Robbie is learning more at his school than he would at a big school. Kids are so not well behaved at school these days, but that's due to the parents having no control. I work with 4 year olds, that's reception class, and some of the children are awful. Which disrupts the whole class. Some of the parents are even worse that the kids, believe me.
Steph try not to do to much today and hopefully you will re charge your batteries.
Hugs to Pam, Robbie, and special hugs to mrs B and Sandra.
Hugs to all in need of one today. I'll close now and get off my soapbox.

  92. Good morning Sue, and all the ladies.
Beautiful card today, Sue. You have done it again. Brilliant idea for cards that will "pop out" at you on the mantelpiece (or in my case every surface available!)
Pam, sorry to hear the physio didn't turn up - get on the phone because if you just sit back and wait it could be another week, and that's a long time in physio land. I've always gone to the Freeman in Newcastle and they are great.
Norah, I'm with you on the thin hair front. Cut straight with a side parting and a ribbon bow in one side - and not a Sue Wilson bow either! I was born during the war so you just took whatever your mum gave you to wear. Very few clothes and no choice!!! Two pairs of socks, which I wore clean one day and turned inside out the second day before they were washed (everyone did that then), thank goodness I didn't have smelly feet. Then later in the 50's we had a choice.
I hope everyone has as good a day as they can, I'll be going home after our short stay in the Cotswolds so better get the toilet bags in the case and shake a leg.
Oh, I forgot to congratulate the blog winners, so congratulations.
    Thanks Sue xx

  93. Lovely card not too o.t.t. May be a boy card. I personally love bows, pearls, microbeads etc

Sue take a breather you must be exhausted I don't know how you do what ou do you have a TARDIS that creates extra time!!!

Gail, you have had a traumatic year with your brother being ill and then dying. Bereavement is exhausting people seem to think that grieving end sat the crematorium I always say that is where a very long journey begins. Enjoy some R and R and be gentle on yourself xxx

Steph, don't over do it. Your body is telling you it wants a rest - listen to it! Tilly wanted to go to Lynne's again yesterday for more foam clay she got off her at weekend.I had sold my nappy cake so treated myself to the heist as tree die!!! Just love that shop old stay there all day and not see it all,

Love to all the crafty crew xxx

Beautiful card, I love blue-and-white, this card with these gorgeous dies and snowflake stamp is a real winner - I really want to have a go at this one.
Hope you're having a good day, take care Love Brenda xxx

Pam, how frustrating to be waiting for the physio, hope you get a message from the hospital today.

Steph, I really feel for you, listen to your body don't go pushing yourself too much. But IF you have a small burst of energy, I did (for our grandson) my take on Sues gilded striplet card, he loved it, AND I used the Guilding flakes! You could get away without using Guilding flakes (I wouldn't want you to be in a total state of collapse) and use coloured or metallic card it would work, take care LOL
Norah, I love the story of the hair, my hair has always been dreadfully thin and straight, as straight could be, also I always had to have my hair short, because if there were headlice around I would be the child to get them! (used hair conditioner on our girls hair to get the tangles out, didn't realise at the time but that's why they never had headlice) I still recall having my head on mums lap and she combing it through, whilst I was very quietly sobbing into the towel my head was resting on. Mum used to tie the biggest bow on top of my head, I hated it.... My sister by comparison had long hair thick hair that fell into waves and she NEVER had headlice. AND never had it cut until she was about 14 (she could sit on it) - how I envied her that head of hair.
I was born in 1942 my parents never had much money and there was still rationing, so I lived in hand-me-downs or cloths from church jumble sales, I just had to accept the situation. How times have changed!

  135. Hi Sue

A lovely card. Stormy sky is a favourite colour & you can't beat snowflakes IMO. Congratulations on your 5100 followers, we all understand how busy you are so the draw is something to look forward to.

Steph, sounds like you need a rest. Have a lazy day and recharge, gentle healing hugs for you and Cheryl, Ita, Diane, Baby Leo, Pam, Robbie and anyone else who's ill, recovering or in pain.

Really enjoyed seeing my best friend Wednesday. She brought her dog & the roofers had left for the day so the dogs played. They are both big dogs so it was all fair! They'd both had active days so they stopped for a snooze in the garden. My friends dog, Rosie, knows I have treats about so follows me like a shadow. She's only a year old, she copied Billy doing sit, down & paw when she was a baby to get a reward & insists we do it every time I see her, Billy loves his Auntie so follows my friend everywhere. We even had neighbours watching the dogs antics! It was a lovely 3 hours that took my mind off things.

I'd hurt my wrist while walking Billy before my friends' visit. My fault for only wearing a sports wrap around support on my wrist & not a hard brace. It got worse over the evening, when I had tea I couldn't use my knife. I did an assessment (I did injury assessment & treatment qualifications when I coached, partly so I could treat my own, frequent muscle tears & sprains), was not happy so off to A & E (thankfully quiet on a Wednesday night). No breaks but diagnosed a severe sprain, soft tissue damage in the wrist joint so I have to wear the brace for 4 weeks, powerchair only for at least 2 days. Not great but at least it's the left & I'm right handed. I can rehabilitate it myself so no worries there. Injuries aren't welcome at the best of times but since I had the nerve blocks (5 weeks ago) the muscle spasms in my legs & feet have got much worse, last night I actually cried it got so bad- generally I don't cry as I did that so much in the first few years I used up my quota! Will report to GP as a matter of course but can phone hospital after 6 weeks so will do that too. Forgive me having a moan but needed to share

Have to get busy with Alex's birthday card & his stuff for uni he wants me to make so will have a distraction! Brace will not affect me using the sewing machine or the type of crafting Allex wants me to do. Will do me good I think.

Special hugs for Sue, for being a constant inspiration & for bringing us all together, also for Yorkielass June, Janet Ecco, Norah & Rory, Lynda, Myra, Lindsay, Maria, Theresa, Julie Laz, Brenda and anyone I forgot or who needs hug. Hugs especially for the Wisonettes who are new or who are not in the UK.

    Wishing you all happy crafting,

    T xxx

  136. Hi Sue,
Really like todays card. I love blue and white and this just looks so tranquil somehow!
Could do with some tranquility here! My cylinder vacuum cleaner blew up this morning! My husband's question was - what did you do? I promise I was not swinging it round my head or riding on it!
Pam - so sorry about the physio. Hope you get some explanation today and hopefully some physio too!
Steph - please don't try to do too much. Hope you feel well enough very soon to recommence your battle with the dreaded flakes. Sending love to you.
Norah - you and your plaits got me thinking too! I too had them but had much thicker hair then and the boy who sat behind me in school used to carefully lift one plait and put it in his inkwell - full of ink. I would then toss my head and there would be ink everywhere. Mum used to go mad - school uniform covered in ink.
    Happy days!
Gail - hope you have a lovely holiday - you truly deserve one. Safe travel.
Love to all. Must go as I'm on the last kitchen cupboard!

  152. Had a chuckle over the Church jumble offerings, I had hand-me-downs from my older sister. Our Mum was a great seamstress, made all her own clothes and ours very often, too. One year she bought some fab material - white background with the Coronation Coach and horses about 18" tall in full technicolour - even had the Queen sitting there in all her splendour - so we had matching new dresses. Trouble was, it was two years after the Coronation so we looked a right couple of divvies!!
