Never Give Up

Good Sunday morning all!  It's all about the background for this one.  I have used the Vintage Alphabet Soup stamp by Becca Feeken and gilded it.  I dabbed flake and glitter glue across the stamp and put my milk card to the stamp and rubbed over it quickly.  I set the stamped image to the side so the glue had a chance to turn clear and cleaned my stamp completely.  It is important to remove the flake and glitter glue residue from your stamps.  I gilded the design with Verdigris gilding flakes and used a piece of Rubit Scrubit pad to refine and remove the excess flakes.   I cut the background into three equal strips and matted them with milk card and attached the strips to soft gold card with mounting foam.  I used the Scalloped Borders to add a decorative feature to the card.  I cut it out of milk ca5rd then matted it with soft gold card and glued it across the background.  I made a flower out of cream coloured felt (from our blossom felt pack) by folding a strip in half lengthwise and gluing the edges.  I then did diagonal cuts all along the strip and rolled the felt into a flower (I used Cosmic Shimmer dries clear glue along the edge as I rolled).  I seated the bloom on a messy bow tied from chalk seam binding and gold tulle.  I stamped a sentiment from the What Defines Us set (also by Becca) and heat embossed it in gold.  I used some antique linen distress ink while still in the die as well.  I tucked the edge of the tag under my flower.  I finished up with a pierced layer, a soft gold mat layer and a final milk card layer.  Finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x 7 1/2" in size.

It's time for the Sunday Comment game winners.  The winners this week are:

Kitty Davies!!!
Kayleigh B!!!
Gwen 70!!!

Congratulations all!  Please email me at americansue1@gmail.com to confirm your address and claim your prize.  All for now, Sue x

    morning Sue
I love this background stamp and it's gone to the top of my wish list for stamps.
It's such a bold image that it really makes the card all by itself (does that make sense?)
Must try making a flower your way with felt and see what turns out. Congratulations to this week's lucky winners.

  77. Good morning Sue and fellow Wilsonettes,
I think this beautiful card should be sent to one lady in particular on this blog as through all her ups and downs this card just sums up what we all feel about her. I since she is starting to conquer those pesky gilding flakes, it is so appropriate for her. Good morning Steph from one creaking gate to another.
I like the triple panel effect on the card it just enhances the opulence of the gilding flakes i think and i have finally got some of your felt to try out these felt flowers that you keep making as i think they are beautiful. The flower die you have used today makes the flower look like pom-pom chrysanthe or dahlia, any roads i like them. I got a pom-pom one in a bouquet from my hubbie today for our 23rd anniversary, its the first time in years that i have received flowers from him (maybe getting soft in his old age) so that has perked me up a notch or two this morning.
Have a great Sunday everyone and i hope to see you all tomorrow.
    Love and crafty hugs
    Norah (Glenochil)
P.S. i got a card addressed to Norah< Glenochil from the postman from my wee cousin in Peterborough, and the NEW postman knew who to bring it to. Not sure if that means i'm famous or imfamous...hee hee hee

  100. Fantastic card today Sue - I would not have believed that you had gilded the panels, they look like panels cut from expensive foiled cardstock. I must give it a try - I have so much gilding flakes and glue but little time to use it though! I must retire from work sometime, will 2014 be the year????

I don't mind retiring but will I be able to still enjoy my hobby with so little funds available?

Oh well! Craftihappiness to you all love from Pearl

Pearl, YES you WILL be able to craft after retirement, just cut your 'card' accordingly - see what I did then ? : ) you just have to save for what you want, but you appreciate what you've bought more than just spending because you can. Ive been saving for a few packs of Foundation card, and Im SO proud now I have it I dont want to use it !!! How daft is THAT !! : 0
Cameeli - you know what they say if you get the jitters when making a presentation... Dare ya : )
Woohoo, well done to our 3 Wilsonettes, enjoy your gift xx
Oh, sorry Sue, how are you today ? Warm I presume, in the 70's is it ? My meds and Morphine took longer than normal to kick in today, so I've been kind of resting, as much as I can with a craft fair next Sunday with only 4 Valentine cards made !!! I need to get myself in gear and carry on regardless !
Oh Sue, todays card is out of this world, maybe I should go shake the picture in front of my tub of guilding flakes, boost them up by telling them THEY could look that pretty, although I showed them who's boss the other day, and they were quivering with fear I can tell you (not pushed my luck today though)
Your card is so opulant Sue, everything says regal and special, I think Id be too frightened at the moment to do a whole card blank in flakes, I hold my breath guilding just a small panal, Im sure my lips would turn blue if I attempted that much (and all the comments I've read are so sweet thank you all) : )
You Wilsonettes are wonderful, Im sure Sue is so proud of you all : )
Im off to shower now, as Im aching just a little and have to have a full day of crafting tomorrow (how I wish I had you all helping) bet you all make amazing cards - those Ive seen on C&C should be framed, and I bet Mrs.W would agree : )
Love and BIG hugs to all Wilsonettes.
