Morning everyone! Opulent Ovals and Scalloped Borders are the die sets that created today's offering. I started with a piece of coconut white card that I embossed with the Whimsical Flora embossibility folder. I need to make the background larger so I moved it and embossed it again. Next I used the Scallop borders to cut two matching borders for the sides of my card. I cut the blue one using one of the decorative inserts and one of the cutting edges. Then I cut a slightly larger matching black border using just the same cutting edge. I taped them together so the black shows through the decorative insert are and mounted both borders facing each other on the edges of the card using mounting foam. I glued flat back black pearls down the edges. For the focal element, I used the largest size of the Opulent Oval die set to cut out my back layer in black. My blue layer used the next size in the set for the cut edge, then I added in smaller dies during the embossing stage for a pretty effect. I stamped my sentiment and then cut the smaller sizes to create a frame for my sentiment. I mounted it with foam above my stamped phrase and trimmed away the excess card. I mounted it in the middle of my focal element. I added a final double white mat with my usual pierced inner layer to complete the card. Finished dimensions are 7" x 8" in size. All for now, Sue x
Love the design of the card but the blue and black too strong for me - would use paler colours to achieve a softer look - but great card.
ReplyDeleteGood morning Sue what a great card i do like these boarder dies. I always use them when i need a pretty boarder. I just wish i. Could come out with the designs that you bring us. Take care Sue xx

ReplyDeleteA beautiful victorian gift this morning. Doesn't the centre dies make a wonderful cameo effect and highlighted by the inserts just finishes it all off.
I really do love the colour scheme and would love to see it in different colours - must try this out - I feel it would suit a lady who doesn't like all the fancy fancy fripparies but who really appreciates a beautiful card.
Back to a full crafting day for me and oh what pleasure that gives.
Thank you for your offerings and pure inspiration.

Hi Sue, Not too sure about this one. It probably looks better in real life. It appears very dull on my screen. hugs, Carol S.xx
ReplyDeleteThis is sooo gorgeous Sue, I absolutely love it.
ReplyDeleteHi Sue
ReplyDeleteI thought this is a pretty card i'll have a go at making this one. I went to my magnetic folders and thought how strange, most of my small fancy dies had vanished. Then remembered I bought my daughter the spellbinder artisan and thought my dies must have gone back to London with her, so I won't be making this card today after all. Just think of all those gaps in my folders now just waiting to be filled. "Happy days" :-)
Kind regards
Tina X
Oppulant is the right word for these dies, this design is lovely. Though I think I would have liked it even more with one of your bows.
ReplyDeleteTake care now, love from Jackie C XXX

Dear Sue
ReplyDeleteLove this card, These colours remind me of wedgewood china patterns. The bracket die cuts are beautiful and I also have these on my wish list (next month is my birthday perhaps I will get a chance then to buy them, and hopefully a couple of other sets too! ), I love the opulent ovals and how you've embossed the smaller sized dies into the inner oval.
I could imagine this could be used for a man or woman's card and would look fab in a variety of colour ways.
Thank you for your inspiration and hard crafting you do for us,
Best wishes from Katie-Louise
Hi Sue again,
ReplyDeleteForgot to say that I love the embossed background of the card today it really makes for a great card starting point I keep forgetting about using my embossing folders I should use them much more than I do and I really love them and the effect they give you.
Today's card is something that bit special for those who aren't into all the stick pins and bows and sparkly bits that many cards have (must admit I'm a bow and sparkles fan) this card shows that cards can look special without them.
Hope you are having a great time back home with your mom.
Best wishes from
