Morning all! Back on the plane again today and headed for California this time! CHA starts in the morning, I can't wait! I will be keeping my eyes open for all sorts of new goodies to bring your way I hope. Today's card was a bit of an experiment and while it is not my absolute favourite card, I was really chuffed with how it came out. The corner got a bit damaged on the trip home from Florida last time so please ignore that! I started with the blue background and stamped it with the Embroidered background stamp using just a clear perfect medium. This gave me that watermarked look that I think adds a lot of interest, but doesn't overwhelm. You can see it nicely in the close ups below. I used the Vintage label and banner die to cut an aperture, but decided to do two of them facing each other for a unique shape. Next I stamped my stamp using a clear perfect medium pad in the same orientation on white card. I used white embossing powder for a tone on tone look to it, adds interest, but doesn't overwhelm. Next I stamped it again on matching blue card with a black ink pad. I coloured the image with pencils, added a sticky adhesive sheet, cut it out then micro beaded over it for my focal element. I stamped three of the matching embroidered edges in black on blue card. I cut them out with the matching edgeability dies and glued them into a petticoat style border at the bottom of my card. I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with the small heart die from the set. I tied a messy bow out of seam binding and added some black jute, putting the heart in the centre. I matted the card with a mix of blue and white and pierced the edges to finish it. I meant to ask what do you think of the colour of the blue card? I have just added this to my card selection with the teal and blush. It is starting to grow and take shape, I am very excited! Finished dimensions are 6 3/4" x 8" in size.
Also a quick reminder that Julia Watts has two shows today at 1pm and 6pm on Create and Craft TV. Be sure to tune in and watch her fun demos! All for now, Sue x

ReplyDeleteSome interesting techniques here Sue, ideas to work from.
ReplyDeleteHi Sue, sorry I am commenting late today. Been shopping all day (yay!), although not for craft stuff (boo hoo). I love the colour of this card. I'd say it was stonewashed denim, although I realise the colour might not be true on my screen. It gors really well with that justrite stamp anyhow. My favourite part of this card is the way you have produced three borders together and they look like tall flowers. Very pretty! Hope you have / had a good flight and enjoy CHA. can't wait to hear all about it. Will be glued to C&C to watch the live broadcasts for the next three days. Hope to see you! Maddy x
ReplyDeletePretty card, I love the way you have made the frills at the bottom using the dies.

Nice card. I would do this in a different colour as I'm not a "blue" kinda person.
ReplyDeleteHi Sue,
ReplyDeleteThis is one of the cards I've seen on the telly...first, hope you and your family are all well. Now, the 'blue' card...well, I love it! Hope you can add this to your neutral card stock collection with your teal and blush. It's gorgeous...the card, hmm I like it but not as much as the Kraft card vintage plane....sorry!
Lots of love, Aggie xxx
