Good Monday morning all! A very traditional Christmas card for today's offering! It is now really just around the corner, isn't it! I can't believe how quickly it has come around, where has the year gone? I picked out a red and white decorative paper for my background. I cut a smaller piece of red card that I embossed with the Holiday Magic embossibility folder. I matted it on white card and positioned it in the centre of my decorative paper background. Next I cut out a frame using the two sizes of the Heirloom Ornament 2012 (the largest size, then skip a size so you get a wider frame). I embossed the same pattern into my ornament frame by placing my frame atop the folder, keep the embossing folder open and lay the tan mat on top. You will need to add a few pieces of card as a shim to make up for the missing depth from the embossing folder, then cover with the white adaptor plate and run it through the Grand Calibur. This will emboss the pattern but leave a pretty clean edge where the die was (an extra frame on your frame so to speak). I added foam mounting pieces to the back of this piece for dimension. Next I stamped the Justrite matching ornament stamped and coloured the top and bottom red. I mounted my ornament over this piece, trimming away the excess. I decided to decorate the top of the ornament by making a flower using the smallest die in the ornament set. I cut out ten of them (you can cut them two deep easily to speed it up). I edged them all with Fired Brick distress ink and used a stylus to form the ornaments to look like petals. I used a small circle punch and put glue in the middle and laid each piece around in a circular pattern. I trimmed a tiny bit from the inside edge of the inner "petals" and glued them inward a bit. I covered the centre with a large flatback pearl. I tied a messy bow using Lipstick red American seam binding and attached my flower on top of it. I pierced the edges for a nice defining finish for a fun, traditional Christmas card. Are your cards all finished and posted? LOL All for now, Sue x
A very classy elegant Christmas card which would be a joy to receive.
ReplyDeleteGM Sue - very christmassy! Still a few more cards to do - only special ones left now - hopefully all finished this week but we shall see....
