Hi guys! A weekend break from the Christmas cards, but they're back for today and a great big bow too for those of you having bow withdrawls! Okay, it's probably just me (and Sue P, see I do read the comments!) Cream and Gold for the ornament card, which is definitely more traditional than some of the others I have shown. I used a small printed decorative paper in a really neutral tone for the background. On milk card, I stamped the sentiment with a clear perfect medium pad and embossed it in gold. I scored the piece with vertical score lines around the sentiment for interest. I added this piece to the bottom of the card and added a small strip of gold card as a border. The new layered scalloped lace was added down the left side of the card for texture. I cut out the Holiday Ornament using the largest die and then one of the smaller dies for the inside, creating a frame. While the ornaments were still in the die, I placed them atop the small polka dot mask and embossed the pattern into them, leaving a nice clean edge from the dies. For the inside of the frame, I embossed one of the snowflakes on to milk card. While the die was still in place, I inked it with Antique Linen to bring the pattern out a bit more. I added a flatback pearl to the centre of the snowflake and a small bow to the top of my ornament as an accent. I mounted the ornament on foam pads over my embossed snowflake to create my focal element. I tied a double bow from the silky crush ribbon and added it to my card where the small gold border met the lace border. A couple of pearl stick pins and a square Dazzler finished it off nicely. The paper piercing around the edge and a small pearl swirl finished off the rest of the card. Are you in the mood for Christmas yet? All for now, Sue x
Absolutely stunning, I love this card, and back to my favourite bow.

Hi Sue. Another really pretty card. I am not sure how you could emboss a dotty background folder while the spellbinder die is still attached. How does that work? I love everything about this card, it is perfect. I really like the colours too!! That bow is fab!! I love the lace but don't have any myself. I think replacing the lace with a morrocan or Asian border would look just as nice instead.(or any other intricate borders too!!) Love Tres x x x

ReplyDeleteHello
ReplyDeleteI stumbled across your blog, you obviously enjoy your craft, its a pleasure seeing another crafter get pleasure from what they do.
Being a gilder I use gold leaf and imitation gold leaf rather a lot. I wonder if you have thought of applying gold to your cards? There are also several ways to apply antique or distressed finishes.
If you have a moment pop over to my site and take a look at how to gild on paper, its easy using imitation gold leaf, and you can create various antique and distressed finishes.
Good luck.
Richard
