Hi everyone! I know that is an awful title when we are so hoping for a bit of sun and a summer of sorts! I think you may thank me, though, for pushing you to make your Christmas cards early this year. You might even have a lovely stressfree December if you do! Here's another one for your consideration. I really like this card, it won't win any awards but there is just something about it that makes me smile. I started by embossing my background with the polka dot mask, then extending it another inch and half to make it the size that I needed. I then cut out all my tress with a nice green card. I doubled up on the smallest one. There are actually two versions of this card shown in this post. The original one that I made used the Flora embossibility on the trees (shown below), but it turns out that it wasn't on the show. So when I demoed this card, I used the tiny mask to emboss the trees. I thought you might like to see the different effects so I have included pics of both versions. I can't quite decide which I like better, you be the judge. I left the trees in the die then placed them all atop my itty bitty polka dot mask and embossed the pattern into them. On the largest tree, I added some swag with the pearlie swirlies across it. I mounted my trees using some foam mounting pieces. I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with with the Vintage Lace accent die. I inked it with Antique Linen distress ink while in the die. I cut one more of the same shape and used it together with the first one for a really lacy effect (offset it slightly). I added it to my background with foam mounting pieces and then added some pearl Cosmic Shimmer PVA glue dots around the centre. It really sets it off nicely, doesn't it? I tied a double bow with the cream silky crush ribbon and added it to the corner with a large round Dazzler in the centre. Finished off the card with my usual piercing and Bob's your uncle! (I love that saying! LOL) All for now, Sue x
Love that Christmas Tree, another lovely card and again my favourite bow.
ReplyDeleteHi Sue, I did not think much of the Christmas tree dies when I first saw them but on seeing this card I am beginning to like hem more. I think he embossing brings the trees out more. Lovely card.
ReplyDeleteWilma
i prefer the second version on the blog here, re think snow! i can't really imagine anything else but rain, no idea where our Summer is but at least it's not too cold.
ReplyDeleteLoveboth versions of this card, but have to say the second embossing is my fave.
ReplyDeleteHi sue love the card I would rather not think about snow
ReplyDeleteTake care
Jayne
Hi Sue
ReplyDeletepretty card but not my cup of tea. do prefer second card as I like the embossed effect better. hoping for some sun before I contemplate xmas cards! Have a great day.Sue H

ReplyDeleteHi Sue, lovely card, think the polka dots are my favourite. Bx
ReplyDeleteMorning Sue, I have to say i prefer the spots as it looks more like snow. With all this lovely rain at least we are not tempted out into the garden so crafting all the way.

Happy Independence Day Sue!! Yep I have these dies I will probably use my cosmic shimmer and try to do swirls on the trees with those, Thanks as always Mabex
ReplyDeleteHi Sue, I love the green and white, it looks.so fresh. Can you imagine, if all this rain were snow, we'd be snowed in for months, still look on the bright side, there would be no Olympics. Best wishes, Lesley x
ReplyDeleteLove your card... those trees are great, aren't they?

Morning sue, I really like the Christmas tree with the flora, but the small dots also look good, I think what you have pointed out well is that we just need to be brave and experiment the worse that can happen is we recycle a bit of card? be bold and brave crafters take on the mighty calrd with the support of the Grand Calibur and Sue! happy crafting!
ReplyDeleteHappy Independence Day Sue
ReplyDeletewhat a lovely card to wake up to!
Love the colour of the trees! Wish it was snowing!
Love the embossing, ribbon dazzle and all!
Have a great day!!

Morning Sue i much prefer the second version myself , the bow works a treat .
ReplyDeleteWhen i was little the saying was ....
"Bobs your uncle and Fannies your aunt "
hehe just thought id pass you this bit of useless information ,it did use to make me smile though .
Elaine H X
Hi Sue
ReplyDeleteWell i dont want to think of snow having more than enough rain. lol
the card is lovely .
joyce.e
I can't choose a favorite tree either, so I'd probably send one of each through the diecutting machine at the same time and use both! It's definitely my cup of tea. The swirly flourish is a perfect embellishment. I must be on the lookout for the tree dies.
ReplyDeleteGreat card I like the second one gives it more detail, but with the first I suppose you could glitter some of the dots to look like snow ,Melanie
ReplyDeletePS: I'm a Yank, so had to Google "Bob's your uncle." How very British!! Love it and may start to use it.
ReplyDeleteHi Sue, brilliant card today, some nice ideas to try.
ReplyDeletelv norma
What a gorgeous card and.......I love snow (lol)
ReplyDeletehugs Linda
Love the embossing and the bling. I would never have thought about using the swirl like that! Jenx
ReplyDeleteMorning sue I love everything about this card. I've got the tree die and when it came I thought I'd never use it but seeing used with other dies it looks great.
ReplyDeleteTake Care Sue

Lovely christmas card today. Quite simple but effective. My personal preference is the flora embossed trees.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Nattyboots that the saying was "Bobs your Uncle and Fannies your Aunt". Don't know where it comes from but it sounds fun...
Elizabeth x
Morning sue, lovely card I really like the embossing folder you have used on the tree, not sure about the swirl on it though, it detracts from the simplicity of the tree. Zerena
ReplyDeleteGood morning Sue such a simple but wonderful card and i love the title ...i think we all like the snow scene as long as we don't have it but i suppose i still like it even if i can't play in it anymore lol... think i might have to get that embossing folder i can see alot of uses for that one and the swirl looks like a snow build up on the tree xx gail
ReplyDeleteHi Sue
ReplyDeleteI did not think I would need this tree die as I liked the fancy one better, but I could be putting this on my wish list after seeing this card and all the different embossing folders I have would just change the look.
Happy Independance Day
Happy crafting
Tina x
Morning Sue, A truly beautiful card, yet again. I love both options of embossing, but the flora Mbossibility folder is just like a tree, it's uncanny. Love the lacy die, it is beautiful, and the bow just gorgeous, as always. Such a simple card to make (for you, ha ha) but it is so elegant and gorgeous. Lots of love from Patricia xx
ReplyDeleteCute card. Happy 4th. Celebrate.
ReplyDeletelike the embossing on the trees. A very pretty card. Laura O
ReplyDeleteSimple but very effective
ReplyDeleteI like this tree, but still prefer the other intricate tree! However I do like what you've done with this and it's useful having different sizes to create perspective.
ReplyDeleteSorry but I dont really like these tree dies - they are too heavy/wide for me. I recieved my holiday tree die yday - woweeeeeeee! you just cant beat that I reckon -

Hello Sue
ReplyDeleteI too like the tree embossing on the second card....and Sue! Happy 4th July!..... even though you live here most of the time lol
loveMarg
Get Christmas cards made now and enjoy a stress-free December! I totally agree - wonder if I can do it? This card is great and simple to make when you are doing lots. Just change the embossing, change the placement of the trees, even change the colour and they will all look completely different! Great idea.
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Sue. Very pretty. The polka dots embossing folder is my favourite folder and i keep going back to it. Its about 40 degrees here so still can't get my head around Christmas but I'm warming to the idea.
ReplyDeleteHi Sue.
ReplyDeleteAnother lovely card. I like both versions. All we need is snow and we will have had everything but sun this Summer.
Take care,
Evis.
Great card Sue - I agree the spotty embossing always works well and the die certainly works well the way you have used it
ReplyDeletemorning Sue from a beautiful warm and sunny morning in Burgundy.
ReplyDeleteI think I prefer the floral emboss on the tree - perhaps that's because I have that folder! - but I love the concept of the card - I'm programmed for more c.cards today out in the garden as my other half is going to sweep the chimney!!!!
Janet x
My preference is for the flora embossibility rather than the polka dots for the trees, but both versions are pretty!
ReplyDeleteLovely card but i don't want to think about christmas yet!! LOL I've just come back from holidays so have to check out the cards from the last week. Soniax
ReplyDeleteNot sure if I like these dies but nethertheless a lovely card.
ReplyDeleteMorning Sue,
ReplyDeleteHappy 4th July.
I like both versions of your card even though the dotty one shows as black on my screen.
This would be a good card to batch make but each one could be varied slightly.
Have a great day.

ReplyDeleteClare x
Good morning Sue, Love both versions, but have to day the polka dots is my favourite. The dazzles are fab and love the swirls.
ReplyDeleteHappy 4th July, celebrate and enjoy.
Like Nattyboots and Elizabeth we used to say Bobs your uncle, Fannys your aunt, so funny and taken me back in time.
Have a great day everyone.
Hugs June xx
Hi Sue, I agree with Wilma wasn't
ReplyDeleteimpressed with dies when You showed
them but the embossing really makes a difference
I am thinking of buying them now.

second one it looks more tree like.

Have a really good day.
Jane Llewellyn
Morning Sue,like Wilma I didn't really go for this Christmas tree when first seen but it certainly is having more and more uses. My favourite has to be the original one as I think the Flora embossibility gives it a more tree like finish. Another lovely Christmas card. TFS. Enjoy your 4th of July.
ReplyDeleteHugs Christine H xx
like both versions but the second embossing is my favourite
ReplyDeleteanother for me to try, thanks Sue
ReplyDeletexxx
Another gorgeous creation Sue. I really like this one, even I must admit, I´ll rather think of sun and summer than of snow right now ha ha ha. But this is definitely one I would like to try here soon, no doubt of that, it looks awesome.
ReplyDeleteIts won an accolade for its beauty and simplicity TY Sue!
ReplyDeleteSnow? If all the rain we have had was snow we would be up to our necks in the stuff by now! Love your card Sue, the second one is definitely my fave. Pat x
ReplyDeleteHi Sue
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely card I'm still catching up with your shows i recorded when i was in hospital so haven't got to this one to compare but it doesn't matter as all your cards are beauties
Thank you
Lizzie (serial copycat)xox
Good morning. Brrr it's bad enough thinking rain all the time. However, I have a Christmas card demo day to prepare and this tree would be a very useful die to have. Thanks for another inspiring card. xx
ReplyDeleteI like them both and great design for multiple makes x
ReplyDeleteHappy Independance Day Sue, I like both cards and couldn't choose. Like many others I didn't like the tree die but it is growing on me after seeing your samples. I'm making a start on my Christmas cards later on today using some of the POD dies so I am going to look at previous posts for inspiration.
ReplyDeleteHugs x
Hi Sue Beautiful card.Think the dots work better as seem to be snow. The rain may be keeping me in but despite your inspiration, no Christmas cards made here yet!
ReplyDeletethere's some great christmas ideas this week.

ReplyDeleteHappy 4th July Sue. Lovely card again. I'm definitely going to start on the Christmas cards today!!
ReplyDeleteCarolyn B x
Hi Sue, and happy 4th July,
ReplyDeleteAs I'm going on holiday this week and hoping for some sunshine I don't really want to think about snow!! However, I like the effect of both of the embossing on the trees so can't choose a favourite. I'm going to miss tuning in for a fortnight but will have the anticipation of catching up on everything when I come back home. Then, I might think about Christmas cards!!
love from Jackie D
Hi Sue, Happy 4th of July. Love this card, and given that the weather is no good for anything but crafting, we have no excuse not to start our Christmas cards.
ReplyDeleteLove Rosemarie xx
Hi Sue,What a beautiful card.take care vanessa xx

Hiya Sue, Happy 4th of July.
ReplyDeleteLove both cards, my choice of embossing would be the floral against the poka dots. Going to Newbury show, shame you won' t be there. May-be next year, eh! Best wishes. X
Happy 4 th July. Loving these embossed trees.
ReplyDeleteMorning Sue
ReplyDeleteLike both versions but think I prefer the embossing on the second one. The embossing brings the trees to lif. I too don't want to think snow would like a little sun first.
Hi Sue. This tree template looked rather bland, but when embossed it had a completely different character. The floral embossing has my vote here.
ReplyDeleteHappy 4th of July. Anne x
Lovely christmas card Sue
ReplyDeleteThink I prefer the embossing on the small picture just because it stands out more on the spotty background
Sue xx
Love this card and the embossing on the trees, I really like the trees with the floral embossilities on them. Another must try. Love Linda xxx
ReplyDeleteI like the lower embossed version to this card Sue. I wasn't keen on this tree die, the edges are too rounded for me, but you have made a pretty card from them. (Christmas trees are spikey IMHO)
ReplyDeleteHi Sue, both cards are equally lovely but I think I would choose the one embossed with the flora folder - it's more tree-like:-).
ReplyDeleteFrances
I'm with lacelady - the tree die is not for me, I prefer the more intricate one. But the card you made grows on me.......
ReplyDeleteGood morning Sue
ReplyDeleteI love this and the idea getting Christmas sorted extra early. It is no good watching the weeds grow faster thanks to all this rain! Perhaps we will get a some sun when it snows, never give up hope.
Margaret
Morning Sue lovely card. the trees looked black on my pc and i think it looks great like that so may try that colour way. xx hazel
ReplyDeleteMorning Sue,
ReplyDeleteThanks for this card. I needed some inspiration for this die. It's simple but effective.
Erica x
I like both cards Sue but the pattern on the trees stands out more on the teal colour. Am pleased to say that I have started xmas cards, thats sad, but thought if I do a few every week they will soon be done but thanks for the extra inspiration. Sue B
ReplyDeleteHi Sue,
ReplyDeleteI love the green and white, but I am not keen the Christmas Tree die, but I do like the one just released.
Sorry, I feel guilty when I am not keen on one of your cards.
Janet
Hi Sue, love the card. I have printed it off & placed it on my inspiration wall. It's a little bit edgier, a little bit more funky than your usual style. It may be a simple look, but the design is incredible. Shame you cannot emboss felt. I would love this as a winter cushion. With Love & Light Theresa.H
ReplyDeleteHi Sue. Really great work. I am loving it. I love the first one. Looking forward to see more. Would you like to know more about Scrapbooking ideas and scrapbooking supplies?

Hi Sue, I really love this card, and will forgive you for it being a christmas card ha ha, especially as you gave us two examples. My conscience is slowly being pricked and I will try and get my christmas cards going by the weekend, and I am sure I will be blessing you when I can have a rest in December, although by then I suppose we should be thinking about New Year's Cards, ho hum a card maker's work is never done thank heavens!

Think I like the second one best Sue - the one with the flora embossing background. I also like the ribbon going across the card. There is one thing though (sorry) but I would have had a snowflake background on the white card - predictable or what?? LOL Lurve the swirlies loads.
