Gardenia In Vellum

Hi blog friends!  Can you almost smell the sweet scent of this delicate gardenia?  I have embossed it in White on vellum and cut it out. I did three layers on this one.  The entire flower and leaves on the bottom, the whole flower on the next layer and finally just the bud on the top layer.  I used a ball stylus on the petals and rubbed them til they turned white (there is a bit of a funny shadow, but it is really a lovely semi opaque white).  I added a touch of forest moss to the back of the leaves for a light colouring.  I mounted the flower in an oval that I had inked lightly with Tumbled glass distress ink.  I cut a white Floral Oval for it to sit upon for my focal element. and added a messy bow that I ties and scrunched from white American seam binding.  A fancy button and a couple of pearl stick pins adorned my bow.  I embossed a piece of teal card (which, by the way, we will be stocking soon!) with the Washed Away embossing folder.  (Just another little tidbit too, the Couture Creations brand embossing folders are usually just offered on a limited basis, once it sells out, it is gone and new ones are shipped bimonthly.  However, the Tied Together folder has been so popular that I contacted our supplier and asked if we could do another run of them and they have agreed! I will keep you posted on the delivery date once it has been confirmed.)  I stamped my sentiment in black and cut it on an angle so it would sit across the corner of my card.  Using one of the edgeability inserts, I cut two decorative strips and matted some pale aqua card behind them.  I added some foam mounting cushion on the strips and used them to edge and frame my sentiment.  I added some lovely pearl swirls to the top of the card and pierced the edges for a finished look.  A quick note, though, I have been notified that Dawn Bibby's show that these flowers were to be on has been postponed until July 30th in case you are interested.  All for now, Sue x

  4. As soon as I saw "gardenia" in the post title, I had a flashback to the gardenia-scented bubblebath I had as a child. Then I saw your opening sentence and had to chuckle! Yes, the card does evoke very pleasant memories of that scent. I like the angled sentiment and framing. It's a keeper!

  161. Hi Sue, I love this card, I also do Pergomano and so have lots of lovely Parchment in all sorts of colours, I will have to try this type of card, it will certainly be lots quicker than the traditional using a mapping pen and pricking, how strange I have never thought of combing the 2 crafts until now lol. Missing you on C&C but am tuned in to lovely Julia as I type. Hugs Liz C x

  168. Himself, a beautiful card so stylish, younarenso inspirational and Imlookmforward to your email everyday. Is this stamp going to be part of a plate or as a single stamp? Is it a creative expressions stamp,or a Heartfelt Creations? I am In Cyprus when it's being shown on C&C so would like to see if I can purchase it elsewhere on my return. You take care, you missed a fantastic POW on C&C Julia did a fantastic job it was the fastest sell out ever! Even beating your record. Look forward to,you coming to this side of the pond soon.
