All About The Teal

Morning craft friends!  Ah teal and black, what a nice combo, huh?  I really like this card, so simple yet so striking, I think.  From your comments on previous cards, I gather that the verdict is still out for many of you on the Cut, Fold, Tuck dies.  Hopefully this one will sway you towards the positive.  I cut about a four inch strip of teal card and embossed it with the Elegance Embossibility folder.  I used Black Distress ink to highlight the pattern and tone the colour. I added a black mat for contrast.   The Samantha Walker Nautical Frames and Accent die set provided the curly accent border.  I stamped my sentiment in the lower corner and very lightly inked the edges with more Black Soot.  I added a piece of black silky crush ribbon to the left side of my card and taped the ends to the back.  I tied a double bow and added it with a glue dot.  I topped the bow with a fancy black button (from my stash) and two decorative stick pins.  The focal element is simply the Floral Burst Cut, Fold, Tuck die cut from double sided Coordinations card that is black on one side and teal on the other.  This type card is perfect for these dies as you see both contrasting sides when you use it.  I cut it with the black side to the front and folded all my pieces so the teal sections were showing. I glued the very centre pieces so they stayed down and added a black pearl to the centre to finish it off.    Piercing the back mat layer finished it off nicely.  Obviously you could do this card in any colour and it would work, but the teal is the one that works best as far as I am concerned!  Loving the teal!  All for now, Sue x

Teal is my fav at the moment and again I don't get the chance to use it with the kind of cards I've been doing, mostly wedding christening communion etc.

  87. I bought a couple of these dies, cut them, admired them and put them away - not sure why they didn't grab me but the notion went through my mind that they were kind of outdated looking but your card looks great Sue, especially in those colours. I think we are so spoilt for choice with the spellbinders dies (particularly within the collections) and some of the dies just take back seat until someone comes up with new ideas on how to use them. I cut them in half at one point and thought they looked quite nice layered as halves and placed at the top and bottom of different labels. I'm sure there are loads of great ways to use them.

For those who aren't into the cut, fold, tuck dies they are great for men due to the fact that the engineering of them interests them, obviously do a more masculine scheme. 142. Beautiful colour scheme but still do not like those dies!!! They just seem quite old fashioned to me and dont compare to all the lovely floral dies that Spellbinders make. Each to their own it would be boring if we all liked the same thing. Looking forward to your next show, you have really been missed.

  144. Oh lord Sue, I think I am really losing my eye sight. I adore everything about this stunning card, colour, layout, design elements etc.... but to me it looks like aqua blue and black. Ah well, I would love both colour combos and the card itself is AMAZING, so who cares what my silly eyes see!!
I adore the cut, fold and tuck dies, just won't be buying them as I really am trying to save for some Grand dies and hopefully your newest creations!!
Thank you again Sue for all the fabulous inspiration.
Love and best wishes Linda xx

  146. Yay!!! Teal (goes with anything, I think)!! Love it with the black and, of course, the black ribbon and bow make it perfect. I think I'd like the Cut/Fold/Tuck dies, but they're not in the crafting budget right now. I do enjoy watching what you do with them, though.

  161. Stunning Super Singer, I love the teal and black, the big bow, I love the whole design. I love what you have done with the tuck die, Im not really a fan of them though, I think its because they are a bit manly and I love all the girly pretty things, when I clone this one I will probably use a persian or morrocan motif in its place. thank you as always Helen O xxx

  178. I can't believe that the verdict is still out on the cut fold & tuck dies. They are gorgeous. I have a Silhouette Cameo, so did not feel the need to buy a Grand Calibur or any Spellbinders. These dies changed my mind. I bought the machine and these dies the same day I saw them. Now, of course, I have an ever growing stash of Spellbinders and my poor cameo is feeling a bit neglected.
