Morning everyone! I know that it is Sunday morning, but since I will be at sea when this post goes live, I am going to have to skip the comment game drawing this week and do double duty next Sunday. I hope you'll understand and let me slide on this until then! For today's card, I would like to show you a fun card that showcases several different dies. I started by cutting the two smallest dies in the Grand Dahlia set and making a frame. I cut two exactly alike out of light blue card. I wove the dies together so that every other pointed section went either over the top or under the other die. Once finished, they are hooked together and will quite easily stay there. I put some small pieces of mounting foam on the back and attached it to my background which I did in three diagonal pieces. Top and bottom corner were black and white houndstooth paper and the centre strip was an embossed patterned black card. Next I cut a Spectacular Spin to fit inside my woven frame. On top of that I added a Moroccan motif in black. I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with the smaller Moroccan accent piece and inked the centre with Broken China distress ink to balance my blue frame. I wrapped a piece of black silky crush ribbon around the bottom of the card and added a double bow with a fancy button and pearl stick pins as accents. I added some rhinestone swirls in the corner opposite my bow for balance. I finished off my card with Cosmic Shimmer pearl PVA glue dots. The finished size of this card is 6" x 8 1/2" . Did you notice that I slipped in some of my beloved houndstooth? LOL All for now, Sue x
Such a clever use of numerous dies, and yes I did notice your houndstooth paper. I also think this would be spectacular in softer colours too. Loved the bow.

So pleased that you share with us as it is a chance for my brain to grow. Thank you
Ria
Hi Sue, Hope you are having a good time. The first thing I noticed was the houndstooth! It reminds me of a mini skirt I wore to a school disco when I was 15! My school was a Catholic Convent, so it was very naughty to wear such clothing Lol!!

ReplyDeleteLove the houdstooth (or dogtooth).... like the colour combo too... hope the cruise is going great x
ReplyDeleteHi Sue, Another great card.
ReplyDeleteI liked Carol S's comment about the Houndstooth! I can remember houndstooth pencil skirts being popular. They only cost 19/11 in old money but my Mum still wouldn't let me have one! Was in my 20's by the time minis arrived and my favourite outfit was a white polo neck sweater with a red tartan mini. I still have the mini in the back of my wardrobe - but not the 22" waist that went with it unfortunately!!
Hope the cruise is going well.
Sue x
Hi Sue another gorgeous card, loved the grand dahlia dies and wished I had got them, hopefully they will be back soon and this time I won't hesitate x
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, I love the backing paper! xx
ReplyDeleteWow! Another stunner Sue! I love the colours and the bow!
ReplyDeleteThank You....
Barney Bear
Love the colours on this Sue. I've only got a cuttlebug at the moment so can't use the big dies. I so wish I'd brought the bigger machine now for a lot of reasons (the Mbossibility folders won't go through sideways so can't lengthen the pattern either). Will have to start saving but how can when you keep bringing all these lovely dies out! Have a great time. Teresa (Nottingham) xxx

ReplyDeleteHi Sue, the houndstooth reminded me when I was a mod in the late 70s/early 80's when I had a skirt made down carnaby street. Sue Parish made me laugh...Sue P, sadly I no longer have the skirt and certainly wouldn't be able to get into it today! Still a mod at heart! Hope your enjoying the cruise. x
