Hi guys! It's a bit early for Valentines Day and this certainly looks as if it could pass for a card for that special day, doesn't it. Using the heart circles, the heart edgeabilities and the three hearts in the right corner, one would think it was for Valentines Day, but I wasn't even thinking along those lines at all for it. However, when I finished it, that was all I saw! Oh well, sometimes we just end up somewhere completely different than where we started from, huh? I actually cut three of the heart circles, one in red, one in white and one in black. I snipped between each and every heart around the circle so that they could be pushed forward to create a frilly edge to the circle. I embossed the background with the folder called Intrinsic to create a swirly texture background. I used the white Inksential pen to faux stitch around the inner and outer black mat on the card as well as the centre of the border. The border was created using several of the edgeability dies with hearts in them.
I added a black and red plaid bow from ribbon in my craft stash. A black button with Bakers Twine and two decorative pearl pins complete the bow.
I used three hearts that were leftover from cutting the circle heart die and added them to the corner to complete the card. Maybe I should have kept this card to post in February, who knows! LOL All for now, Sue x
Wonderful card Sue. That bow is simply divine and the button and pins are the finishing touch. I do love red and black together.

ReplyDeleteI wouldn't have thought to cut three of the heart circles myself - it looks wonderful. You are certainly full of inspiration! It does look like Valentine's Day and also a little risqué given the black and red theme :)
ReplyDeleteA particularly bold and striking card, Sue. I love the ribbon - shall be looking to buy that, definitely, would be fab for next years Christmas cards. I like the extra dimension snipping and bending the hearts brings, wouldn't have thought of doing that myself. Am learning so much from this blog Sue! Always watch your demonstrations on TV and at the shows and enjoy that very much, but at my age it's too easy to forget how it's done! I love being able to scroll back the instructions on the blog. Have your DVD too and love that as well. Thanks for all you do. Hope today is bearable and still thinking of you, Sue x

ReplyDeleteGood afternoon Sue,
ReplyDeleteAn absolutely stunning card, as always, that reminded me immediately of Mya singing at the beginning of 'Lady Marmalade' in Moulin Rouge.
Risque but beautiful.
With your permission I would like to offer up a poem I read (I have amended it slightly):
THE GREATEST GIFT OF ALL
Dad taught me life's lessons,
Of right and of wrong.
And instilled in me values,
That I might be strong.
And on through the years,
as my hero he stood.
Working to give,
in all that he could.
His presence was important,
I loved to see him smile;
And no one in the world,
Could emulate his style.
And so dear Dad,
My best memory to recall,
Is the gift of your presence:
You were the greatest gift of all.
* * * * * *
I pray you find yourself smiling through the sadness as you recall all the happy memories and (if you believe) I pray God swiftly brings you inner peace.
