Heartfelt Thanks

Hello bloggers!  I have been having a bit of fun with the Sunflower Stained Glass Circle here, but not in the circles!  I started by embossing the background with the Art Deco Flowers embossing folder on a piece of Arctic Blue card.  Next I cut the Sunflower Circles three times out of white card that was doubled each time,  That way, I got a backing piece for each of the flowers so I was able to paper piece them.  I cut the die again three times out of straw yellow card and paper pieced the petals into the flower.  I then cut the die three times out of khaki card and used the fall away from the leaves and paper pieced them back into the white dies.  I cut the circles off of each of them, then added them to the background with foam mounting tape.  I cut a couple of white clouds from the Twinkle Twinkle Cloud and Stars set.  I cut the Heartfelt Thanks out of chestnut brown card and glued it to the top of the card.  I added dries clear glue to the flower's centres and sprinkled Dark Bronze Polished silk glitter on them.  The card was completed with white mats and layers.  The finished dimensions are 6 3/4"  x  8 1/4"  in size.  All for now, Sue x

  3. Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, what a great sample, and I am intrigued to know that you double the white card and then cut them and others 3 times, I am going to have a go at this to see if I get this same effect, watch this space.

  4. Hi Sue I do love a sunflower they are full of happiness and they are coming into our homes a lot more rather than just a flower to compete with. I hope you have or are working on a tutorial for this sample as I'm intrigued. Homeward bound today after a peaceful few days in Snowdonia. Keep well everyone xx

    Goood morning Sue and all.
What a lovely surprise to see the die I won as today's sample.

I will most certainly be coming back to this when I've done my morning chores. I will be eager to try if my eyes will let me (LOL)
    Thank you Sue.

  9. Hello Sue, a lovely happy card. Sunflowers are so uplifting.
Like others I am intrigued that you double the card and I am thinking that this cuts the top piece of card and only marks the bottom piece so that you have a base to paper piece to. Don't have the sunflower die yet but might try this with another

  23. Hi Sue. I do admire your patience with paper piecing. I find I can't cope with the tiny pieces so I usually don't even try this technique which is a shame because the results are so effective.
