Happy Eveything!

Hello crafters!  Today's card is a bit of an experiment that I tried and really liked the results, however, it isn't something that you can make in a day!  I will explain.  I started with a piece of acetate and added drops of green, blue and violet crystal tints and a sprinkle of Midnight Marine Holographic Glitter to it.  I covered it with Cling Film and squished it all up so you can see all the interesting wrinkles.  I set it aside to dry and this is the part that takes awhile.  Since there is no card to absorb the product, it takes several weeks to completely dry.  Once dry the cling film is virtually cemented to the acetate though.  I did glue the entire piece to a piece of white card to bring out the colours in it.  It is definitely something you need to do and put in a drawer to dry way ahead of time, but the results are very pretty.  I added a thin black mat and another white mat to it.  For the focal element, I cut the Mallory die in white and added another one in black as a shadow.  I cut the Happy Everything sentiment in Cobalt blue and added a black shadow to it as well, then glued it in the centre of the card on a rectangle mat.  I cut the peacock from the Proud Peacock set and inked it with Blueprint Sketch and Peacock Feathers distress oxides.  I cut about twenty extra feathers and inked them with those colours and a bit of Forest Moss on the tips then glued them into the open spaces on the peacock.  I dabbed a bit of glue on them and sprinkled them with Frosted Sparkle Glitterbitz for a bit of bling.I added the peacock to the side of the Mallory die. The card was completed with white mats and layers.  The finished dimensions are 6 1/2"  x   8 1/4"  in size.   All for now. Sue x

  2. Hi Sue. I'm quite hooked and addicted to the quicker pixie powder cling film technique and have a lot of backgrounds ready to use but this experiment sounds interesting my only problem all the drawers in my work space are full to bursting with craft items, if I added one more items it would fall to the back never to be seen again but it looks well worth the waiting as your sample is just gorgeous. Hope your day is a lovely day xxx

  15. Wow... that background is awesome, and so are the die cuts! Fabulous card! Wondering about the tints you used, if they are re-inkers or alcohol inks? Since it look so long to dry, I am thinking re-inkers. A gorgeous effect! I can think of several ideas to use backgrounds like this, so I should do some experimenting!

  27. Hi Sue. What a very striking background. From the pictures it almost looks like it is shattered glass. Not sure if I would have the patience to wait that long before being able to use it though but if you are having a session of creating lots of backgrounds you could always make a few of these to set aside for later.

Good Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes.

An absolutely beautiful background and worth the waiting time for special friends and family.
I don't think it would be economic for those who sell their cards but not sure about that. I've never yet been able to get my head around the use of scrunched up cling film.Is it part of the finished project or not. I did try it once but that would be a whole new story.lol.
    Have a great day.

What a fantastic card this morning , the background is amazing with its stunning colours and sparkle. The effects you get from the cling creates a look like its a real feather. This would be a card for someone very special. I have only tried the caught in crystal effect with pixies and glitter on Acetate.
The peacock works beautifully with background and adding the hint of black really makes the design stand out.

I don't know if I have that much patience but you did a very interesting and beautiful background card which really compliments the pretty peacock die cut.
