Warm Winter Wishes

Hi bloggers!  Back to a Christmas card today (have you started yours yet??)  I selected a white and aqua combo and used the Denise die to cut into the white card twice in the centre in a diamond orientation, slightly overlapping each other.  I backed it with aqua card to show through.  Next I cut another Denise die but I used the outer cutting die this time to get a full one not just cut into the card.  I backed it with vellum for a softer look.  I also used the inside die this time to add more detail.  I added mounting foam behind the solid areas to raise it and mounted it in the centre, covering the over cut areas in the background overlap.  I cut four of the centre die in the Denise out of white card and added them into the dour corners of the card.  Next I used the Warm Winter Wishes cut in both aqua card and black card.  I shadowed the words with the black then glued them diagonally across the card.  I added white, black and aqua card mats and layers to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x  9 3/4" in size.  All for now, Sue x

  1. Hi Sue
Oh this is such a delight. Definitely not a card that I would put in the ‘traditional’ category but a real beauty.
I love the use of vellum - it just adds something special to any card. Aqua is such a beautiful shade and is still there amongst my favourite colours for cards.
    Happy Monday everyone x

  4. Hi Sue. Aqua, such a pretty colour for festive cards and even prettier with a gentle sparkle. Not what we'd 'class' as traditional but it's just so nice to throw tradition out of the window sometimes and with this gentle soothing sample you've done just that. Counting down to the days before we look forward to having the best of the best on our screens again. Sending hugs from me to you xxx

  32. Hi Sue, love the card. No I've not made any Christmas cards yet as we started a big house project during which my Husband has had a fall and is now in plaster so I'm behind getting the house finished (including my craft room). The way it's going my family will be lucky to see a Christmas card, never mind a handmade one (lol)x WakeyL

  41. Hi Sue, a lovely card. I have the Denise die and she is beautiful so maybe I can pinch your idea here of the vellum backing and create something similar. I have lots of bits ready to make Christmas cards, it is just putting them together that I haven't done yet :-)

  46. Hello Sue,

This card will certainly bring "Warm Winter Wishes" to the recipient. If feels so crisp and clean with a lovely mix of color and texture. The Denise die set is one of my favorites.

    Have a wonderful day.

  47. White and aqua combo are not exactly the traditional colors for a X-Mas card, maybe not even the design is not a classic Christmas one but still a very pretty card. This will be well received by my younger friends for sure.
I agree with everybody that the vellum adds "something special to any card ", "gives a lovely soft effect" and "makes the card look so elegant".
