Butterfly Stained Glass

Good Sunday morning all!  I found this little gem in one of my folders and just thought it was a beautiful card to share on a Sunday morning!  I started by cutting the Butterfly Stained Glass out of coconut white card.  I glued it to acetate and used crystal tints to colour it.  I filled them in from the front of the die cut (you can also do it from the back if you prefer.) I used the Yellow Citrine, Rose Quartz and the Lime Peridot Crystal Tint colours for the card.  I mixed the yellow and red to add a bit of orange to the card.   Once dry, I cut another of the Butterfly Stained Glass dies and glued it on top of the original one to hide any marks from the crystal tint in those tiny areas.  I cut a backing card of white and added a self adhesive sticky sheet.  I peeled the backing off and added Frosted Sparkle Glitterbitz.  I left a rather wide border around the die so I added tape and attached it over the glittered background piece. I love the way the glitter shows through the crystal tint areas and gives it a subtle sparkle!   The card was completed with white on white mats and layers.  The finished dimensions are 5 3/4" x  7" in size.  All for now. Sue x

Such a pretty card today. I love your stained glass dies and the crystal tints really make them stand out.

Good morning on this wet and windy Sunday.
This card is lovely Sue and it is so long since I bought the die and have never used it. I believe I bought 3 of the stained glass dies at the time so maybe this is the day I should go hunting for them.
I love the colours and design of today's card and your instructions are clear so I really will have a go,
    Thank you for the inspiration.
    Hugs.

  18. Good Morning Sue....And what a great start to my usual Sunday morning. Sunday in our house is cleaning up day. My husband does the room...dusts...polishes...brushes the settees and vacuums. I do the rest upstairs... kitchen...then the dinner. So this beautiful card really made me feel like I want to get on with it. So sunny and cheerfully. Thankyou Sue. Sending hugs and best wishes to everyone. Kind regards Ann Toppcards Leeds.

  28. Hi Sue. What a lovely bright card for today and that stained glass die certainly lends itself to those colours. How clever to use only white in the background to make the colours pop.

  35. I have had this die for quite some time and have paper pieced with it and used micro fine glitter with it but have not tried the tints. Must give it a try, maybe using the poinsettia square.

  39. A bright and beautiful card design for today. I agree the glittered layer looks great coming through the Crystal Tints. I will have to do this Butterfly Stain Glass die using the Crystal Tints. I have done the Sailboat Stain Glass with the Crystal Tints and really like the result. Are you using a spray glue to adhere your die cut to the acetate? The last time I used liquid glue to adhere my stain glass die cut to the acetate, I was not happy with the result. Hugs.

What a delightful way to start the day. So colorful, bright, and cheerful. Just like the perfect summer day. Your flower frames are just lovely and the Crystal Tints are just the right medium to use with them.
