Just Because

Good Sunday morning all!  It's a fire and ice day today!  I started by cutting the Celtic Circle Background die in black.  I covered the front of the die with a sticky adhesive sheet.  I turned it over and filled in the sticky areas with Persian Dawn Gilding Flakes.  I trimmed the excess sticky sheet even with the edge of the die, then peeled off the backing paper on the front and coated it with Iced Snow.  I cut a Pierced Flag in white and used the Just Because sentiment cut in black and attached to a white shadow and seated it on it.  I cut two of the Petal Pocket flowers in white and added black centres with pearls.  I added them to the edge of the flag with leaves and Fern Frond accents.  The card was completed with white and black mats and layers.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/4" x
7 1/4" in size.

Okay, here is another fun question.  If you could have three famous people (from any period in time) over for dinner, who would you like to break bread with and why (you wouldn't have to do the cooking , of course! LOL)    Can't wait to see your answers!  All for now, Sue x

  2. Morning Sue.
    Thank you a lovely card.
I would pick you, Florence Nightingale and Sir Winston Churchill.
I really do not know why the other two came to mind after you.

  3. Hello Sue, a gorgeous card, love your fire and ice technique.
After giving a lot of thought and in no particular order, I would invite Barack Obama, Sir David Attenborough and
Princess Diana. All three I have admired for their work and perhaps over dinner we could save the planet, make it a safer place and sort out human injustice Lol. Wouldn’t that be wonderful.

  6. Good morning Sue,
A stunning and dramatic card that would make a great mantlepiece pleaser.
As for 3 dinner guests I found this tricky but feel that Prince William, Prince Harry and Princess Diana would be lovely to reunite, although I would feel that I was intruding by joining them.x

  8. Good Morning Sue. I love your fire and ice technique. I keep promising myself that I will do this but never get around to it. Today's sample is really lovely.
Sue...Thankyou so much for my lovely gift that arrived so quickly...yesterday morning. If I can make just one card as lovely as you do with it...I will be well happy.
There are so many famous people I would love to ask round...but the most important person of all...although not famous...would be my Mam. Just one precious hour or two would mean the world to me.
Sending hugs and best wishes to everyone. Kind regards Ann Toppcards Leeds.

  9. Hi Sue
    A stunning card.
Very hard to pick 3 people, but I finally settled on: Dolly Parton because I love her songs and how she gives books to children around the globe and has such a lovely sense of humour, Fred Astaire because I am in awe of his dancing in old films, and JRR Tolkien so I can ask him all about his books.

Of course, I'll invite my family, I miss my mum, sister, niece - but also my brothers who are very much current, and my adopted granny whom I adored - and then the three famous people:

Elvis, George Harrison and the Elephant whisperer Lawrence Anthony. It's a varied mix, but they'll all get on, I would think.

  27. Hello Sue
Lovely sparkly card today. I have been pondering all morning with your question I would love to be able to sit down just one more time with my mum and big brother but famous people Morecambe and Wise and Tommy Cooper made me laugh and there is not enough laughter in this world. Stephanie I hope you are feeling alright I am used to seeing you near the top of the page.

  29. Hi Sue. Nice to see the return of the Fire and Ice technique which suits the Celtic Circle die so well.
As far as the dinner guest are concerned, this is such a difficult choice. It would have to be with like-minded people who would be able to bounce ideas off each other, so I have gone for the creative types - Angel Strawbridge (from Escape to the Chateau), Lou Withers (for Mixed Media) and, of course, the one and only Sue Wilson. If you asked me the same question again tomorrow it would probably be completely different people.

  30. Afternoon Sue. I'm later than normal as I've been thinking long and hard to find the answers to your question. It's just dawned on me while my 'keeper' and I were talking family - I have no family whatsoever to ask those questions that I need answers to now, I was young when the older family members passed, and second cousin's etc made no sense then, so to answer your question I would really adore my dad at my dinner table, he lived 4 weeks after our daughter was born and managed just one short cuddle, so I'd love to introduce him to Lou and her husband, and of course now her daughter and Lottie, they would absolutely cherish him as my keeper and I did. But I'd also love to invite my nan and aunty as they would have the most wonderful and thought provoking memories to share which now at my age would be enthralling. You asked lol. Who are your choices Sue ?
In my minds eye today's gorgeous inspiration will be so full of sparkle that it really needs to be seen in real life to get its true beauty.
I'm now going to scroll up to read all the interesting visitors our blog friends have invited to a meal and I'm looking forward to reading the posts. Thanks for opening up such a conversation piece and for allowing me to share my thoughts with those that feel like reading it lol xxx

  33. Hi Sue, a gorgeous card and I love the fire and ice technique - I really should do it more often.

The are many people from history that I would like to invite to dinner and it would be hard to limit it to just three and my brain is on a go slow so cannot name any. I would love it if you dropped in yourself and of course my mum who enjoyed painting and was a musician, I know you would get on.

Hi Sue, I love your fire and ice technique and the flower is one I use regularly.
My sentiment die arrived yesterday. How quick was that? Thank you so much. I will be using it next weekend.
We're going to the Lake District for a few days so hopefully I can access WiFi (a birthday treat).
If I could chose 3 people, among them would have to be:-
Nelson Mandela, Winston Churchill and Vistoria Wood to make us all laugh if things got a little too serious.

Beatrix Potter - to discuss her books and their popularity and her legacy to the National Trust
Florence Nightingale - all the good work she did during the war

What a stunning card, the fire and Ice technique looks great, it was a good reminder for me to make more cards using it as I have not made any for a while.

I would love to sit down for Dinner with Elvis Presley, imagine listening to tales of his life and him possibly singing a song just for you, also Mindy McCready, a not very well known Country Singer who also died when she was young, and Dolly Parton who came from humble beginnings and could also tell us lots of tales about her life! As you can probably tell I love Country Music!
