Good Sunday morning all! A pretty mermaid card is in order for today I think. I started with a piece of
Ocean Card and used the
Moonlit Storm Luna Paste through the
Wavy mask (one of my favourites!) I matted it with silver mirror card and white layers after it dried. I cut a small Square frame using the
Double Stitched Squares and added it with foam to the centre. I cut a wide flag using the
Stitched Flags and seated the Mermaid sentiment on it. On the left side I used the sitting mermaid from the
Mermaid Kisses die set. I cut her out of both milk card and
Seafoam card. I inked the seafoam lightly with
Peacock Feathers and used clear embossing powder on it to give the body a shiny finish. I inked the milk card with
Tea Dye for her hair and used
Antique Linen for the arms and a little bit of
Worn Lipstick for her cheeks. I attached the shiny body to the other mermaid and added her to the side of the frame with foam. I ran some double sided tape around the edge of a slightly larger piece of
Ocean card and glittered it with
Ice Blue Polished Silk Glitter. I added the piece with the mermaid with foam to the centre. Thee card was completed with white and silver mirror card mats and layers. The finished dimensions are 8" x 8" in size. All for now. Sue x

I look at this lovely sample and wish I had the confidence to sit and gather all the wonderful things to make a gorgeous background like this, I just know I'd make a right pig's ear of it which is why I shy away from trying masks and stencils, but I do love looking at all the pretty backgrounds you make, and the very pretty mermaid sits beautifully on top of her waves so bright and sparkling. Off to market so I'll send my own wishes hoping whatever you do today makes for a beautiful day xxx

ReplyDeleteI love that background. Well I love the whole thing - the beautiful mermaid is wonderful but that background!
I love the wavy mask as well - probably the one I have used the most from my collection. The Luna paste looks stunning on the ocean card. That mask and your Mermaid Kisses were so obviously made for each other.
For anyone who is apprehensive trying the mask/paste fun and games - give it a go. I was convinced I would make a real mess of it but it’s not as tricky as you think! Then it becomes a bit addictive and you end up with a table (and a floor) covered in all your masked backgrounds drying out! Go on - live dangerously!

Good morning Sue Fabulous card the mermaid is beautiful I love this mask too I first bought it when you showed a sample with the wise men striplet a few years ago & I have used it such a lot In fact I made a card for my Granddaughter yesterday & used it as a background using distress oxides & glitter paste I must try it with luna paste next I love the effect given with the silver mirror card & the silk glitter on this card Sue they finish it off so well
