Petunia Flower Square

Hi bloggers!  I think it's about time for a pretty flower square card!  I started by cutting the outside portion of the Lesley die into a piece of coconut white card.  I backed it with the new Arctic Blue colour (it is such a soft pretty blue!)  Next I cut the Petunia Flower Square die in white and in black card.  I adhered the black version to a square of sticky adhesive sheet and used that as my base.  I cut the die again out of Old Rose, Khaki Green and Arctic blue card, keeping all the fallaway pieces from each of them.  I paper pieced the colours back in using the old rose for the petunia, the Khaki for the leaves and the Arctic blue for the background.  Once it was all pieced together, I offset the white die cut over the black outline.  I cut a couple of the Jocelyn die and cut them in half and used the decorative pieces just under the edge of the flower die as a soft accent then mounted it in a diamond orientation in the middle of the card.  White and Arctic Blue mats and layers were used to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x  6 1/2" in size.  All for now, Sue x

  1. Morning Sue. This is just gorgeous. I so need to buy some of the new coloured cardstock it really does look beautiful. Your Petunia die looks really easy to paper piece with no teeney weeney pieces to worry about pinging round my work table, I need to remember the top tip you shared in Feb about a tiny bit of glue dot on the top of your pockey tool. Every sample this week has been adorable and this beauty is no exception. Thank you for sharing this adorable delicate Petunia/Lesley/Jocelyn sample, have a really lovely day xxx

  11. Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, another beautiful creation today, I have all these dies but not the lovely blue card so will have to use what I have in my stash when I have a go at this one. The dies are amazing, cut just like butter with the bits all falling out nicely.

Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

Ah the Flower Square dies - gorgeous. The feltmark card colours are just so lovely
Have been watching Julia on HOCHANDA and she has been showing off your dies and stamps to perfection. Vivian and Lesley are such fabulously intricate dies with large amounts of pure genius thrown in for good measure! Also nice to be able to see the true colours of the feltmark card.
    Happy Thursday everyone

Another beautiful card for my morning treat Sue. I do like paper piecing as long as the bits are big enough to see and this one looks perfect. Shouldn't be too long before I'm allowed back in my craft room.

  24. A simple but very effective card. Love it.

I do like the look of some of the new coloured card stock; it is such a shame I no longer live down the road from CE so can’t peruse before I buy, I can’t buy it locally unfortunately.

Beautiful design. I like so much that you remind us we can cut apart the die cuts to create something else than just the design one gets from the single die. Atleast for me, I seem to need to be reminded to do that and to always LOOK at the die cut for other patterns. Thank you.

  36. Hi Sue. Love how the Lesley die makes such a pretty background. Good idea to use the soft blue in the background which really makes the pink of the petunia pop.
