ThankYou

Hello there my crafty friends!  I just love today's card and I hope you will too!  I started by embossing my background with the Honeycomb Haven embossing folder for texture.  Next I used the Classic Adorned Octagons and made a decorative white on white base.  I stacked the next layer from that same die set on top in another white on white piece.  Next I cut the Springtime Frame in white and used Distress Oxides to ink it.  Vintage photo for the bird and watering can and Worn Lipstick, Spiced Marmalade and Fossilized Amber for the flowers and butterflies.  I used some Peeled Paint for the leaves and branches.  Next I nipped the pieces apart and glued them into place in the centre of my white background.  I cut the Thank you mini expression and inked it with Worn Lipstick and glued it in the middle of the flowers and butterflies.  I completed the card with white mats and layers and flatback pearls.  The finished dimensions are 8 1/4" x  8 1/4" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Todays' card is absolutely gorgeous. What a lovely way to say thank you to someone. The texture on the embossing folder and the Classic adorned Octagons looks as though it has been iced it is so clean cut and fresh looking. I can see both these going on my extensive wish list. Thank you Sue for the inspiration that you give us.

Have a great day everyone, whatever you are doing and wherever you are I hope the sun is shining on you.

  19. As you guys say, this ticks all my boxes! Or as I would say, oh my goodness gracious golly wow! I love this card! The honeycomb-embossed background and the swag and bubble Octagon sections, both backed in white, and the cheerful little bird perched on a blooming branch, the pretty flowers in their watering can, the butterflies in luscious colors that coordinate with the other colors, and the pearl butterfly bodies, and pearls holding back the swags and those sweet, sweet tiny pearls on the flowers in the can, oh my very very goodness.

If you hadn't already sold me on the Spring Melody Frame about two cards ago, this would have done it.

Sometimes alternating the die colors and backing colors is the way to go, but this shows how effective it can be to back two decorative die cuts in white and layer them over a white embossed background, then let all your color be in the center. If a lot of Navy officers in dress whites escorted all their dates in party dresses to the middle of the dance floor and then stood back to form an admiring circle around them, it would remind me of this card. At the beginning of the dance, while everyone is still fresh and crisp.

This is a "Thank You" that's a gift.

Happy bank holiday to those who have it.

    Best,
    Donita

Sue please forgive me if I can't get to comment for the next couple of weeks. We are going on holiday in the early hours of Tuesday morning and I don't know about the WiFi or internet there. I will miss this little half hour I have with my blog friends and my cup of lovely Yorkshire tea first thing on a morning. But you can be sure .....if I can get on ..... I will.
Sending best wishes to everyone this beautiful sunny morning. Kind regards Ann Toppcards Leeds.

  21. Morning Sue, what a lovely card, with beautiful pops of colour. This just shows the versatility of your dies as you would never think these elements go to make up a frame as they work so well as stand alone pieces. A beautiful embossing folder as well. Thank you for the inspiration.

Wow! I love today's card it's stunning. Your Octagon dies are one of my favourite sets they are so beautiful, I had forgotten that I have this embossing folder it's gorgeous! I must search out all my embossing folders and dies that I haven't used in a while and use them. The pop of colour compliments the White perfectly.

  30. Hi Sue,

Irresistable card! love the pop of colour in the focal point and the rest of the card in pure white and the best bit is that I have both the die sets you've used - was totally smitten with the CA Octagon set with those fun bubbles and elegant swags so just had to have it and couldn't resist the pretty Springtime Frame with it's little birdie and so much snipability potential - I'm going to save this design for a rainy day crafting project - who would have thought we'd finally get a sunny Bank Holiday!...lol

This is such a bright, cheery, uplifting and gorgeous card x
Those Octagons really are something else. Take the springtime frame, give it a snip here and a snip there then expertly colour it as only Sue can and voila!!
I think my version would most definitely be white on white. Using smoothie to colour is so not one of my talents. Too impatient to be delicate -that's me. Must try this using distress markers. I know they won't give the same finish because the oxides are insanely amazing but it could work, couldn't it?
I am so sorry I didn't congratulate the winners yesterday. I completely forgot - sorry. Belated congratulations to Nina, Jan and Hollyberry x
Looks like another glorious day - unusual for a Bank Holiday weekend - yesterday went according to plan - made 2 cards not just one! Yes I know I was shocked as well. Lol x

Morning Sue, I agree with Heather. When I first of all saw today's card, it reminded me of the wedding cakes my grandma used to ice. She made swags around my wedding cake and added lots of clean iced lines. Oh! Memories!!
It is such a lovely card and now I must add the EF to my long list of 'wants'as I have the other dies.
The Sun is shining and the dandelions are blooming (a blooming nuisance), so I'm weeding he garden today and looking forward to a glass, or 2, of wine later as my reward. Enjoy your day everyone. Hugs xx Pauline

You have managed to make all of these textures work together. As I am studying your design more closely, I think the textures work together because they tie in the octagonal shapes. And how nice the Springtime Frame elements look outside of their frame. Well done. Thank you for sharing.
