Thanks For Being My Friend

Good Sunday morning all!  I started with a piece of coconut white card with a sticky adhesive sheet added to it.  I peeled off the backing paper and added four Meandering Twig die cuts across it.  I sprinkled Frosted Sparkle Glitterbitz across it to fill in the remaining exposed adhesive areas.  I matted it with navy blue card.  Next I cut the Bella die twice out of Cobalt blue card and once out of white, and three times out of black.  I shadowed the white one and the two blue ones with the black die cuts then attached them to the background with the two blue ones side by side and the white one in the centre.  I stamped my sentiment then added a blue octagonal mat and added it to the middle of the card.  I added a white mat with a little squiggle around it then finished with white and blue mats and layers.  The finished dimensions are 6 3/4" x  9" in size.  All for now, Sue x

  1. What an ingenious background! No wonder I didn't recognize the embossing folder.

Glad we're back to a girlier card.

    Really enjoyed the wedding.

Morning Sue, I must say that I do love the backgrounds you have been making with your meandering twigs, die. Didn't think that I would want this die when I saw it on your launch, but having seen how you use it, I am definitely going to get it. You are such a clever girl and have such a wonderful creative mind. Like the colours used too. Hugs xx Pauline

  9. Good Morning Sue. Yes oh yes.... my kind of card and I have to say those twigs make an impressive background. When I first saw them I thought no..... I have enough leaf dies... but you have put your magic touch on these and given us a free background as well. Well done Sue. This is now going on my list. Sending best wishes to everyone on this beautiful Turkish Sunday morning. Kind regards Ann Toppcards Leeds

  13. Hi Sue happy Sunday ☺ apart from the team members and the other companies under the CE umbrella tell me the names of other companies that design dies that can also replicate embossing folders - that's what we call versatile if you like, I think some of us guessed at launch that you'd use the twigs as a background but never guessed just how much it would look like an actual folder, only you Sue could design like that. I never seem to be able to extend a die without the join showing ! I extended the thin heart border die from the heart romantic edger and there is a slight mark where I extended it and not in a place that can be hidden with a flower or butterfly so I have no idea where I'm going wrong but I obviously am lol
I just love this sample so easily put together but has a big punch to it, your friends would know how special they were to you if they received a special gift like this (plus the dies used would look just as beautiful for those that make the smaller size cards)
Wherever you are whatever your plans have a great day xxx

  27. Hi Sue
    Absolutely gorgeous x
Meandering twigs are exquisite. Cobalt and white does not seem to feature as often as it used to but when it does, wow does it pack a punch. It is such a striking combination x
I can see where the confusion arises regarding that lovely background. I am lucky enough to have the meandering twigs die so spotted it straight away. I can see why it could be mistaken for a rather elaborate embossed background.
Got to say meandering twigs is well worth considering as an addition to anyone's die collection - it is so delicate and pretty x
Yesterday card was striking as well. Apologies for not commenting. I was glued to the tv from 7 am and thoroughly enjoyed all things Royal Wedding. Did anyone else watch it then watch it again? Then watch it on the news, then turn over to watch it on the news on the other side? Or was that just me? Got so caught up in the emotion that I forgot to comment - so sorry Sue x
Going to a Christening today and it is Jakes Birthday so thought I had better comment beforehand in case I forgot again!
Beautiful sunny day here with blue skies. Hope sun is shining where you are. Sending lots of love to all specially missing friends x

The idea of using dies as backgrounds works a treat I have done it before and am always thrilled with the results. The meandering twigs gives aa attractive finish well worth adding to one's collection.

  50. Hi Sue, a very nice card if a little large for me and I love the background created from the Meandering Twigs and the Frosted Sparkle Glitterbitz. I wonder if it would look as good with either the Maidenhair Fern or the Spring Foliage, I can sense a play coming on later if I can find the time.

PP - I think it was just you lol. I did watch quite a bit and the way Harry looked at Meghan was quite emotional. My favourite bit as always is seeing the Blues and Royals and all the gorgeous horses decked out in their finery. Happy Birthday to Jake and I hope he is enjoying his day.

  53. Hello Sue,

A stunning card today. The cobalt and white color combination is bold and dramatic. The background that that you have created with the Meandering Twigs must be really pretty in person with the Frosty Sparkle Glitterbitz twinkling in between the twigs. Clever use of the Bella die.

    Have a wonderful day.
