Get Well

Hi bloggers!  I wanted to make a card using this frame, but give it a bit of a country feel.  I started with a piece of chestnut brown card and used the Iced Spruce Distress Oxide to give it a bit of an old wood look by swiping the pad across it.  Next, I cut it into 1" strips and reassembled it onto another piece of card so it looked like wood slats over laying each other.  I used this as the background for my Springtime Frame.  I cut the frame in white and then used Distress Oxides on the tip of a small smoothie to colour it.  Vintage Photo for the bird and watering can, Peeled Paint for the leaves and vines, Wilted Violet and Salty Ocean for the flowers.  I cut the backing out of milk card and used Antique Linen around the edge to tone it a bit before gluing the frame in place to it.  I cut the Get Well mini expression and inked it with Iced Spruce and stacked several together then glued them into place in the centre of the frame and added the frame to the background with foam.   Milk card mats and layers were used to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 6" x  7 3/4" in size.  All for now. Sue x

  6. Morning Sue. Although I feel the background could be a little more 'uplifting' for a get well card it goes really nicely with the colours you chose for the frame it makes each element stand out. Thinking about my comment had the background been much lighter then the frame elements would have had to been slightly darker for it to stand out, so that proves I've not got a clue what I'm on about lol !! You started the week with a beautiful sample and you've ended with the same what an inspiring week we've had - thanks Sue. Have a lovely day doing what you do best xxx

  9. Mmm, not so keen on the background going with the Springtime frame as it seems a bit dark for it, would be great for men's cards though. However, it's a lovely card design. Debra x

  10. What a great weathered wood look! What charming country colors! Now what made me think I could get along without that frame?

The dark colors might make it a better Miss You card than Get Well.

That frame is exquisite and lends it self to so many occasions x
Apologies for not commenting last couple of days. Went out for lunch on Tuesday and it turned out to be an early surprise Birthday bash (Birthday not til July). Very spoilt but very knackered! The fatigue descended but it was a lovely surprise and I was spoilt rotten. This included a gift of a large number of Sues new dies x
Julie you have been through it. Sending you hugs x
My prize from the draw arrived yesterday. Thank you so much Sue. I did not have enough energy to open packets but hoping to rectify this today and go through my unexpected extensive April 2018 dies today x
Weather forecast good for the weekend and hope this is the case for you. Sending lots of love to all specially missing friends x

I love this frame it can be used for so many occasions just by changing the colours! The more I see the oxide inkpads used the more I 'need' them, but I have so many distress ink pads that I don't use I'm hesitant to buy any more. Today's card has a vintage feel I love the colours you've used.

  29. A very different type of design. I like it. I like the technique you have used to make to the wood efffect background, I must try it although it would have to be with my mini distress ink pads as I can't yet justify the oxides as much as I love them.

Love that moody wood panelling in the background!...and I have the Springtime Frame so might try this idea as soon as my house renovations are finished - it's been utter chaos here for the past month what with furniture being moved from one room to another - I feel like I'm living in a warehouse...can I even find my craft room again I wonder?...lol

Now for today's card - I love the rustic look you have given it and it looks so different to the previous version with the stamped and brightly coloured flower background. This just proves how easily you can change the look of something if you have the vision which you have in droves - could you lend me little bit now and again? lol
