Best Husband

Good Sunday morning all!  With Father's Day right around the corner (in both the UK and the US, perhaps even Canada, Australia and others), I thought I would share a super simple card for you.  I started with a piece of tan card and used the Stitched Pegboard die set to create a Faux Pegboard background for my card.  I used the stitched dies in the set to add a multi layer frame of tan and Antique silver card for interest.  I layered them up with mounting foam.  From the In The Tool Box die set, I cut all the various tool dies and added silver paint pen for the metallic look on them.  I glued them all to the pegboard background as if they were from a neat an organised garage (who are they kidding!LOL)  Finally I added the Best Husband sentiment stacked a few times to it, but you could easily adapt for Father's Day or birthdays too!  I completed the card with white, tan and silver mats and layers.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/4" x  7 1/4" in size.  All for now, Sue x

  1. Love all these tool dies, they are so different and definitely very useful. The pegboard is such a great way of displaying them. Good card for any occasion.

  2. The swirliness of the sentiment contrasts nicely with the straight rows of pegboard and tidy tools. And you're right, the silver frame adds interest.

I tried Caught in Crystal today with limited success. I'll keep trying.

    Best,

  3. Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, a beautiful card here today, I have made some similar to this and they have gone down a storm, can be used for anyone really, a budding DIY'er or a even the lady of the house, yes there are many of us out there who would use these tools.

Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

  4. Hi there Sue. I love this set, although I admit to only using it once so far and made a messy looking tool box (rather more realistic for some I'd say) lol it's great fun but for those that struggle with tiny dies due to finger problems it can be rather hard and frustrating (the sticky bud tool plus other inventions have been tried) so it may take longer to complete a card but it's so worth the high blood pressure, *tuts* and sighs lol and with all the different colour inks and colouring media's it's so easy to colour the spirit level so it looks like a real branded tool. I may have completely lost all enthusiasm and my mojo may have followed our Sam a good few hundred miles from here but I still love getting inspiration for when it returns so love and hugs to you Sue and hope your Sunday is a great day xxx

  11. Great masculine card! Love the tools done with the silver pen rather than the tools cut twice in brown and silver then pieced together, it looks much more like metal with the pen. Debra x

  14. I am never short of ideas for men, just one rule, No Sport, as I am told by quite a few that they get sick of cards with a sport theme. However I am sure most of them would love these and done in a red or a pink I know a good few women who would love them too.
    This one is lovely

Morning Sue, great card. I've used these tools to make a variety of cards even for my stepson's birthday who hasn't a clue about DIY. I thought it would make a great educational 'tool' and save us a job!!

  39. Hi Sue, a lovely CAS card today for any DIY enthusiast whatever the colours. This would have been good for my husband years ago but unfortunately although he is no longer able to do much DIY he is still able to tell me what tools I should be using! :-) I bought the pegboard to hang all my gardening tools on and love it.

We have a lovely sunny day here but I hope that no-one has suffered from the overnight thunderstorms in the South and West.

  63. Such a cute "manly" card today. I love all the little tools and have enjoyed the pegboard die set.
Donita, you will conquer the "Caught in Crystal" technique. I have only used alcohol inks but I got the C/S colored lacquers and can't wait to try out. I do have to use alcohol ink for a swap so that may wait. I just got home from the beach so rather behind (including laundry!).

  65. Hi Sue,
I love the tool kit and this card fits my husband to a T. He is not only the best husband, but he is both handy and very well organized; all his tools are always where they should be.(I wish I could say the same about myself. At least I have a good memory and I can easily remember where I left a certain die set or a stamp etc.) So this will be a great birthday card for him or for Father’s day. Thank you for the inspiration.
Hugs from Toronto to you all and special hugs to all missing friends.
