Discover Art

Hi bloggers!  One way to use the Typewriter Grid die is as a complete background with the letters embossed into it! It works well with all the Industrial Chic Collection to create beautiful cards!

The finished dimensions are 7 1/4" x  8 1/2" in size.  All for now, Sue x

  5. Hi Sue. I can imagin that a lot of work went into this art work but it's just not me I'm afraid. Who'd have thought that when I first found your blog with pearls flowers bows etc your style would have changed so much, that's a sure sign of endless talent. I can't think there will be many that aren't sure about your sample but we all have our likes and dislikes on the craft scene. Thanks for the lovely comments yesterday it was so confidence boosting and kind and unexpected, I'm still buzzing from my great day at market lol - sorry ☺
Really enjoyed catching up with your recent shows Sue, more of today.
We're white over like many this morning, it may look pretty but I'm going nowhere appointment will be cancelled, so stay safe wrap up extra warm or better still stay home if you can and take a craft day lol
Sending hugs and thanks your way Sue xxx

  7. Hello Sue and all
This is a real male card, colours and style, I am not usually a fan of steam punk but I think this is "structured" enough to like it.
Really enjoyed your demos on Hochanda Sue, lots of ideas, may even go back and watch the first again if it is still available.
Had first play with pixie powders yesterday, great fun and not too bad a result for a first try. Just to make up a card using it now.
Glad you had such a good market day too Steph, Sue's dies and ideas are so far ahead of anyone else for sure. Keep warm and safe all, we are seeing about your arctic weather on the news

  18. Good Morning Sue. Lovely card I see this as a male card... may be different pastel colours would be for females... I have some of the steam punk dies but but not the ones you have used..... I really can't make my mind up about this one though. The work you put into these dies and samples is unbelievable.... and therefore you can make anything look brilliant. Sending warming wishes to everyone this very cold and snowy winters morning. Kind regards Ann Toppcards Leeds

  24. Hi Sue,

You're really letting your imagination fly just lately, I'm loving all the inspirational cards you've posted over the past couple of weeks and this one is so different to what we would normally call a "Sue card" but the more I look at it the more I like it...

Muriel - I first tried Pixie Powders about a year ago when my sister brought some down for me to try out and just like most people I ended up flooding the card so the final result was a bit wishy-washy...but I kept the piece and came across it when starting my craft room clear-out a couple of weeks ago and thought I'd try it with some new Sue dies and was surprised at how good it looked behind a decorative cut...so went straight online and ordered some Pixies for myself and have now ordered a couple more that had sold out when I placed the first order and have been having a blast playing with them...I've refined my spritzing technique to keep the colours really vibrant but I'm not frightened to add more if I want a muted effect...so my tip is never to bin any PP background, there's no such thing as a wasted Pixie sheet!...have fun...

  26. Good Morning Sue and all.
Amazing card to day and its so nice to see something different. There is so many different back grounds you can create with the typewriter grid die from Pretty colours in the back ground and adding flowers to the steam punk theme.
Looking forward to watching the video a little later.

  27. Almost forgot about that typewriter alphabet. The circles do make an interesting background. The outer edge of the Industrial Chic background seems like a zipper, doesn't it. I like all the words in the set with Discover except for the vertical Art. It doesn't read enough like a word. When I first saw this sample, I though it just said Discover. I might try cutting the letters apart and using them horizontally.

I'm a little confused about embossing the letters behind the circles. I'll have to watch that part again. I could have used a little more explanation there. The die and plate and mat and paper were flying too fast for me to follow. Knowing me, I'd emboss the letters backwards.

I do think the end result is handsome. There are few occasions I can imagine that would warrant sending a card to a guy exhorting him to Discover Art. Maybe if he's about to be dragged on a tour of Europe's castles and cathedrals, or if he's going off to study painting in Paris. We could just as easily substitute Happy Birthday or get well or congratulations.

    Enjoy your Tuesday!

    Best, Donita

  66. Good evening lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

Well, i just love the steampunk style and cant tell you enough just how much i appreciate watching you release your inner grunge. I have learned so much from you in your tutorials and whilst it isn’t everybody’s cup of tea i find it a refreshing change from the norm and your signature style.....you are showing us the length and breadth of your talents and for that i am grateful.
This card is gorgeous, a real feast for the eyes and i would love to display it on my sideboard, i hope you enjoyed creating it as much as i have enjoyed soaking it in:-)
Sorry i missed yesterdays post but i was so exhausted after yesterdays hospital visits that i just watched Emmerdale and Corrie before collapsing into bed! It was a round trip taking 10hrs and i found myself marvelling at the poor people who make this trip everyday to the Beatson for radiotherapy and chemo, they are so brave. Meanwhile, i have been fit for nothing today and struggled to focus my bleary eyes on daytime tv and Escape to the Country, how sad is that?:-)
Frances, Darcey didn’t behave herself and requested as only she can for a feed at 1am, tried ignoring her but boy is she persistent:-) Managed to get up and ready for the ambulance though so. There is a God:-)
Carmen, Yvonne sent me her creation Special Delivery just in case it went missing like the Birthday card she sweated over. I was so excited on the big reveal, expecting a vision of loveliness......boy was i disappointed though! She used Sues cocktail glass dies in a nod to my former hellraising past, applied copious amounts of glitter to cover her mistakes no doubt then framed it all for good measure.....i was anticipating a more inventive recreation of one of Sues excellent samples, that way you are guaranteed a crowd pleaser but she decided to risk using her own dubious talents, her first big mistake!:-) it was colourful, i’ll Give her that but Sue needn’t worry about the competition:-) Seriously though, I loved it and it cheered me up immensely!
Myra, glad you’re feeling better honey, good luck with tackling the bed...with your legendary ineptitude at cleaning there will no doubt be decades of muck to contend with!:-) I hope you broke the news to Saba gently, she’s very sensitive about her varicose veins:-)
Busy day tomorrow getting my hair done and yet another hospital appointment.....the snow has already started and with all the amber warnings on the news advising us to stay at home goodness knows what i will face in the morning.......
Huge hugs to all my blog besties and missing buddies, please come back to us soon, you are missedxxx

    Love and crafty hugs

  67. Hello Sue,
Sorry I’m so late I’ve been chatting on the phone -well more listening really! As you know I don’t say much!!
Today’s card I am not overly excited about but it’s not all about me! I can see the work, effort and talent there - it’s just not to my taste!
    We are all different!
Crewe Trish - thanks for the good wishes - that’s the problem with beds they are large areas on which to pile stuff! That’s why the bed is going!!
Laine - I may get a surprise when I move it but I try to clean at least once a year, whether the house needs it or not!! Kidding!!
I told Saba! Glad all went well yesterday but what a long tiring day! As you say some folks do it daily!

Pat L - Maureen sends her love! Thank you for having faith in my cleanliness! Lol!

Well I’m off to bed now before I turn into a pumpkin!
Love to all, Myra ( Friend of Maureen!) xx
