You're A Star

Hi guys!  I have to throw one in for the guys in our lives once in awhile! LOL  I really like the simplicity of this one  and think it would work great for teenage kids too!  I started by embossing a piece of black card with the Dot Matrix Pinpoint embossing folder.  I added a multi layered white frame using both sets of the Noble Square die sets.  I cut multiples of the sports balls from the You're A Star die set.  I added the ball areas on the soccer/footballs and the stitching on the football/rugby balls (depending on which side of the pond you are on! LOL)and attached them around the frame edge.  Using the Art Deco Alphabet both upper and lower case, I cut the letters to add the sentiment in the centre of the card.  The card was completed with white and black mats and layers.  The finished dimensions are 6 1/4" x  6 1/4" in size.  All for now, Sue x

  1. Lovely card Sue, just perfect for young males. I'm going to have to spend time looking back at your lovely postings, I think I have missed some crackers.
Pat, good news about hubbys leg, slowly does it. Can't believe Sarah is 10, time is flying. As long as she is doing well.
Maria, will be thinking of you today, hope all goes well.
Hope Saba is feeling back on par soon.
Elaine, any progress on your door issues, last I heard there was a fire alarm.hope Andrew and Mary are doing well.
Laine, you have been in the wars again, hope you start to feel better soon.
Rosemary, hope the seizures settle soon. I had what they called a Rigor attack In hospital, my temperature was so high but felt icy cold and was shaking so much , it was really horrible. They said it was the body's way of trying to cool down quickly.
Well hospital was eventful. Was on 3 different wards in 27 hours, once woken up to be transferred at 3 am (that's how they manage beds), had a dementia patient in a side room opposite our 4 bed ward who was violent, verbally abusive, colour predjjuiced, his language was every colour of the rainbow. One day he threw a ful water jug with such force through his door it hit a male nurse, carried on and came through our ward and hit the back wall, visitors in and all. He later tried to get into our room and 2 nurses had to hold the door shut against him. We had the police in and a security guard posted outside his room. And they say hospital makes you better. Doctors and nursing staff were superb though.
Hugs to all, hope everyone is okay, especially our missing and poorly friends.

  2. Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, beautiful card today, love it.

Pam, I am so, so pleased to see you are back today, we have all missed you so much, gosh yes as you say Hospitals are eventful but most of the staff do a very difficult job, such a shame about the dementia patient, I suspect he would be mortified to know what he had done, such a terrible illness. Anyway I hope you are on the mend and doing as you are told.

Oh forgot, I reiterate all you have said above.

Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

  6. Dear Sue and Those Rejoicing To See Pam Back at The Top of the Comments!

My reaction to this card is: Well gosh, if we have a star background die and a star embossing folder, why does this card use the dot matrix EF?

I'm guessing because this one predates the star die and EF.

So happy to have you back, Pam. What a relief! What a traumatic time you had! Does this mean you're home and well? I hope so.

Battery about to die, so love and hugs to my blog comment friends.

Pam, it's wonderful that you're home and back in your number one spot, we have all missed you very much. Please don't rush to get back to normal, the amount of infection that has been raging around your body is bound to have an affect on you and you must take things slowly so you can be well enough for the surgery. Your tales of hospital happenings sound very familiar, but the staff do the most fabulous job in such trying circumstances. Hugs to all. Sue xxx

Pam so nice to see you back in your rightful place ,you have been so missed , please take things easy until your operation,
I have just spoken to Andrew and told him you are home , he sends you all good wishes and a big hug , and says to hang on in there until they get the beggers out .
Andrew has had a few issues Pam feeling very cold and shivering on a number of occasions then he had the Pick line removed and re positioned but it would not stop bleeding ,they said it was to do with the injection he has to thin the blood , anyhow it did eventually stop . Mary is looking well and is waiting for her Chmo date , she is having i treatment every 3rd week and 6 treatments in all.

Will echo your great summery as usual Pam thank you .

What a great card today, perfect for male cards and with a background like that anything suitable can be added. Isn't the font lovely on the alphabet die, it's good to see it cut out before investing in it. I bought an alphabet die once and the letter e looked nothing like an e when cut! What a waste of money that was. Thank you for sharing.

Pam oh it is good to see you back, I hope you are resting and behaving yourself, you need to be well enough for that operation. No dashing back to work, you only go back when the doctor says you can. Your hospital stay sounds eventful! 65. Good afternoon lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

What a useful card to have in my to do folder, i always find male orientated cards a challenge and desperately need instruction in that area so this beauty is very welcome indeed! Love the pinpoint EF, it looks great as a positive or negative and provides a fantastic background to the accompanying dies. The footballs and rugby balls are fabulous, the shadow box accessory dies are invaluable, especially when personalising a card.
Can i just say that yesterdays card was stunning, good luck ladies, i hope that it goes to a loving home.
Well ladies, i am feeling much improved, i actually had all my stitches out yesterday and my bloods taken....the nurse was unconcerned about the leaking from my wound, saying that the infection had cleared so Yay! Got a phone call this morning about my liver function test, the GP wants it repeated because of the result but hopefully it will be nothing sinister:-)....they are always super careful with me because my liver failed a number of years ago due to my epileptic medication.
Thanks for the suggestions about tackling Brodie's killer tendencies, I have considered a collar with bell attached but worry that he gets himself into a pickle by catching it on branches or heavy foliage...my previous baby, Dante, had a bell collar and you could hear him coming from miles around:-), the sound reminds me of him and i have avoided giving my other cats one because of this......maybe i will have no choice with Brodie however, assuming that his hunting skills remain effective.
I also really appreciate all the well wishes sent my way, I don't deserve them, particularly when ther are others who are quite clearly suffering far more than myself, but thanks anyway, this is such a friendly and caring blog.
Pam, how reassuring to have you back where you belong at the top of the blog:-) Glad to hear that you are improving, it must be a relief being in your own bed again, particularly when sleep is consistently disturbed on a hospital ward.....you desperately need your rest so that you can build yourself up for your operation. Take care, thinking of you.
Maureen, lovely to hear from you, you are missed, Myra is very subdued in your absence, i sense she misses her sparring partner:-)
Myra, thanks for the update on Saba, i miss her tales of German traditions and sailors knots:-) Give her my love when you next speak. Hope you are well too my dearxxx
Awww Carmen, I didn't know that you cared!:-) Missing me is perfectly understandable but i cant ,for the life of me, get why you would want to hear from Yvonne!!???! Why when she is so self obsessed and boring.....i have a phone call with her planned for this evening and i am currently psyching myself up for the dreaded experience, plenty of deep breathing and meditation helps when i am faced with her repetitive drivel:-) Can i now be so bold as to assume that we are officially friends?:-)
Rosemary, glad your medication is helping, hopefully they will find a balance that will leave you free from seizures:-)
Maria, good luck with your hospital visit today, hope all goes well for youxxx
Elaine, sending hugs to Andrew because it sounds like he could do with an extra cuddle at the momentxxx
Hugs to all my besties, including Donita, Yvonne,Frances, Theresa, June,Pat and all

    Love and crafty hugs

  77. Hello Sue,
Super useful card today, thank you.
Pam, how lovely to see you where you belong! I hope you are soon well enough to have the op and that you are not in too much pain. Was you on ward 18 at the Freeman? Believe me, apart from the 6 in my bay, everyone else was sectioned, some were locked in their rooms for safety reasons - both for themselves and others. The 5 other ladies in my Bay were all deaf and in various stages of dementia. On the other Bays there were fights day and night, shouting day and night, and the sweet ladies in with me would sleep all day and come to life at midnight!! It was an experience and I begged the Consultant to let me come home.
Diane, how kind you are to a sweet old lady, wait until I see you ha ha.
Pat L, I hope Sarah had a lovely birthday. She would be so excited to be in double digits. My youngest granddaughter was 10 last year and she loved it! I hope hubby is soon able to run around again. I just found out on Monday that I fractured my hip AND pelvis!! Nobody told me that!
Carmen, I wish I could miss Saba but I keep bumping into her ha ha. (ooh, I'm in trouble now).
Laine Pet, I'm sorry to read that you've been so poorly. And to have to ring Yvonne in your delicate state, it's more than flesh and blood can bear! I hope you are soon on top form and that everything settles and goes back to where it should be.
PP, don't let Laine drone on and on, she can be a bit much at times lol.
Little Maria, you're having a procedure as well. So much has happened while I've been awol. I do hope everything goes well and you soon recover.
Myra pet, you can come out of the cupboard now. Harry Potter needs it!!
    Love to all

  87. A very useful card Sue. Thank you for this. Will be good for my grandsons and nephews. I am late again but Myra has only just beaten me to it. Pam what an awful time you had in hospital and I am sure you are glad to be back home again. Just take it easy. Echoing all your comments today.

Lovely design. Male cards are always such a problem, it's good to see a simple card that fits the bill.
Pam, good to see you are back at the top. Hope you can rest up now ready for your operation.
    Take care everyone.

  92. Good morning Sue and all the Wilsonettes. Glad you are back Pam. You can see that you were missed.
Great card for the sport lovers Sue. I have one Son 6 Grandsons and one great-grandson but only one of them is at all sporty. I also have 2 Daughters six granddaughters and 4 great-Granddaughters and none of them are into sports of any kind. I always have problems finding suitable dies for making their cards and sometimes buy a card and doctor it up a bit.

  95. Hi Sue,
Two fabulous cards and I love the vibrancy of the blue in the first one, but my favourite is the subtle and elegant second one.
Pam, lovely to have you back where you belong. It sounds as though you had fun in hospital ( not!) They seem to have a habit of moving people in the early hours , they did the same to me at 1am to put me in a' more suitable ward'. I'd just got off to sleep! The night before had come to talk to me at 1am to ask me how I'd managed to dislocate my knee replacement. Honestly, I could've hit him!! Still you're home now, take it easy and get your rest. Forget work, it sounds as though your daughter is a match for the managers- good for her. Can't believe they wanted to ring you in hospital!
Maureen I think you're a bit like me in that you don't do things by half! Hope you're ok.
    Love and hugs Alison xxx
