Faux Tiled Background Card

Hi crafters!  A really neat technique is the Faux Tiled Background.   With a bit of stamping and masking, you can create a lovely, unique background.  The video walks you through the steps.

  1. Gorgeous card Sue, just lovely. Reminds me of Delft
Karen, omg how bad is that. I hope you are not in too much pain, both you and your husband must have got such a fright. Take care, I've always said exercise is not good for your health.
Rosemary, you do make me laugh, I wake at 4 every day regardless of Work or holiday, that's why I start Work so early and if I was to have a cup of tea in bed I'd have to make it myself, it's not the same. Keep your strength up Hun, don't let the gremlins get you down, you have beaten much worse than this. You can do it.
Donita, I love Rhode Island, it is so beautiful. Don't think I have been to Conneticut.
June your workshop sounded wonderful, you seem to get lots of craft shows and workshops in your area, lucky you.
Elaine, the barbecue sounded such fun. Glad you all had a good time.
Didn't get the drive started, it rained so I made a start re-organising my craft room, wish I had friends to reorganise it for me, they would have hearts like lions. Rosemary, the young men are on their holidays, can't do work Grandma, it's not fair lol. Kelly brought the puppy over last night, he is delightful, very curious. Their staffie Meg is not so sure, she keeps hiding from him.
Crewe Trish, sounds as if you are having a great time, take care in that hot sun.
Daily hugs to all, especially our poorly and missing friends.

  12. Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, such a beautiful card today, I have been learning different techniques about stamping over the weekend so now have the confidence to do this, but I do prefer to use a stamping press of some sort. Will be watching the video later.

Pam I reiterate all you have said. Hopefully everyone is alright. Your are wrong in assuming we have a lot of workshops down South, I have my own craft club on a Wednesday morning, then on the last Saturday and Sunday of the month I go to workshops, one is Groovi and the other is cards and stamping, and then twice a year there is an open day near me, that is about it. Although I do look forward to Ally Pally twice a year too (when I can get someone to take me). I wish now I had never stopped driving but it is 20 years now since I drove and have lost my confidence, there are some real maniacs on the roads nowadays.

Got to get my stuff ready for tomorrows craft club, I did the instructions yesterday and sent them out, we are doing a diorama card this week.

Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

What a great card and video today, that's a lovely technique and much quicker than cutting up squares like I've done in the past. It makes a beautiful backdrop for your dies. Thank you for sharing. Love Diane G xxx
Pam echoing tour comments today, don't work too Hardin the garden. Drop hints to those boys how old you are and how much you've done for them over the years add in a bit of bribery about cute baby photoessays that might go on your Facebook page for friends to see and who knows you might get two willing helpers 😀Xxx
June I agree we do get some shows and workshops down south but I find all the good craft shops are up north, I'm secretly planning to drop into the conversation we may be near a couple when we organise a holiday later on in the year! Xxxx

Gorgeous Delft-style card this morning - love how you've done the tile effect with sticky notes, so much easier than cutting little squares then forgetting to allow for the spaces in between as I've done in the past!...will definitely be giving this technique a try - and I've just added the Dandelion Posy to my wish list too, so pretty...

  74. Dear Sue and Paper Artists,

So pretty! And you make it look easy. Random stamping always scares me. It requires inherent artistic ability. But maybe the sheer class of Sumatra would hide how dorky my random stamping is.

Love this one. My first thought when I saw it was Delftware ( as others have said) which I first saw when I went to Holland with the Guides almost 50 years ago! The card is really pretty, love the colours. I think I will have a go at this one. I treated myself to a Stamp Platform when they first came out a few months ago and I have to say, my stamping has certainly improved - no more missed bits of double image! Great for pattern building too. Love and hugs to all, Alison xx
