Christmas Double Day

Hello bloggers!  It's that time again, are you ready for another Christmas double day?  First up is a lovely black and white winter card.  I cut the aperture for the treat cup in a piece of coconut white card.  Next I embossed the piece with the Falling Snow embossing folder.  I cut loads of trees out of white card, using both the Forest Animal die set as well as the Winter trees set from a few years ago.  I glued the smaller trees to the top and back of the card around the treat cup opening.  The larger trees were added to the bottom of the card using foam.  I cut the Deer and baby out of black card as a silhouette.  For the treat cup, I added white micro beads, mixed with some clear micro beads and sealed the cup with acetate glued to the back.  I cut the Here Comes Santa Snow Globe Scene in black and added it to the back of the acetate so it showed through the front of the cup.  I taped it into place and added a white backing card.  The card was completed by adding white and black mats and layers to match.  The finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x  8 1/2" in size.  Scroll down for card number two.

The second card was made using the DCWV Kraft paper pad as my background.  It has a pretty dot and matching stripe pattern done with kraft and gold mirror accents.  I added a white mat between the pieces to break it up a bit.  Next I cut four of the Poinsettia Flourish and Corner die out of gold mirror card and glued them into the corners so they created a frame.  For the focal element, I cut the Scalloped Snowflake frame out of gold mirror and the Art Deco Snowflake out of white card.  I offset them and added them to the centre of the card.  I stamped the sentiment and layered it on top.  Pearls were added as accents and white and gold mats were used to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x  7 1/2" in size.  I hope you have enjoyed your double day!  All for now, Sue x

  1. Beautiful cards Sue, lovely. Love them both, each so different, can't choose a favourite.
I can't believe it's Friday already, my 1st weeks leave has flown over, my working week doesn't go that fast.
Margaret, hope you can get some help with your migraines, they are dreadful things.
Elaine, hooe the meeting went well with the Housing people. Im so sorry that all the trouble upstairs has started again. With all that is going on in your life you need your rest to try to build up strength for your days.. I hope Andrews treatment goes well. How is Mary now.
Crewe Trish, one of my team colleagues has Rheumatoid Arthritis, she has just had her 2nd Infusion. She too can't tolerate hot sun. She loves Disney and her son too, so they have booked Christmas at Eurodisney, her favourite place. She is so excited. You take care, let the family spoil you.
Karen, hope the swelling goes down soon so that you can get the metal strips in place asap. It must have been a very bad break.
Donita, what a great assignment, you will have a fab time, hard work but fun. My first trip to New York many years ago to see my brother, we were taking the ferry to see Liberty, there was a huge food fair down at the waterfront, the sights, smells and tastes of all the food was wonderful, people everywhere having a great time. You will enjoy work this Sautrday I think.
Hugs to all, thinking of all our poorly and missing friends.Beautiful cards Sue, lovely.

  9. Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, gosh you have spoilt us today, two beautiful creations, I love both of them and I did purchase some of the Kraft paper pads (which really are nice) and the pictures do not do them justice. Wonderful, I like both of them equally.

Pam I reiterate all you have said, even if you have said it twice, don't worry these things happen. Yes holidays always seem to fly past don't they, I remember when I was at work it was the same for me.

I didn't get much done yesterday, I just felt drained all day, I must knuckle down today though.

Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

  20. Dear Sue and Happy Crafters,

My favorite Christmas candy -- eye candy! These are delicious. I like the snowy woods best, although I'd leave out the treat cup with Santa. Maybe just a Peace on Earth sentiment. I really like the copper colors and patterns of the other one. Amazed that I don't have a single thing to make either of these.

Sorry Pam that time creeps when you're working and flies when you're not. Glad you have another week. Two more people gave notice, which means weekend duty will come around more frequently for the rest of us. I really don't want to be the last working newspaper reporter. I had ambitions of being the first woman whatever, not the last of a dying breed.

June Smith, you take it easy. The pace you maintain takes my breath away.

Let's all sent good vibes to Elaine's upstairs neighbor so she will bliss out and calm down. Harsh to live below her, but so much worse to be her.

And while we're ordering up cosmic good, less pain and swelling for Karen, more attentive and generous family for Crewe Trish, and freedom from migraines, depression, discomfort and drama for the rest of us.

    Love,
    Donita

  56. Oh WOW ! just how beautiful are these two Christmas cards , i just love the falling snow background {oh i really must get this emboss folder } loving the Kraft papers on your second card and the gold flourish .

Well we had a long day yesterday i dont think we will get much joy from the door situation they say it will cost too much, i did point out that just after Christmas they put in a stair lift that must have cost a great deal and as yet no one has used it .They have offered us a flat in the new end where the door is magnetic, however it is a small flat with one small window and no view .We are in the old white house with two very large windows facing front , i sit every morning having my breakfast watching the little children going to School all looking so smart, then i see them come out of school with shirts hanging out and socks around their ankles satchels dragging behind them on the floor . I love this flat and have fitted it with carpets and shelving etc to make it a lovely comfortable home , so now we have a dilemma as i just cant move into that poky flat .
As for the upstairs problem they are going to have a strong word with her , although no pets are allowed she was given permission to have hers ,it seems some rules can be broken , i said perhaps she should have been offered a ground floor flat { perhaps the one they have offered me in the new area ?} ,,,,, but I am happy to say we had a silent night { Is that a Christmas carol haha. } i just hope the silence continues.

Pam you gave me a right chuckle , yes the weeks go so quickly when you are on Holiday , we are going to see Mary after we have been to Johns Hospital Appointment ,she is doing and looking very well. I echo your superb comments again as you cover everything so well have a lovely day.
    Big hugs to all

Love the contrast between these two cards but both gorgeous - I already have the Winter Trees set and have used them so much and they will be featuring on this year's cards as well so the Woodland set of dies and stamps are top of the wish list...the Kraft/Gold sample is stunning too, love the two complementary snowflakes - wasn't too sure about the Poinsettia corners but seeing them cut out of mirror card has won me over, they look fabulous here and make a very pretty frame.
