Happy Birthday To You

Good morning bloggers and a BIG Happy Birthday to Julia Watts!  I even found a card with a Birthday sentiment for the day!  I started by cutting an aperture out of black card using the Double Pierced Noble Oval die set.  I used one of Phill Martin's sentiments to show through the aperture and stamped it in black on coconut white card.  I decided to add a frame around it so I used the Double Pierced Noble Rectangles and made a multi layered white frame. To add a bright pop of colour, I used the Tropical Hibiscus die set and added flowers of pink and peachy orange with yellow stamens.  I decided to keep them simple, single layered flowers and arranged them around the sentiment.  I found a few matching coloured dots in my stash so I added them as accents around the sentiment. I completed the card with white and black mats and layers.  The finished dimensions are 7" x  8" in size.  All for now, Sue x

  1. Lovely card Sue, just gorgeous.
Hoping so much that the Kid has had his surgery and all has gone well. Carmen will let us know when she has news I'm sure.
CraftySue, not a nice day for you yesterday, long and faithful service doesn't seem to count for anything these days. Hope a new door opens for you soon.
Maria, you sound as if you had a wonderful time, well deserved.
June, hope craft club wasn't too hot for you.
Alimecca, yes it was at Bollyhope. I took the twins shopping yesterday for their Mums birthday gift. They already had a couple of things but wanted some perfume for her. Then we had a MacDonakds. They were quiet but okay, didn't want to be out too long so I didn't push it. Thank you all for your kind thoughts and words. Cheryl, you always have the perfect words to comfort. I'm taking them up to their Dads house tonight, first time I have seen him since the accident. The police are still investigating, so hard for everyone.
Must be getting difficult for them to breathe at Work with their heads still firmly stuck in the sand, still nothing said......
Hope everyone is well, hugs to poorly and missing friends and all on the blog.

  4. Morning Sue. You certainly found a beautiful card to send birthday wishes to Julia, she's very very lucky to have a friend like you in her life but I'm sure she doesn't need to be told that and I know your thoughtfulness would be more than appreciated even if she does get embarrassed lol. If Julia has already popped in I'm sure she will a big smile on her face, well I hope so as it's such a happy vibrant card. I know some crafters don't like using black card, but the first thing you see is the gorgeous pop of colour, that's what dark card does, it helps make bright card brighter, I really love the font and size of the sentiment on Julia's card Sue. All in all a gorgeous happy card for a very lucky lass.
Sending best wishes to Julia and love n hugs your way xxx

  5. Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, a lovely birthday card today, it is also my middle son's birthday today too.

Pam reiterate everything you have said. Ha ha, head in the sand....what are they afraid of.

Had wonderful morning at craft yesterday. Also had a visit from our son and granddaughter over the past 4 days, they went home last night.

Still no news on the part for my pc, nearly 2 weeks now, so annoying.

Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs June Smith xxxx

  44. Hi Sue
Loving todays card , so bright and cheerful .

Well my lovely friends it is just 1 year today since Andrew had his Major surgery ,such a lot of you have been rooting for him from day one and we want to thank you all so much for all your good wishes and prayers { far too many of you to mention by name but you all know who you are } ,i pass all your messages on to him and he always has a chuckle that so many ladies are following his progress , he still has a long way to go but we are hoping for good news when we get his latest scan results ,when we look back over the 12 months, from not being able to lift one foot in front of the other and so many set backs he has done well .
He is feeling a lot better today and is at the Hospital later just to have the tube flushed .

I am off to the Drs later with John as he has the second memory test , i am hoping they will give him some medication as he is getting to be hard work , i seem to be following him around turning taps off , or he will leave the plug in the sink after washing his hands and i am always knocking my head on cupboard doors he leaves open , he just doesn't seem to finish anything off that he starts to do , oh i am turning into a right moaner ,tis no wonder my hair is starting to fall out and go thin haha.

Being as i have said so much i will wish you all a good day and echo our lovely Pam who says it all so well.

Take care and big hugs to all.

  46. Dear Sue and Crafty Persons,

This card makes me think that when I'm at the stamp convention this weekend in West Springfield, Mass., I'm going to rate everything I'm tempted to buy against a chance to order some nobles.

My heart goes out to you, Crafty Sue. I hope you can take some time to process the news and think about what you would like to do next. Sometimes the worst thing that could happen is the best thing that could happen. As in, what you always wanted that seemed out of reach is suddenly possible. But right now I'd be numb, then go into a tailspin for who knows how long.

Pam, my heart goes out to your son-in-law and your grandsons for the sudden loss of his father/their grandfather. I'm glad they have you.

A friend asked how my holiday weekend was and I admitted, rather ashamed, that I spent it coloring with alcohol markers.. She said she loves coloring and calls it mindfulness. So I don't have to be ashamed, just mindful!

    Love,
    Donita

  60. Hello Sue,
What a lovely clean and crisp card. Love the bright flowers but not so keen on the black - then again it really makes everything "pop" and makes the sentiment stand out, so on reflection I think it's perfect!
Pam, sand up the nostrils is not a good look - they'll have to show their heads above the parapet soon! It's good that the twins went shopping with you, and kind of you to take them. I hope the visit to their father goes well, as you say it's so difficult for everyone, such a tragedy.
June H - happy 79th today. Have a lovely birthday whatever you have planned.
Jan on the Fosse, happy birthday to you!
Yvonne, good to see you pop in.
    Laine, thinking of you.
Donita, I've been colouring for the past month thanks to Patricia who has kept me supplied with gorgeous pictures. I'd have gone mad having to rest without her kindness.
Elaine - sorry to read about John. What a worry for you and I do hope that the results of the test are better than you hope. Andrew has done so well, but we are all batting for him, as you know.
Maria, glad you had such a nice birthday - you deserve it.

CraftySue - Sorry about your impending redundancy but we never know what is waiting for us round the corner and quite often it can be much better than what we have. I was made redundant after 30 years and worried that I wouldn't manage but I did ok and I'm sure you will too.
Elaine - fingers crossed for John, it is such a worry as we get older.
Jan on the Fosse & June H - Happy Birthday to both of you, have a lovely day and I am sure Sue won't mind you sharing Julia's card :-)

  86. Afternoon Sue,

A beautiful card for Julia's birthday, I wished for her to have special birthday gifts of love & laughter.

I keep forgetting to use my large noble dies for frames and you keep reminding by posting using them. Thank you xxx

Thank you for your kind words Pam. I have a wonderful book given to me after Pete died by a good friend, called Avalon Dreaming. Rose took me to The Chalice Gardens in Wells where we spent a lovely day of reflection, quiet chats and prayers and she helped me to put my upside down world right again. The book is so lovely to read and sums the whole world in a few simple lines. It gives me the inspiration to hold out my hand to others in a similar situation.

Great news Elaine of Andrew, his fortitude is wonderful to read about.
It must be heart-breaking for you with John's forgetfulness. My mum is going along those lines too but she greets it all with a laugh and a girlish giggle. I went to visit her and Dad yesterday, the first time I have driven to Bristol myself for a while.
Gentle hugs and healing prayers to all in discomfort. May your day become kinder to you.
    Love & hugs

CrafttySuetoo - commiserations on the redundancy (think a lot of us have been there at some time). As Fluffycat and others have suggested, sometime in the future you'll probably be glad, after you've seized another wonderful chance.
All best wishes for The Kid, Carmen.
