You're Special To Me

Good Sunday morning all!   Here's one that will work great for your guy cards if you want!  I started with a piece of silver mirror card and embossed it with the Jacobean Floral embossing folder.  I rubbed Graphite Gilding Polish all over the top of the embossed surface, then buffed it with a piece of kitchen roll to dry and shine it.  Next I very lightly sanded the top of the embossing to give it a more distressed look.  I added a piece of black card with just a thin bit showing on the edges and a slightly thicker mat behind that using the silver mirror card.  For the focal element, I cut the Tahiti die in black and backed it with white.  I cut the next section of the die in silver mirror card and added a white backing to it and stacked it in the centre of the die.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with the smallest hexagon and added a slightly larger black mat before seating it in the centre of the die.  I cut the Stitched Flags in varying sizes using both white and black card.  I cut them in half and arranged them so they showed from either edge of the Tahiti die cut.  I added flatback pearls and completed the card with white, black and silver mats and layers.  The finished dimensions are 6" x  9 1/2" in size.

  1. Beautiful card Sue, lovely.
Congrats to comment game winners. Yay Donita.
P, poor little Saffron, her time came too early but she was so lucky she found you and the love she deserved. You are definitely an angel.
Elaine, I hope that Andrew us feeling much better now and that they continue to give him the pill with his treatment. Hope Heken and yourself are on the mend too.
Sam have a lovely you know what, wherever it may be. Have a great time.
Lynne, hope you are feeling a little better, it sounded really painful.
Saba, that big glass of the white stuff, the glass wasn't one of those huge decorative wine glasses that are for decoration was it. Anyway you deserve it after all the discomfort over the last few days. Oh by the way your bird flew over my house, my car and front door were covered in it, ugh.
June, what can I say, you astound me with your organisational skills. I'm so impressed.
I googled Scottish tablet and I think the texture us the sane as the dough candy tablet that I loved as a child, must try that one, yum yum.
Take care all, hugs to all especially our poorly and missing friends.
Maureen, hope the physio goes well, we need you back to normal, if just fir poor Georges sake. Take care lovely.

  11. Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, a lovely card today, I must say that I struggle some times with the polish because I don't get it even or I am too heavy handed, I will have to practice more in order to create something like this.

Pam I reiterate everything you have said. How is your chest infection doing, is it getting any better with the meds.

I have got 100's of dies that I have never used, or might have used just once or twice i.e. spellbinders, memory box, tattered lace, so looks like a mega sale coming up, gosh that is going to take me hours. I am not selling on here Sue so don't worry. On a brighter note it has freed up some more space in my craft room so I might be able to take some of the stuff off the floor and put in the cupboards................am I alone in this or does anyone else have the same problem.

    Congratulations to all the winners.

Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

  15. Hi Sue. The background alone is powerfully stunning I could look at that all day. I agree with your statement about it being a great guy card, but the sentiment is making its way back to you this bright sunny morning. It's such a 'plain' looking card (meant in a lovely way) plain isn't the word but I can't think how to explain what I mean, it's not a wow Sue card with flowers ribbons and stick pins, but it's a ooohh masculine testosterone filled powerful beautiful sample if you see what I'm trying to say !!? I'm leaving it there I'm just making myself sound stupid, hopefully someone will get the same wow feeling I have and understand where I'm coming from ! Many congratulations to the comment winners today all daily regular lovers of this gorgeous blog ☺

What a gorgeous card today, the background is amazing. You don't often use mirror card so I was quite suprised when you said you had used it but putting the polish on it really tones it down doesn't it. I must give this a go. I also think this folder is a favourite of yours, but I don't blame you, it's so useful. Thank you for sharing.

June you made me laugh, I thought all craft rooms only had a square foot of clear space on the floor, enough to put a chair and your feet and perhaps a passageway to the door! We had to clear the room the other day so the gas man could service the boiler that's in there and it's actually quite a good size room! Xxxxx

  41. Yes, I too have lots of craft things on the floor!! But now use clear storage containers and drawers, so I can see what's in them!!

Oh yes the card is fabulous but what a shock I got seeing my name up there. Wow, oh wow, oh wow! It was like electricity ran through me.

Yes, at last I'll know what the winners get. But what if the rule is that you can't tell?

It's so funny how we say congratulations to the winners, and some people even say "well done," like we did anything! If you hadn't posted when you did, our names wouldn't have landed in the spot to be picked, so thank you for posting when you did. And I'll do my part so you get picked.

About today's card. Do you think a guy would think the embossing folder was a little girly-swirly? It sure looks good to me, though.

You guys have made me so happy today. Especially you, Sue.

I am married with 2 grown up children . Would love to hear from anyone who has 5 minutes to spare have a lovely weekend all . Congratulations to winners. Thank you for another card great for those men in my life. Masculine cards are always a challenge for me. I like how you sanded the embossed area after gilding. Your card ideas are always so terrific. I think your card designs are on a step above most designer's cards because you go that step or two or three or four above other designers. And I love that you do!

  99. Hello Sue,
Love today's card. It's elegant and striking.
Pam, hope you are improving and the meds are working their magic. I also hope you get good news from work soon. George is complaining of hard work, I've told him not to moan and get on with it ha ha. Physio comes on Tuesday, oh we'll have a grand time!!!!
June, floor - what floor? I have a swing rope tied to the light fitting and do a Tarzan like swing to get to my chair ha ha.
Donita, what can I say - congratulations, shh you can tell me what you get, I won't say a word lol.
Congratulations also to Nanny Jo and Jan.
Elaine, it's good that Andrew and Helen are improving, it will be a load of your mind.
Myra, you know that Littlelamb doesn't encourage us to buy things - much!!!
PP and Laine - where are you, we miss your inanities, although we enjoy them very much ha ha.
Pat L, you really should feel sorry for the physio - he doesn't know what's ahead of him!!!
'P' I meant to say that I was sorry to read about Saffron,
Rosemary, I'm so sorry to read your post and hope that Dylan's op is a success tomorrow. We all support each other here on Sue's blog.
love to all that are lonely, in pain, their carers and George for being a brick (oblong and red ha ha)!

ROSEMARY good luck with Dylan tomorrow, you cant help but worry. My 14 yr old Bichon got all his teeth out about six months ago and I was worried sick but it had to be done. He is now jumping about like a dog half his age!!!!!

  106. Hello Sue,
I love the look you have achieved with the Jacobean embossing folder and gilding wax, something I definitely to give a whirl. The Tahiti die is one of my absolute favourite dies so this card is a delight to see. To my mind it's perfect for both male and female recipients. Thank you.

Congratulations to the lucky lucky comment prize winners, bet you are super excited.
Donita hope you've got over the shock, hopefully your hair isn't standing on end!
Oh Pam, so sorry my bird found its way to you, I didn't tell it where you lived, honestly. The only problem with the big glass I used yesterday was the little China mouse stuck to the bottom! My mum had one of those years ago!!
June, it's the curse of crafters, we live in a world of total crafting chaos, I vaguely remember once being a tidy person.
"P" have another hug, I think you are probably still feeling sad.
Rosemary I hope all goes well for Dylan, hope you get some companionship by being one of Sue's Wilsonettes.
Elaine it's good to hear things are a little better today.
Laine and PP, missing you heaps.
Oh Maureen you do make me laugh, heaven help poor George.
I'm leaving my cottage tomorrow, sad to go, I could stay here forever, but excited to be seeing my youngest grandson for a few days before heading back to Germany. I have some crafting shopping to do first though!
    Love and hugs for all

  108. Hi Sue,

The card is beautiful.(Is it for a guy?I don’t know ... maybe without the embossing background and the pearls).I love the simplicity and elegance of the design. I love the Jacobean Floral embossing folder and the dies that you used. Thank you for the inspiration.

    Congratulations to the winners!

Donita – You won’t believe it, but I had a feeling you will be one of today’s winners! That why I wasn’t surprised at all to see your name. I am happy one of Wilsonettes across the pond won one of Sue’s beautiful cards. Hope you’ll let us know what card you received. Till then enjoy your vacation!

    Hugs,

  109. Good morning Sue and all the other Wilsonettes. I start all my days on the PC and your blog is my first port of call. I haven't yet tried the gilding paste but will do so very soon. Being housebound I have to purchase on line so could do with a little advice on what to buy first . Today's card is a stunner Sue. Thank you for sharing.
