Fabulous Day

Hi bloggers!  A black and white square card for you today.  I selected a piece of black and white polka dot paper from my stash.  Next I cut four of the Pacific Ocean Borders in black card.  I cut four matching solid backings out of white card covered with sticky adhesive sheets.   I peeled the backing paper off and attached the decorative borders then coated the remaining exposed adhesive with Diamond Sprinkles.  I did this to all four borders then added mounting foam to the backs of them.  I arranged the borders around the edge of the decorative paper, overlapping the ends in the corners.  Next I cut two of the Molly die in white and used spray glue on them then coated them with Diamond Sprinkles as well.  I crisscrossed them and added them to the centre of the card in an "X" formation.  I stamped my sentiment and covered it with a sticky adhesive sheet.  I cut the centre decorative die from the Fiji die in black and added a white backing, then cut the centre out to create a frame.  I seated the frame with mounting foam over the sentiment after peeling off the backing paper.  I added Diamond Sprinkles to it to cover the exposed adhesive and glued it in the centre of the card.  Black and white mats and layers were added to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x  7 1/2" in size.  All for now, Sue x

June hope your Visit to docs went well.
Norah, you did have a hectic day, you need to slow down. Sorry about the new diagnosis, but you always cheer me with your positive attitude.
Saba, hope you soon have all your home comforts in the cottage.
Elaine, hope Andrew got to see someone yesterday to answer his questions. Are you going to do wheelies with this new aid.
Rosemarie I will email you tonight
The meeting was a bit stressful, they start by saying they don't expect you to work if you are ill then go onto cutting down the time staff are off, the intention is to get you into work. I had to go over it all again, the meds I am on. I will get the decision in about a week as my manager us on leave till Wed. My union rep made some suggestions and is hopeful that they will agree. What a horrible horrible process, no wonder my friend Barbara resigned at Christmas.
Hugs to all, especially our poorly and missing friends, all carers and long suffering hubbies.

    1. Hi Pam I know exactly what it is like to go through one of those Interviews. I went through a few with a supermarket I worked for. My spine is wearing away top and bottom. I had letters from my consultant. and they still made me lift heavy bags of coin. I was so bullied I had to leave. It is disgusting how people who are genuinely I'll are treated by their employed. I wish you all the best and am thinking of you and all who are I'll xx

  9. Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, oh yes a very pretty card today, I love it, could easily be adapted for a man's card too.

Pam, I do hope that you are OK, what a terrible experience for you at work, how can people be so insensitive, uncaring, I know this was very stressful for you and it is something that you can do without. These people who do these things have to realise that at the end of the day it is your working life they are dealing with and what goes around comes around, know one should ever be harassed like this, we never know what is round the corner for us. Chin up my darling, you know we all love and support you, wish I could be with you to give you a great big hug.

Well drs. went well yesterday, have been referred to all the relevant people relating to diabetics, goodness knows how long the appointments etc. will take to come through but at least I am in the system and the ball is rolling.

I reiterate everything that Pam has said above and send lots of hugs to those who need them, you are always in our thoughts.

Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

  56. Happy Friday, Friends,

Such a striking design! Without access to double-sided sticky paper, I wonder if it would still be pretty nice without the diamonds. That Pacific Ocean border really is an architectural wonder, isn't it?

Only one more day of work before my vacation. I'm so looking forward to staying home and getting things done, especially making cards.

Pam, it's funny that you have to wait on a decision about your absences because one of the managers is absent. Can't they just appreciate you when they have you?

    Enjoy your weekend, everybody!

  61. Hi Sue, on first viewing this card did not grab me in the way that your cards usually do but I have looked at it now for a while and it is slowly growing on me. As Jess has said, 'love the design of today's card, not too sure about the black'.

Pam - I'm sorry your meeting was so stressful and sincerely hope that their decisions are in your favour. Now that everyone has targets to meet it seems that the human element has gone out of management. I know these are difficult economic times but surely any decent employer should still value good employees. Try not to worry over this next week because we are all rooting for you.
Donita - enjoy your holiday at home, it is good sometimes just to be able to relax and do the things you want to when you want to.

  88. Good afternoon Sue and the wilsonettes,
I really like this card flower as it looks fun but a bit stylish that it could be for quite a lot of various occasions. I do like the black and white monochrome colour story for todays little piece of pleasure. I like the frame that has been created with the use of the borders and corners and how it can give such a varying look. Thank you flower for such a lovely piece of happiness and day brightening WOW.
Oh Pam, my lovely friend, it sounds as if you are up against the same type of C.S. that i had and they are less than civil. They have more faces than the toon hall clock. Funny enough i sort of knew the last day i was in at work before the said anything that i wouldn't be back in the building and i wasn't. I hope that you have a better union rep than i did flower and please, please they are not worth you getting yourself into a state, that is just what they want you to be. They make all these platitudes when in actual fact they are only paying lip service which just makes it feel worse because it's coming from people that you used to consider work mates or even friends. I'm thinking of you flower and have everything i possibly can crossed for you that you are better thought about than what it looks like. It's a pity that they didn't take these ways of dealing with the sods that are at it and not hard working people that just wouldn't be off if they could do anything about it.
Oh Elaine, poor Andrew he has been through so much and i keep hoping that he is through the worse and that things can only get better for him. Sending hugs to him and you flower. Having a back that does a Helen on a regular basis i can feel so for her because unfortunately it takes it's own sweet time to sort it's self out. Thank goodness for heat bags and tens machines.
We have had such a lovely day up here, where everything is so clear and clean, fresh and bright. When you get your washing in from the ropes on days like this it's so totally different and you can smell that fresh air that only from it blowing in the breeze gives it. I suppose that living out in the country it's not getting the smog or fumes the same that it would in a city which will be why there is so many laundrettes down south and the nearer London you get, the less chance you have of enjoying such simple things and pleasures like this. I hope that where ever you are today you are having a lovely day and that someone has smiled at you and made your day. Sending hugs to all my lovely Wilsonettes that need, could do with or just want one, they are yours for the taking. I hope that some that need that break to be better has a better day coming,
    love and crafty hugs

What a stunning card, it's got everything I love, monochrome black and white, a lovely background, gorgeous dies a bit of bling and a fabulous design. Can't ask for more. Thank you Sue.

Pam, I hope your manager has to explain why he wasn't there and on leave instead, we're all rooting for you. I'm going to jump on your coat tails tonight, you summed up everything beautifully as usual.
I'll confirm it, Patricia's tablet is to die for, I know you love it too Sue having tasted it a few years ago.
Elaine you are always in my thoughts and prayers.
Sorry to be brief again tonight, I've spent the last couple of days getting our cottage habitable again. It's now sparkling clean and comfortable. I'm shattered and am heading off to bed.
    Love and hugs for all

  101. Hello Sue,
Today's card is lovely! You are such a clever lady! I'm really trying to look at Dies differently but I'll never have your imagination no matter how hard I try! That's why this blog is so wonderful! We get your ideas and that makes us think ! Thank you!
Saba - there was absolutely no need for a rendering of Handel's Hallelujah Chorus yesterday! You made me laugh though!
I'm glad you've been working hard today! It builds character you know - muscles as well!!!
Norah - what a day! I'm so pleased you went though! Be in touch very soon!
I'm really tired tonight and am about to turn in! Please don't ask - to what?
Pam - what a day you had too! You deserve so much more . Sending you a hug and many thanks! We appreciate you here!
    Love Myra xxxx

  102. A super card I love square cards and make a lot of this shape It may be large letter size but so so worth the extra it'd cost to post it It's gorgeous

  103. Hi Sue. This wouldn't normally be the style of card I would think to make, but this is absolutely fab. I must think more about square cards in the future.

  111. Hi Sue,

Beautiful card! The black and white is a timeless duo. This combination is incredible versatile, easy to use, and effective as anything! Your card Sue, proves all the above. If you read the steps without seeing the card, is hard to believe that a card with 3 different types of dies plus a white polka dot paper as a background will be anything like the picture. BUT ... the dies complement each other so well. You managed to amaze us again. Thank you so much for your talent and creative mind and for sharing with us this beauty.
BTW I can't see any Diamond Sprinkles on anything other than the center of the card ... still beautiful.

Pam – It’s good you have a union. Hopefully the rep will be able to help you this time and together will win this battle, but ... to win the war is a long way when you have a manager like this. Good luck!
    Marg – Enjoy your prize!
Elaine – I was hoping for better news. Difficult days for you all. Sending my hugs to your way.
    Donita – Enjoy your vacation!
Maureen – Now we know why you are so nice with Patricia.
    Margret – You too?
Saba –Time to relax! Enjoy your comfortable cottage.
Myra – Why are you tired? Did you help your friend Saba? :)
PP – What did you do to Laine? :)
Laine – I hope you're just tired and you'll be back soon where you belong.
