You're Delightful

Good Sunday morning all!  Today's creation is a milk, mocha and antique gold card (good guy colours!).  They are quite the unusual colour combo for me, but you just have to try a few different things sometimes!  I will say that it is actually quite pretty in real life, but my pics have not truly captured the colour it is.  I started by cutting four of the Swiss Borders out of milk card.  I glued them to the edge of a piece of Mocha card.  I used the matching corners and cut them in milk and matted them with milk backings and added them to the corners with mounting foam.  Next I cut a piece of milk card for the centre and added a thin gold mat and cut a Gillian die out of gold, cut it in half and added it to the sides underneath the matting.  I attached this piece to the centre with mounting foam to raise it.  I cut the Zurich die in Mocha card and glued it down, then added a milk cut Gillian with gold backing on top of it.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with the centre of the Gillian die and added it with a thin mocha mat and added a gold paint pen edge to it.  Milk, Mocha and Antique Gold mats were added to finish the card.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x  9" in size.

The winners of this week's Comment Game are:

  1. Really lovely card Sue, so gorgeous. It's very opulent.
    Congratulations to comment game winners.
Sounds anither wet and windy day. Like Cheryl I too spent the day crafting yesterday,, very peaceful.
June, your husband is priceless, what a lovely gesture with the computer, now I know he will say yes to Ally Pally. The computer sounds fab.
Maria, poor you, your eyes sound really sore, please be careful with them. I know it can strike at any age as one of my teammates had it last year and she looked like she had gone ten rounds with Mike Tyson. She had to stay off work for a week it was so bad.
Helen, you bad girl, you will cause more damage if you overdo it, please be careful, you have come this far but I know it's frustrating.
Elaine, I once deadheaded a geranium that my husband had been given by an old lady, to strengthen it and he thought I had killed it, he was no gardener. Love to Andrew, fingers crossed for tomorrow.
Carmen, I hope you get to see your family soon, what a joyous occasion that will be. I miss my brother George who is in the USA very much, there is only 1 year between us and we were always taken as twins when we were children, the only two red heads in the family, mum dad and the others had dark hair.
Patricia, hope you and Hazel have a good time with Norah, give her my love and best wishes, hope she really is feeling much better, I miss her lovely stories.
Hugs to all, especially our poorly and missing friends, such a lot at the moment, hope you are all well.

  3. Sunday smiles coming your way Sue as is the sentiment. Now this is intricate, the detail of every die is bought to life with every shade you've used today. I know exactly what you mean about photography and our work, some photos work and some just don't do the card justice, but it has to be said, every piece of work you show will be wonderful in real life even if you're not happy with the stills. Congratulations to our winners today what a lovely start to your day - enjoy x
Sending my usual hugs Sue. Have a lovely day xxx

  7. Hi Sue and fellow followers,

What jumped out at me was the Swiss border. I ordered it Saturday, and seeing it just now confirmed that I really wanted it. What is the rule of thumb -- that papercrafting should amount to about one day's pay per week? Oops, might have gone a bit over.

Make sure you get some peace and beauty today.

    Love,
    Donita

I am off to a craft workshop today and so have got to get lots of things ready, catch you all tomorrow.

All well said, Pam, so echoing again.
Well done to the three comment winners.
Hope you don't mind, Sue, but making a plea for more comments to be made, saw that yesterday's only had 98 - never known to dip below 100 in all the time I've been following. There used regularly to be around the 200 and of course far more at giveaway times. Please everyone who looks in but doesn't leave a message, would hate to think that this blog would ever be put at risk and we are all aware just how much much the support means to Sue - as she has so movingly said more than once.
That said, enjoy your day and hugs to all.

First of all I'm sorry I didn't comment yesterday but I have two grandchildren with birthdays this weekend and they were all here yesterday and by the time they'd gone I needed an early night! We had a lovely day though and lots of fun.
I loved yesterday's card and watched the video too. I received the Die set either Thursday / Friday but haven't played with it yet! It's the little details you think of that makes the card or 3D basket made so special. Like the little tab at the handle and the space to insert a gift card if needed! Love the choccie bunnies! May I have the dark ones? Lol
Congratulations to my good friend Saba on winning yesterday! She is excited ! Lol
Congratulations to today's winners too. I hope you enjoy using your prizes and that you are excited too!
Today's card Sue, isn't one of my favourites but I that doesn't stop me admiring it and all the work which has gone into it. Like the colours very much.

I have to say opulence abounds with your card today from the design to the colors. It really does show your dies off well. I too find that some photographs just don't show off a card to it's best advantage, I imagine there is some secret to this but I just haven't found it yet.
Congratulations to all the lucky card winners.

    Have a nice day Sue.

  107. Good evening lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

Today's card has caused a bit of a stir on the blog with some feeling that it is too fussy...personally, i think its difficult to judge it without seeing it in the flesh, so often the computer screen doesn't do the colour or design justice and i have a feeling that this may be one of those occasions...when i had the pleasure of seeing a large number of your samples at Ally Pally i was amazed at how the blog pictures didn't do them justice, they were amazing! It is a rare day when i cant find anything i like or could use from one of your cards, i just appreciate all the hard work and dedication you put in to your designs, boy it must be so difficult thinking of something fresh and original on a daily basis, i certainly know that i am not up for the job:-) Where can you find a cute chocolate bunny basket one day and an opulent explosion the next? Only here!
I have read P's comment and feel terribly guilty that i havent been as regular on the blog lately as i have been in the past....and so i should because Sue doesn't take a day off because she's sick or feels a bit down so neither should I. The first thing i do every morning after my breakfast is check out the card for today and comments on this blog, i usually don't have the time to comment...given the length of my comments you can appreciate the time issue:-)....choosing to do so later on in the day when my brain cells have sufficiently roused from their slumber. However, this can pose a problem when i am either too tired from the days activities or rudely interrupted by nuisance phone calls...yes, i mean you Yvonne:-)....then i end up missing the day altogether. I agree that it doesn't take long to comment, unless you are like me and tend to waffle on then finding the time to read all the comments AND create a lengthy response becomes an issue. It takes me on average a good hour to read all the comments and type my own, ridiculous i know, but true! So, rather than missing a day because I'm pushed for time, i promise to do my bit and comment, however briefly, just to let Sue know that I am actually bothering to visit and really do appreciate her hard work. Its so sad, as P pointed out, that the comments have dropped because i know that Sue cares so much about the blog, i hope that missing members and new members join us soon....
Thanks for all the well wishes and enquiries about Yvonne, i had the "pleasure" of speaking with her on Friday when she told me that she has been plagued by an ear infection and basically bedridden, on her back....a position she is well used to....for the past week unable to raise her head through dizziness. She is on the mend and will hopefully be back with us soon and thanks you all for caring...yes, i pretended that we'd actually noticed her absence figuring that she was on a low ebb:-)
Elaine, happy birthday, hope you enjoyed your meal out with your friend.
Jess, happy anniversary, hope you enjoyed your meal out too.
June, so jealous of you going to a craft workshop, wish i had one close by:-) I hope that you enjoyed yourself and manage to persuade hubby to chauffeur you to Ally Pally.
Carmen, do i need a lawyer present? Why do i feel like ive done something wrong? And there was me going to welcome you with open arms to Ally Pally in September....rather hasty of me it seems! I was even going to let you have a shot in my wheelchair being pushed by a topless young man(Yvonne's son George), however if you're going to read me my rights.......:-)
Maria, aww, you poor soul, i do hope the eyes clear up soon and that the calcification on your shoulder can be helped....my Mum had it and it was so very painful:-( Take care honey.
Hugs to all my besties, especially Saba who so deserved her win yesterday:-)
Congrats to today's lucky winners too.

    Crafty hugs

  110. Hello Sue,
A very opulent and intricate card today, I love the milk, mocha and gold combination, it's so soft looking. The Gillian die makes a beautiful focal point. It's one of those cards that draws your eyes in to all the details you have put into it. I couldn't stop looking at it and I think it would wow any recipient.

  114. Hi Sue,

Nice card, very ornate maybe a little bit too busy for me. But I love all dies you used and I wish to have them all. Thank you for sharing.

    Congratulations to the lucky winners.

Pam – I am a red head, too ...when I dye my hair.
Elaine – Happy b-day! Good luck to Andrew for tomorrow. My daily hugs for all of you.
    Jess W. – Happy Anniversary!
Barbara M.- Wish you luck in the next draw!
Laine – First of all, thank you for the update on Yvonne. She is really missed here. BTW you couldn’t notice her absence because you weren't present either.:)
I intended to add “for another day” but I decided not to be so generous ... Happy to see that my words had had the desired effect ... you pleaded guilty!Actually you “feel terribly guilty that” you”haven’t been as regular on the blog lately”. You are forgiven. Welcome back! Poor George, does he know what do you plan for him? I’ll bring a t-shirt for him, September might be chilly.

Cheryl & Theresa W. – Thinking about both of you.I found this on the net and wanted to share with you and everybody who has time to read it: “Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near; still loved, still missed and very dear.”

‘P’ in Wales, Frances, Saba – Well said. I agree 100% with everything. Sue gives us so much: beautiful cards, lots of ideas, great tutorials, you name it. Out of respect for Sue’s work all you have to is to leave a comment. I love long comments but I read the short ones as well. Sue needs our support and we need this blog!

In this note, hugs for all of you,

  115. Gorgeous card, really opulent. Love the colour combination. I'm the oddball who doesn't do black on cards but I love the gentler brown shades especially with gold.
Congratulations to the comment game winners.
Elaine, hope you enjoyed your birthday lunch. Hope all goes well for Andrew.
Jess Watson, hope you enjoyed your Anniversary meal.
Gentle thoughts to Cheryl and Theresa W.
    Take care everyone.

  117. Very intricate and opulent card today Sue, but then it's more than a card- it's a piece of artwork. Loving the colour combination. Not one to send to a man, though, methinks. LOL!! How do you think up original designs on a daily basis?? However it is you do it, thanks for all the inspiration, videos and demos.

  118. Hi Sue

Gosh this looks rich and intricate. It would be good for a man despite it being fussy. A good friend of mine said we should not assume men don't like fancy things and I have taken that on board when I make cards for men.

    Warmest regards

    Jan from NSW (Australia)
