A Friend Like You

Hello there my crafty friends!  Silver and milk card for today's offering.  I like this combo as the milk card gives it just a bit of a soft vintage feel.  I started by double cutting the Seychelles decorative die horizontally into a piece of milk card.  The dies slightly over lap in the centre but that part will be covered so not to worry.  I backed it with silver card to show through the decorative cut out areas.  Next I cut the edger from the Blossom Edger set in silver and backed it with milk card.  It did need to be extended on both of them, but it lines up quite easily to do this.  I glued these to the top and bottom edge of the card.  Next I cut another Seychelles die out of milk card, backed it with silver then cut the inside out to create a frame.  I stamped my sentiment and embossed it in silver then covered it with a sticky adhesive sheet. I peeled the backing off then attached the frame over it before sprinkling Diamond Snow on the exposed adhesive.  I mounting this piece vertically in the centre of the card.  I created three flowers using the Exquisite Poppies die set, edged them with a silver paint pen then attached the around the sentiment.  I accented the larger flower with cream tulle and Olive Branches.  Milk and silver mats and layers were added to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x  7 3/4" in size.  All for now, Sue x

  1. Happy Friday to all. Beautiful card Sue, just gorgeous.
Elaine, I'm hope Andrews treatment can go ahead soon, this delay must be such a burden but it is fior his health and wellbeing. So glad you have good doctors looking after him. You story was so heartbreaking but I think it is wonderful to preserve them for the future generations.
    And it wasn't too long.
P, so sad to hear you lost Harry. You and he put up a good fight but he us out of pain now and he carries your love with him.
Maria hope the problem with your eyes clears up soon, have you had them checked.
Carmen, love your motto on life, smiles cost nothing and can mean so much, you never know how other people are coping really.
June, have you worked your magic yet, he us teasing you.
Laine, I need you to come and dirt my dies out, your fetish will be over fed then.
Hugs to all, especially our poorly and missing friends, Norah, Tina and NannaTina, Wheeley, Maureen.

  4. Morning Sue. This is a gorgeous card. Have never tried milk and silver card together as i was always told to put cream and gold or silver and white together but the milk and silver gives it a warm look to it. Lovely flowers. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

  5. What a stunning way to end the week. The last two photos show the true colour mix you chose, again the first couple looked custard and silver, either colour way shows the beauty of your design and dies used. It's a really beautiful SW work of art. As for the sentiment - it comes back to you Sue just for being you xx
Sending our two out for the night so they can have mummy & daddy time alone, so as I'm staying over I shall be later popping in tomorrow but nothing will keep me away from this beautiful craft heaven.
Hope your day is a good one Sue. Sending friendly hugs your way xxx

  6. A beautifully elegant card, Sue, love it all (especially poppies!)
Have read all the family stories and been moved by many, such different times and hard to imagine how everyone coped. Think we generally have it so easy now.
Echoing Pam again - and thanks to all for lovely Harry messages, such a special boy.
Just the Dude to have tooth op next week and old Molly in for a dematt as she doesn't groom any more and hates being brushed. Then hopefully that will be it for a while.
No more of Sue's dies at the moment, just vet's bills!!
Have a good weekend everyone. sending hugs. Keep safe, Donita and Carmen.

  8. Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, what a beauty you have created for us today, antique and silver, what a brilliant combination, the dies really do bring this to life and the silver round the petals make the flowers pop, love it. Sue, I watched John's show last night, he did you proud with all the dies and other products on the show, looking forward to seeing todays offerings.

Pam still working at it, but I think he might be weakening!!!

Elaine, pleased that Andrews treatment can continue, it has been a very hard road but nearly there. Interesting reading your story and can relate to it so easily, just goes to show what desperation can do, at least the family did not starve on that day. Wonderful idea to write it all down for generations to come.

I also reiterate everything that Pam has said.

Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

  23. Dear Sue and everyone getting to the weekend,

    So lovely!

Sophisticated and elegant. Reminds me of a lamp brand that used to advertise in the New Yorker. The ads were cartoon drawings like the New Yorker scatters through the magazine. In one, a husband is saying to his wife: "What do you mean, the lamp is the only thing in your life that feels like it has the proper proportions?"
Somehow, your cards always look just right, like they were inevitable. Mine often look a bit off and I usually can't figure out why.
On the way to work Thursday after mailing the St. Patrick's Day card, I realized that shamrocks have three hearts and four-leaf clovers have four. Oh, well, her card got lucky four-leaf clovers rather than St. Patrick shamrocks..

    Enjoy the weekend!

  41. Hi Sue,

A truly elegant card and I really like the milk and silver combo - silver and white can sometimes look too cold for my tastes so this is perfect and I also love the way your die designing is evolving and that you're giving us separate outline cutting edges, it means we can do so much more with the decorative inserts...

Donita - I'm sure your friend will appreciate your St. Pat's card even if you did mix up your shamrocks with your clover!...lol

  50. Hi Sue,

Oh my, a fantastically understated, yet marvellous creation to feast my eyes upon this sunny Somerset morning. Silver and milk? I would not have put those two together for a colour combo but I can see they work so well.
Note to self, be more adventurous with colours.

Elaine, so lovely to read part of your history too, stealing the bread was an act of desperation so you didn't starve. Our younger generations have so much, they wouldn't understand how hard it was for our past generations to survive.
Andrew must so relieved to have his further treatments. He and Helen have had so much to deal and come with, I admire them so much. ((((HUGS)))) for them and for you too.

Comfort blanket hugs to all. I hope your day becomes kinder to you.
