Monochrome Leaves

Hi crafters!  Today's video card showcases the Swirly Leaf Trio and shows a lovely way to create a monochrome card suitable for any occasion or gender.  I hope you like it.

The finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x  7 1/4" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Tina, so sad that Peter is so poorly, I hope he is pain free and that you have plenty of support at home, you know you have my support here. Gentle caring hugs for Peter and yourself.
Yvonne, good to hear you have arrived in NE safely, thanks to Laine for updating us. I hope Mum and Dad continue to improve.
Elaine, it will be a good job when Andrew gets sorted, both with his chemo and his lung problem, hugs to you both.

  5. Fabulous card. I didn't think I'd need the leaf dies as I've had some leaves I've used for years but really wish I'd got them now. Mine just don't work the same so I'll have to see if I can still get them. I had the weaving dies in my basket at my usual supplier last night but they sold out before I got to checkout. The only other place I found stock were double the price so still looking.

Hugs to all who are suffering and in need. Crafty hugs to all.

    Happy crafting.

  6. Good morning Sue and crafters all,
WOW what a stunner. Love the monochrome of today's card, and the glittering border looks just like frost.
Pam, so lovely all of your comments and you have become that 'friend' I have never met.
Which I very much appreciate at this moment.
Peter is sleeping at present, has a very noisy chest. Needed nurses out in the night. The one good thing is he has continuous pain relief now.
To June Smith - what was in your goodie bag? Hope the physio has helped.
Elaine and Andrew, Nanna Tina, Dragonsnap, PP , Laine, Theresa, Vera, and all of you ladies that I have missed, I appreciate your love and hugs. Been a long night.
Love and crafty hugs to all

  7. Very pretty, though I'm not sure about the new glitter - I do prefer fine silky glitters myself. Having said that I know I'm in a minority and I am sure lots of other people will love it.

  30. Hello to all the Sues and Wilsonettes,

That glitter is so delicious!!! Yes, it does look frosty, and the swirls on the leaves look like frost tracings too. And I thought leaves were just for fall.

Thanks June for explaining the treat cups and everyone who made me feel better by saying they, too, didn't know.

Speaking of striped nasturtiums, THANK YOU, Sue for giving us the flowers and the stripes in the same affordable set. I know that means we have to cut just a few flowers a lot of times, but the affordability really helps. I did them in red and white on my Christmas cards and they made a big impression, apparently, even though they were a finishing touch and not the main element. And even though they weren't poinsettias!! I also did them in Navy and white for a wedding card for two guys.

My heart goes out to you Tina T.

  32. Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, such a pretty card, I will check out the video later as it will give me something to look forward too. January is a very busy month for me with cards for friends and family so I need to get cracking.

Tina T, thinking of you and Peter, special hugs.

Another Tip: I recycle all my A4 packets when I purchase anything and use them to store my cardstock in. When I have finished cutting out my card I then put all the offcuts back into the packet, this means that when I next want a small piece of the same card it is there.

Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

  108. Good evening lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

Ooh i love video days, they are full of new ideas and interesting tips & techniques! Today's example is no exception. I must admit to not being immediately grabbed by the Trio of Leaves die, i rather presumptuously assumed that i would struggle to create a varied amount of card designs with them, little did i know that our Sue would manage to change my mind with her imaginative use of these dies. There is a number of things that appeal to me about this cards composition, firstly, milk and black are my all time favourite colour combination, secondly, i love vellum and the way that you have utilised it on this card is ingenious....the leafy swirls behind the vellum leaves are outstanding against the black background....and thirdly, the new glittery chunky flakes are gorgeous and so eye catching...am i the only one who is reminded of fish scales? Anyway, what can i say that will accurately convey my admiration of this card and of you dear, sweet Sue? I am at a loss, so i will gaze on in stupefied silence:-)
Well ladies, I've had yet another unremarkable day spent doing not nearly enough housework...yes, that dusting has been tactfully ignored in favour of a bit of hoovering....I'm really struggling with my energy levels at the moment, I don't know if it's just that time of year when we all run on an empty engine, or more than likely I'm simply just a lazy cow:-) I could really do with a break away in the sunshine, however that's never going to happen just as long as I've got a severe addiction to shopping for clothes and Sues dies....it's about time i invested in a sugar daddy but my time is running out, I'll be 45 in May and finding someone old enough to be my daddy is becoming a very real problem!
I havent heard from our Yvonne yet today, all i know is that she was having an easy day at home cooking for her Dad and will be visiting her Mum tomorrow, her sister goes home tonight so she will be in charge from now on i guess....God help them all! Well, at least she's a decent cook:-)
Maureen, a rubber mallet sounds just fine, just be sure to completely disable her from the waist down because she's got a mean kick which i learned to my own regret! :-) As for getting her wet, i should have realised that the North in January is rather temperamental, lets just hope she stays fully clothed this time and her skin doesn't get wet, good tip is to take a large brolly or ideally stay indoors:-)
Tina, it sounds like you have such a lot on your plate at the moment, make sure that you get enough rest too. Glad to hear that Peters pain is under control now though, hopefully his appetite will now increase. Sending love and hugsxxx
P and Myra, i think we should have a Pam Appreciation Society, she deserves for her valuable contribution to be officially recognised:-)
June, how is your knee, are you finding the physio has helped and are you still using a stick? Hugsxxx
Tracy, how are you coping with working full time now that the Sales are upon us? Any visits to Craftworld lately......?xxx
Nana tina and Wheely, thinking of you bothxxx
Elaine, thinking of Andrew and especially Helen today, hope all went well. Hugs to you allxxx
Special hugs to all my besties on the blog, hope there is sunshine in your lives, and take carexxx

  110. Hi sue
Lovely different card today & I was pleasantly surprised to see how you did the vellum leaves...
I thought that the white image was stamped on the back of the vellum leaves after you had cut them out, but what an ingenious idea using the leaf die cut & then sticking both that & the matching vellum ones together, Love it & will definitely be trying that method...
Love the whole design & would be great for the guys & all occasions.

  117. Hello Sue!
It's me again! My iPad played ball and allowed me to watch your video at 11.58pm!! It was well worth watching! The sort of skeleton leaves stuck on the vellum are so clever! That's what softens it! Really lovely . Thank you! Thought I'd pop back ad I'd probably forget to mention in the morning , all being well!

  120. A lovely sparkly card Sue, and leaves are so versatile. I thought the card you uploaded to YouTube yesterday (gate card) was beautiful and because it was a flat design, makes it ideal
to post to family in USA and AUS. Thank you😊

  121. A rather late catchup with this one. I too like the monochrome look made less stark by the use of milk card with the vellum. I love working with vellum, but then I am a parcher! The leaves are lovely.
