Wednesday Weekly Card Giveaway

Hello all!  I have a small abundance of wedding style cards so I hope you don't mind me offering up another one for this week's card giveaway?  This was also a demo from June's shows if you recall.  I started with thee background and used the Best Wishes Triple Line die to cut several sections out of a piece of coconut white card.  I wanted the negative piece for this card so I used a bit of wax paper in between the die and the card to help the die release easily without stretching the card.  After lining up the die repeatedly down the card, I sprayed the back with spray glue and attached it to a piece of silver pearl card.  I added a piece of vellum to the front to soften the words so they appear as a more background element on the card.  Next I cut the Arbour Gate out of silver card and added it to the centre of the background.  The Happy Couple die were cut in both white and black and then I cut away the man's tux out of the black card and glued it to the white version.  I added the bride and groom with some mounting foam to the lower corner of the gate.  I made a floral element by cutting the Exquisite Poppy die out of white card and inking the edges of the flowers with a silver paint pen.  I assembled the petals for two flowers then sugared them both with Iced Snow.  I seated them on some white satin ribbon tied into a messy bow.  Heart Sprays were added around the flowers as accents.  A double white pierced mat was added to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x  7 3/4" in size.  leave a comment to be included in the drawing for this one!  The winner will be announced on Saturday's blog post.  All for now, Sue x

  2. Stunning card for the Wednesday giveaway, someone will be very lucky.
Elaine, super news about Andrews appointment, they do late appointments don't they.
Tina t, good that Peter is a bit more settled, hope he gets sorted soon.
Deb, sad about your father in law, hope you get the care sorted soon.
Norah, lovely to see you back, hope the family have a wonderful holiday, you will miss your little man.
Tina, hope you and Mick are doing okay.
Tracey, I ordered some pixie powders yesterday with my £10 Hichanda gift, you will have to give me some tips.
June, you are 1 year older than me. I am so impressed with your organisation, how I would love to get into your die collection, I have never counted mine but think they must be up around 1000 or more. I know I have the full set of Spellbinder Grand dies, including the discontinued ones, and that was from watching Sue use them over the years.
    Hugs to all.

  23. Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, what a stunning give away card today, how can you bear to part with it, what a beautiful keepsake for one lucky person.

Pam, yes I also have the full set (I think) of the grand spellbinders, and I still use them, not all I must admit because I am addicted to Sue's Noble Pierced ones, and yes I also have loads that I have not used, or used only once, I am addicted to dies.

Yvonne, not bragging at all, good idea about the little pen and book I started off that way but found it was quicker for me to type the information into a spreadsheet then it is to right it in a book (I can also put them in order when ever I want which I can't in a book), but enough. Now what are you going to do when Laine get's there to stop her pawing all over the manly flesh that is on tap...have you got security camera's to keep an eye on them (not sure whether I mean the men or Laine - sorry Laine only kidding), I know you are going to have a pixie dixie time, not long now.

Deb, I am so sorry to hear about your father-in-law, it is such a sad thing to happen, as Pam says - let's hope you get the care sorted soon

Elaine, Andrews appointment will be here soon, hope all goes well with it. I agree about the late appointments now, I have had a couple of 7pm ones too.

Tina T, Peter, Tina and Mick, Tracey, hope all is progressing well for you all and anyone else who has had problems, we are all supporting you.

I am now going to get ready for my craft club today, we are just doing our own thing today, I have a parching project for my youngest granddaughter so I might do some of that, it takes a while.

Oh and Sue is it true that your new release will be in a week or so, I understand that we can see what they are as from tomorrow but can't order them until later, looking forward to these.

Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs June Smith xxx

  36. Hi Sue
Stunning wedding card, I managed to finish my daughters birthday cards for last Saturday a friends card for tomorrow and 4 cards for a male 70th that was a challenge I kept them simple to fit in with everything else going on.
I haven't had chance to look through the blog but I know I have congratulations to the card winner and comment game winners at the weekend.
Mick has just finished a course of antibiotics for a chest infection only had 1 day he didn't eat which was good as food was tasting funny so now antibiotics have finished food will taste better, then his catheter started to bypass so had to be changed, has now got a morphine patch, morphine slow release tablets and liquid morphine but pain still a problem at times, he has been measured for a recliner chair so looking forward to that as the one he has is too small as he is 6'4" and it hurts his back. We have the macmillan nurse coming today, I cancelled the morning carers so alot easier now and have meeting with company and social worker tomorrow to get the other call times changed so after all that we are still smiling, our youngest 17 passed her beauty course so has just enrolled into a hairdressing course I will miss my little helper when she goes back to college but after all she has gone through with her dad this year she has done extremely well we are so proud of her.
Thank you all for all your kind words, well wishes an hugs and most of all your friendship
Tina hope all goes well with hubby's scan later
    Happy crafting
    Love and hugs to everyone

  106. Evening Sue. Late today as had to leave home at 6am this morning for grand-daughter sitting. If we leave it any later the slip road that joins the Manchester motorway is horrendous and can add at least an hour to our journey which in turn would make Lou late leaving for work, the best part of driving over the Moore's at that time was the magnificent sunrise and it was truely beautiful.
What can I say about today's card and your comment, go ahead and post as many of the wedding samples as you please, they will be a sight to enjoy as is today's sample and ALL the other samples you share with us. Only today I had an email asking for a 25th anniversary card so I just know from whome I shall get my inspiration from 😊 thank you.
Well 'my keeper' seems to be nodding off as he also had an earlier morning walk with four-paws as they go down to the local country park using the car which I obviously needed at 6am plus he had to go by foot there and back at lunch time that's without the walk in the park ! Something tells me age is catching up with us lol so I better start dinner now I've had a rest and hot drink. So now I've board you and anyone that reads all the comments about my day, I will finish as usual with my hugs and hope you've had a good day and a restful evening xxx

  112. Good evening lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

I found this card truly inspiring when I first saw it demonstrated on Hochanda, I confess that I had decided that the Special Occasion Collection just wasn't my cup of tea but seeing this card prompted me to buy the entire range:-) What I love most is the muted background, the best wishes obscured by the parchment paper is stunning and provides a softer feel to the background which let's the Arbour Gate and Happy Couple take centre stage. I plan to make this card just because I can and not because I need to, that's how much I love it....though it would be even nicer to be gifted it in the giveaway....just saying:-)
I'll keep it short and sweet today....audible sighs of relief.....since I've had a rather dodgy day and night last night. The excitement of Ally Pally has whipped me up into such a frenzy that I had a seizure earlier this morning and woke with a chronic migraine:-( Nevermind, stress and excitement always seems to trigger seizure activity but on the plus side I am still really looking forward to the occasion.....Yvonne has threatened to put a rubber sheet on the bed during my stay in case of accidents but I'm sure industrial strength Tena Lady will suffice:-)
So, feeling a bit delicate and really shouldn't be using my iPad yet but I can never resist seeing what delights lie in wait for me on Sues wonderful blog, especially on a Wednesday.

  117. Hi Sue
    Princess Pixie here.
Oh my word this card almost makes me want to get married so you can send it to me. Oh that would be an extreme measure so if you could put me in the draw and make sure I win then I won't have to find me a suitable husband! Lol x
Every piece of this beautifully composed card is just perfect. I will admit to adding the arbour gate and the bride and groom to my collection after seeing your fair hands work with them so gracefully. I have seen many bride and groom dies and they have never appealed to me as I have always thought they looked a bit naff!! And then along comes the more than spectacular bride and groom die from the one and only marvel that is Sue Wilson. Nuff said x
I have once again been living up to my Princess Pixie title today. A few of the powders that I ordered arrived. I am now the proud owner of 14 out of the range of 20 colours. I am so dazzled by these fabulously sparkly powders. Thankfully they are the only powders I have ever been addicted to. Lol x
If I can just give you a word of warning about the firework burst powders. When I first set about creating the usual over sparkly masterpiece that is usually achieved from these little pots of heaven. I was so excited as I was imagining that the firework burst was going to explode into a multi coloured array of glitz. Well I was in for a bit of a shock. When I gently sprinkled them onto my spritzed water colour card I thought they were broken!! No sparkle. I KNOW!!!
I was completely thrown as all that seemed to appear on the paper was a bit of a mess. Got to say my love affair almost came to an abrupt halt there and then.
I can sense your apprehension and disappointment as you have been on this journey of romance and love with me every step of the way! Fear not my friends. It would appear that the firework burst pixie powders need a little help from his brothers and sisters. When mixed with others in different combinations these rather dull muddy powders really come into their own.
So the moral of his tale is please play with other colours before the firework burst because it will save you being traumatised and thinking I am completely nuts as I have raved on so much about how shiny and sparkly they all are. You can learn by my mistakes x
Playing and a trip to Lidl today - taxied there and back by George. This level of activity is pretty impressive x
George is going to clean some more windows tomorrow and then I think I will send him up the chimney tomorrow afternoon. He has got to earn his keep somehow! The little angel has agreed to be chauffeur Lippy Loopy Laine and I to Ally Pally there and back on the Sunday so we are all set. Watch out everyone x
OK folks no individual comment's today. I think after my tutorial on Pixie powders I think I have bored you quite enough x
Sending everyone lots of love and hoping that things are not too tough. Please forgive my not mentioning people by name but after my verbal diarrhoea and busy day I am now ready for bed.
So to all my special blog buddies I will hopefully back to my usual condescending self tomorrow x
    Take care
    Happy thoughts
    Crafty hugs

  119. Hi Sue. WOW !!! What a beautiful Wedding card today !!! I absoluetly love it !!! The colour combo is perfect. I love the "Happy couple" die and the "Arbour gate" dies. I think they are very elegant. I like how you have done the background with the velum over the top to soften it. I think it looks really dreamy and romantic. The poppies on your card look stunning Sue, especially with the beautiful heart sprays !!! Thank you for sharing your beautiful card today. Sending you lots of love and hugs Sue from Tres x x x
