Wednesday Weekly Card Giveaway

Hi crafters!  I really liked the stamped image in today's card so I thought you might enjoy a different sort of card for the Wednesday giveaway (at least I hope so!).  I started by selecting a sheet of the Classic Elegance paper pad in the blue shade.  I cut it into three strips following the lines in the pattern.  I added mounting foam and raised all three panels onto another piece of coconut white card.  I cut another strip of paper using the pattern on the reverse side.  I cut a white border from the Swiss Border die and added it along the bottom of the strip.  I mounted it on the diagonal across the background. I added a floral element by cutting two flowers from the Blushing Rose set and seating them on some thin white satin ribbon.   I stamped the Rose Nostalgia Stamp to die for and cut it out with the matching Bern die.  I used the inside from the Bern die to cut it into a frame.  I coloured the stamped image using both Distress Markers and coloured pencils.  I stamped a sentiment and added mounting foam to the frame to raise it over the sentiment.  I made a thin frame using the inside dies from the Zurich and the Bern to highlight the sentiment.  The card was easily completed with a white on white pierced mat and layer.  The finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x  8 1/2" in size.  I will draw a winner from the comments left on this blog post and announce it on Saturday's blog post.  All for now, Sue x

  1. A beautiful Wednesday card Sue, someone is going to be very lucky.
Elaine, the best news we could have hoped for, I'm so happy the hospital were pleased with Andrew and he can now go for treatment. Woohoo! You must be so relieved after all this time . Massive hugs for Andrew.
Tina I'm sorry you are having this needless hassle with the Carers when you are trying so hard to ensure Mick is comfortable and stays at home, it is ridiculous that you are still having to do the work that they are paid to do. Hope this gets sorted soon or you will both be in hospital.
Lorraine, my heart goes out to you in so much pain, I would hug you but it would hurt you so gentle thoughts are sent to you.
    Trish, that crumble sounded delicious.
Daily hugs to Tracey, Wheeley, Laine and Yvonne, and all on the blo especially missing friends

  5. Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, a beautiful Wednesday giveaway, I really like the way you have used the Bern die to create the frame effect over the sentiment, it looks brilliant.

Elaine and Andrew, that is the best news ever, I am overjoyed for you, onwards and upwards.

Tina, I don't know what to say that would help you, except to reiterate that all your friends are here hoping that this can get sorted quickly, we don't want you both to end up in hospital - hugs xx

Lorraine, like Pam I am sending comforting thoughts over to you, I know it won't take the pain away but please know that we are all caring for you.

Trish, I love crumble did you not save us some............yummy

Tracey, one day at a time - hugs - same to Wheeley, Laine and Yvonne.

Didn't we do well in the Olympics, I stayed up watching the velodrome , talk about nail biting, and hopefully more to come. Come on Team GB we are right behind you.

Off to my craft club today, we are having a 'do your own thing' today, to give me a rest, if I am teaching then I can't craft can I, so we do this about once every 6 weeks, just got to get my bag packed as I am doing some parching today.

Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

  27. Hi Sue. Another Wednesday, another new home getting ready to receive this very pretty gift, another 'Particrafter' waiting to see if they will be joining the W.W.C. - (Wednesday Winners Club) not everyone will be of the same opinion as me but it's the beautiful, subtle shade of blue and the delicacy of the pattern from your paper pad that stands out to me and the border die that frames it so nicely. I'm not saying the stamp and rose die does nothing to enhance this Wednesday gift, just that the blue paper you have used makes the whole card smile at me ☺
Cannot believe the amount of beautiful weather we are still getting up here ! It's usually Lancashire and further up that miss out on the long warm weeks, we get the odd few days, but we are being positively spoilt this year ! At least our wonderful Tina E has been able to 'wind down' and hopefully relax a little as they enjoy beautiful Yorkshire - thinking of you dear true friend.

Sending you friendly hugs your way Sue and hope you enjoy your day xxx

  78. Hello Sue,
I'm sorry for the short post yesterday but I was a bit distracted. I do love today's card - don't aske me why but it reminds me of New England!
I love your colours and the seeming simplicity of the card. As someone else said , maybe Diane, you have some lovely stamps too!
Tracy - it would be lovely to find a Craft Group - it would be so nice to meet up with other Crafters. I'm sure you'd have fun too!
Tina - I'm sorry you are struggling with the problems of having Carers in your home at the moment. I hope it all sorts itself out ASAP. It should help you not make things worse! Thinking of you.
Elaine - such good news about Andrew - so pleased he is enjoying this lovely weather.
June - We were watching too! That little bike always makes me laugh but it became a bit of a joke last night! Well done Team GB!

Thank you so much for all the good wishes they mean a lot. I had a better night but still not great and I could feel a slight improvement but the pain is ramping up again. Fingers crossed I will be ok for the family get together on Saturday even if it's only long enough to eat a pasty, see my sister and nieces and have a cuddle with Harrison.
I hope you get the carers sorted Trish, I know they can be very problematic.
Tracy, a craft club could be just the ticket. I used to have wonderful times at crops.
June, enjoy yours. I am glad you get to play this time.
I have loads of Olympics to catch up on because I have to wait for Claire to watch the Gymnastics with me so I haven't seen the cycling yet. If only they split the programs up into chunks it wouldn't be taking up all the disc space.
My best friend paid me a visit yesterday afternoon which was lovely. I couldn't talk much but it was lovely to see her and she brought me flowers and white chocolate buttons :)
It's our wedding anniversary next week so we are wondering if I will be up to do anything special. Hubby mentioned a night away which would be lovely. If I am not up to it then it will be some more dies instead as the circle ones are calling to me even though I have some plain ones.
Get well wishes to Wheely, Yvonne, Laine and Myra and anyone else under the weather.

I had intended to comment much earlier but as always things have not gone according to plan.
I have been AWOL for a week as my friends had their 25th wedding anniversary on Saturday evening and as I mentioned last week I had prepared 'a performance' which needed a lot more tweaking than expected so took up quite a bit of time. The party was a great night and my contribution a hugely appreciated success.
When I was younger being fabulous and chatting up DJ's was not so tiring, lol. I did find that I was completely knackered Sunday, worse on Monday, a little brighter on Tuesday and feeling almost human today. I am pleased to say that the fatigue this time was almost worth it as it was not due to my getting stressed or being upset.
So as I have no plans to live it up for the next few weeks (until Ally Pally) I am truly hoping to be back on track and able to comment daily.
As it is a little later than I had planned I am going to send love and hugs to everyone and I will catch up on everyone's comings and goings and ups and downs in due course.
Take care and happy thoughts to you all.
    Crafty hugs
