Double Hugs

Good Sunday morning all!  I have recently noticed that I seem to have far more cards in my files than days to put them on to the blog!  I think it is a good problem to have though, so I plan to have some extra double days here and there in order to allow them their day on the blog!  I decided that I would do two cards using the same die today so you could see it in different ways.  Although the cards are rather similar, I think both are really nice in their own way.  You will have to let me know what you think of them!  For the first card, I cut the "sending you big" plaque out of the top of a piece of coconut white card then embossed it with the Jacobean Floral embossing folder.  I put a piece of black card behind the words to help make them more bold among the embossing.  Next I did a Bargello technique using shades of pink card from my stash and then cut the Hugs die out of them.  I added a black shadow then attached mounting foam to raise it and added it below the words.  I cut two Splendid Swirls out of black card and added them across the lower portion of the card.  I completed the card with a simple white, black white mat.  The finished dimensions are 7" x  8" in size.  Scroll down for the second Hugs card.

Card number two is similar in that I started it in exactly the same way by cutting the words into the top portion of the card.  I decided not to emboss this background though, keeping it just a plain simple white.  Next I cut the Hugs die out of about five different colours, a yellow, red, a couple of shades of blue and a purple.  I glued all of them together but offset each colour so you see a sort of rainbow effect.  I added a coconut white one to the top, keeping the clean and simple look to it.  I found a handful of various shades of sequins and glued them randomly to the lower part of the card.  I completed this one with a simple white pierced mat and another white mat.  The finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x  7 1/2" in size.  So, have a favourite??

Elaine, glad the leg is feeling better, well done on your crochet, I have never managed to master crochet but I do knit. Hope Andrew is enjoying his break, we had a day of rain yesterday.
Yvonne, Laibe, Wheelybad, hope you are all a little better today.
Norah, nice to see you back, I laughed about Rory, my little twin grandson Jack does just the same, one game on his iPad and another on his laptop whilst stretched out on the floor.

I love the clean simplicity and freshness of sample 2. When I've seen it make the odd quick appearance on HOCHANDA show's id guessed it was a sample of your's (see what I mean) - no mistaking a 'Sue sample' and always loved it. I don't own this collection of large word does but I'm starting to think they should be 'listed' lol.
Well done to the 3 comment winners and hope you enjoy your gift.

  20. No favourite today, Sue, great to see different takes from one die. Always amazed at your perfect precision - bargello on no.1 and the rainbow effect on no.2, never any wonky in sight!!
Tracy - as you know, I don't do messy either. My attempts always come to grief - from shaving foam to mica backgrounds etc, never useable... but slightly better at grunge which is soo forgiving. Update please on pixies as and when lol.
Wonderful to 'read' everyone here yesterday - Laine, Yvonne, Norah, Wheely - wishing you the better days you all so deserve.

Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, oh I love double days and what a difference between the two cards, and you are cruel asking us to choose, no really I am only kidding, you don't have a nasty bone in your body Sue..................my favourite has got to be the first one, I love the bargello technique and you have got it here to perfection, everything is dead straight, wish I could do that, mine always seem to go squew whiff. The second card also is really lovely, with the sequins just setting it off a treat.

  93. Good afternoon Sue and the WIlsonettes,
Sue for me the out right winner has to be number 2 as i like the cleaness of the lines in it and the hugs rainbowed is just lovely, without the sequins would make a good man card in my view but hey they could be the raindrops that the rainbow shines through. Thank you flower for the double icecream day, they are both nice in their own way but it's number two for me.
Well i will be glad when college starts back but then i have O.H off next week and wanting to change the world in the week he has off. Eh i don't think so and he can mump as much as he wants but this body is not up to shifting furniture anymore to paint and paper everywhere. He has his eyes set on the kitchen, hallway and stairs and the livingroom to start with. A blinkered horse could see better that his missus isn't able for all that better than he can. Never mind i have two lovely friends coming to meet me down at the Hub at Sterling warehouse tomorrow, the 3rd of the trio is away hopefully enjoying first class service and scenery at a much more pleasant pace than todays life offers. It is amazing how much the thought of meeting with friends can raise your inner self and give you back your smile. O.H. is busy making a computer for Rory (for his birthday that was last Sunday) of his own making it high spec and able to run off all his games so each day it is getting nearer completion and i will have back at least one device to go on to and see and speak to my lovely friends from around the world again as this has been a very long 3 months holiday. This finishing college at the start of June and not starting again until the last week of August is just so wasteful of time i think.
Ooo it is so nice to see all of this weeks winners once more Congratulations all especially my toddler friend Diane who will know what i mean, lol. I hope you all enjoy your prize when it arrives through your letter box.
Laine where do you live about as i think you must be within a 10 mile radius of myself and Fluffycat. It's the odd snippet that you say or that Yvonne says which makes me think that.
Well i have Kirsten and my friends daughter Julie to sort their swimming suits to fix today for their holidays a week on Wednesday (lucky sods), they are tad too gaping for the girls now that they are mums of their own. I have warned the two of them to make sure the babies are caked in factor 50 sun screen as it is not nice being sunburnt when you're an adult never mind an infant. I had Harry the other day and he went out of my house for a walk in his pram with me and he looked like the abominal snowman, but within yards of the house it was all soaked into his skin. She used to hate me putting sun tan lotion on her as i had the pair of them looking like snowmen when all the other mums just left their kids to the natural weather.
Well, sending hugs to all who need them Tracy, Elaine and Andrew who it's nice to here is having a bit of a break, Wheely i hope that headache has left to bother someonen else for a wee while, Tina & Mick and for all others that need, could do with or just want, a hug is on it's way.
    Love and crafty hugs

Dear Sue a fabulous pair of cards. The first card is similar to what I would do with the dies and embossing folder so I do like it however I love the Rainbow of colours under the 'hugs' die peaking out and the colourful sequins really pick that up. So this is my favourite card - because it's so different from what I would do and looks fantastic.

Next die set to buy then for me.

    Best wishes from Katie-Louise sweetlove

  95. Card 1 is my favourite. I love the idea of double days especially if it was 2 different ways to use the same die.

  98. One die, two so contrasting cards. Love the check hugs on the first and like the simplicity of the second. Do I have a favourite? I will have to use a term so familiar from US TV crime shows - 'I plead the fifth'!!!!!!!!!!

  115. Good evening lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

What a treat, to find not one but two Sue originals on display is simply awesome! I can quite believe that you have an excess of samples such is your work ethic, and boy am I glad because we are the ones to benefit:-)
The Perspective dies are just so cool, they transcend gender and age and are appropriate for even the trickiest of customers. It goes without saying that I love what you have done with them in these examples, the Bargello effect on card one is stunning, I love the soft pink tones set against the subtlety embossed background. However, my preference is for the simplicity of card two....never thought I'd say that.....it sings to me and the clean simple lines appeal, in fact, all this card needs is the subtle introduction of colour from the shadowing, complimented by the sprinkle of sequins. Thankyou for the double dose of brilliance today Sue, you're a gem:-)
Feeling predictably sluggish today having stayed up to watch Mo Farah race the 5000m in Rio.....just as well I did because as my Mum later discovered to her disappointment, the highlight programme had failed to record it:-( She was incandescent so I tried to calm her by showing her the final two laps on my I pad, not the same but better than nothing I guess....well done team GB, you have provided me with many highs and a few dodgy moments over the past two weeks and I am at a loss as to what I'm going to do with my time every day.....make cards I hear Yvonne cry!:-)
Talking of making cards, I have a birthday card to create this week , it's for my brothers partner so it has to be spectacular, oh the pressure:-) I'm ashamed to admit that I haven't made one since May so I'm a little rusty.....sometimes your mojo goes AWOL and at times like these Sue becomes even more valuable so Thankyou for helping me to create something of beauty based upon your fabulous designs.
Norah, I live in Stirling in full view of your beautiful Ochils. I'm not sure where exactly you or Frances stay but I'm assuming it's somewhere along the Hillfoots or in the wee county Clackmannanshire, so pretty close indeed:-) Aren't we lucky to stay somewhere so picturesque? Good luck with reigning in your hubby's thirst for DIY, if he wants a few rooms to paint then I can happily oblige:-) What is Rory studying at college?
Wheely Bad and Lorraine, hope you have both had a good weekend free of suffering.
Frances, our dual absences do suspiciously appear to be a conspiracy but I can assure you that I would play no part of a movement that sees Sues blog suffer and the great lady deprived of the praise she so richly deserves:-)
Tracy, well done you for rocking the silver vixen look, I for one would not be so brave.....I intend to go to the grave clutching a tube of hair dye! Short silver hair is so stylish, it must be such a joy to have your own hair again sweetie. I can't speak for that witch Yvonne:-) but I would be more than happy to have your company and moral support in my next trip to London, there's safety in numbers and I wish we'd thought of it sooner:-)
Huge hugs to Yvonne, did you get through that mountain of dirty washing donated by Jake?, Beth, Maria, P, Pam, pat, Theresa, Alison, June, Elaine and Andrew, Rebecca, Jan and Linda plus cuddles to all in needxxx
