Wish You Were Here

Hi bloggers!  Back to one of my favourite combos of black and white for today's card.  I started by cutting the Squared Tile Striplet using the decorative inner die only on both sides of the card.  I used the Bruges outside cutting edge to cut an aperture in the middle of the card.  Using my paper cutter, I cut both of the striplets in half down the middle of them.  I overlapped the cut off pieces back onto the other piece of the die and made them smaller, which resulted in a different look too them as well.  I added a thin black strip of card along the edge where the piece had been cut to disguise the cut lines.  I added mounting foam to raise the piece and added it to a piece of black card.  I finished cutting the Bruge die in white and recessed it into the aperture.  I used the smaller die from the set and cut it in black, backing it in white.  I cut it into a frame and added mounting foam to the back.  I stamped my sentiment and covered it with sticky adhesive sheet, peeled off the backing and seated the frame over it.  I glittered it with Diamond Sprinkles for a little bling.  The card was then completed with a white, black , white mat assembly.  The finished dimensions are  6 1/2" x  8 1/2" in size.  All for now, Sue x

  5. Morning Sue. Had to take a quick peek before leaving the house for part 2 of treatment and goodness knows how I'm not doubling up on letters as my hand is shaking so much lol !! Everything about today's very smart card says masculine. A fantastic colour and design for our 'now easier' male cards. With every new collection you bring comes more tools for those awkward cards so thank you.

  12. Love the way you used the die today Sue. Black and white with a bit of bling always looks elegant.

My youngest daughter is having her gall bladder removed today. It's keyhole surgery being done as a day case so my hubby will wait at the hospital until they discharge her. I hope it all goes well. I didn't realise so many young women in their 20's have their gall bladder removed. My middle daughter had to have hers removed 3 years ago (she was 28) My mum had hers removed in 1977 but I'm sure she was in her 30's at the time.

I'll probable sit in my craft room and mess with inks and paint today to keep my mind occupied. Sounds like a plan.

    Have a nice day everyone.

What a delicious design, the monochrome colouring is divine and extremely sophisticated plus very classy. The stand out component for me is the tiled striplet border, it's gorgeous and very Art Deco in feel. A very impressive design Sue, a triumph.
Feeling a little dodgy today, tried to enjoy the sunshine but my heart wasn't in it:-( Tomorrow is another day I guess:-) Had a really busy week so far, think that it's just catching up with me....Maybe a nice stress free weekend crafting is what's in order.
Annie, I hope that your daughters operation went well, her recovery should be speedy after key hole surgery and any discomfort she feels will be nothing compared with a gall stone attack. Take care.
Denise, give your back plenty of rest, it's the only way to help it in the long run, hope the painkillers have made it more manageable for you though.
Tina, glad Mick has his appetite back, it will help to build his strength up again and stop you from worrying yourself sick over his progress.
Elaine, happy belated birthday to Andrew, glad he enjoyed the day:-)

What a week. Sorted meeting with care agency for next week. A weight off the mind. Got Mum in law sorted with the sewing she needed help with during the week but it exhausted me. Brother no.1 is as fastidious as me when it comes to cleaning I found out on Thursday, he said he wanted to do a good job so when my cleaner came back Monday all was in order, bless him. Showed him the stuff I got for his wedding crafting and he's happy but his fiancée will get final say when I've done a sample. I did some little bits while he cleaned to help plus I groomed Billy and by the time Mr W left Thursday evening I was shattered and fell asleep until 11pm. Wouldn't have normally been a problem but today (Friday) is Mr's birthday and I hadn't made a card so I was in the craftroom for 2 hours until 1:30 am making him a card and wrapping his surprise gift. He thought he'd had his gift from me already as I got him some Polaroid glasses for fishing about 6 weeks ago but I surprised him with a T shirt of our favourite band, on the picture, which was in the style of a book illustration from the 1700s, were dogs that looked like lurchers so Billy and I decided it had to be done. It was also his last day at work so before he got home I washed, got changed, put on a bit of jewellery and make up. Was a great idea in theory but after the week I had it was too much and I spent the early evening with a migraine and spasms in my neck and back affecting my right arm. You just have to see the comedy in moments like that! We're going to his parents tomorrow for tea. We changed from Sunday so his aunt and uncle could make it too. I will be having a sleep tomorrow afternoon or it won't happen as I know I'm kinda on the edge of things. If I can't I shall send him and Billy regardless. So again, a chance of being very worn out unless I find some spoons from somewhere so if I don't visit, don't worry. Need some crafty time so badly but energy needed elsewhere. Maybe next week?!

Sending smiles and big hugs to Pat and Sarah, Laine, Yvonne G, Norah, Theresa W, P, Maria, Fluffycat, Marg, Lorraine F, Alison, Pam, June and anyone I missed x

Sending big hugs and good wishes to everyone wherever you are in the world. Have a great weekend x

See you all asap! T x

  111. Super design. I'm sure the design will work using a different colour too as I'm not into black on cards. I have both of the dies you've used and though I'm getting more adventurous at snipping away with the scissors I hadn't thought of making this striplet into a border.
Nanna Tina, it's good to hear that Mick is eating well. I hope his spasms and the pain settle down soon.
    Take care everyone.
