Gemini Easel

Hi crafters!  Today's video is an easel card, which is a bit different for me!  It uses a variety of dies to create a wonderfully detailed card.  I hope you have a few minutes to watch the video.

I also want to give you a quick reminder that I have shows on Hochanda today at 9am, 12 noon, 4pm and 7pm with the One Day Special!  I hope you can tune in!

The finished dimensions are 5" x  5 1/2"  (closed) in size.  All for now, Sue x

  1. Love this card, so beautiful. It's very textural in a very pretty way. I missed my guess yesterday, I will go for 1811 cards.
Hope everyone has enjoyed their Christmas and New Year celebrations.
Special hugs to Melody and family, Tracey and all who are not well, and everyone else who wants one too.

  18. Really lovely little card today, Sue, so pretty and one that my late Mum would have adored, being a blue lady!
Great show last night, must say that I thought uh oh when saw who the presenter was - but you definitely brought out the best in him. If they could only get the camera close-up shots up to speed it would be so much better - just seems everyone is looking into the monitor just waiting. Anyway, lots of fab samples, particularly the (again) little card shown at the start of the show - beautiful! Is this a new departure? Think 2016 will be v interesting.
Late this morning, rabbited on and a busy day ahead, so will watch video this evening and an advance thank you. Hope to catch some of the shows.
    Hugs to all.

This a lovely card, it may be a departure for you but it certainly worked. Can we expect some more such departures through the year? I guess we just have to be patient and wait and see.

Had hoped to see more demoing last night but enjoyed what you did. Looks as if we might get more this morning. The morning paper hasn't arrived so this is my excuse to watch live. Hope your day goes well.

Just watching you on Hochanda and taking in all of the tips you are using, the cards are great and I hope that I will be able to afford to buy some of the dies this year. My wishlist is very long but unfortunately the funds won't stretch to buying all of the items on the list so some will have to move to the bottom until I can win the lottery!!

But at least I can learn from your ideas and adapt to what I do have and be thankful that I am much better off than a lot of people in this world.

Lots of love and craftihappiness and stay safe everyone.

WOW! what a change to see a different shaped card from your norm.
I love the easel effect cards but was never a fan of the 'stoppers', too bulky sometimes in my personal view. BUT, yours is so delicate and goes with the theme of the card. Excellent choice, I love it, can't wait to see more and try one myself, although with different dies.

  91. I've made dozens of easel cards over the years, but never one as pretty as yours. You found a way to put a new twist on it with the Gemini dies....so beautiful. Again, your die design for the sentiment die works for both orientations....always thinking about the end user....love it! Your foliage dies also are wonderful for the same reason...the smaller parts you can snip off have nice shape and your foliage sets take into consideration right and left orientation. No wonder you have such a fan base.

The size of today's card is a departure from your usual card size. Interesting. I lean toward 5x7 cards and square cards ranging from 5x5 to 6x6. Card available here in the U.S. is more conducive to these sizes, not to mention postage costs are rising.

Great video today...I need some thank you cards, so I'm going to use your ideas...I'm totally motivated and inspired.

Beautiful card & must say is definitely a change for you with an easel card which is absolutely stunning.
I am a real fan of easel cards & do tend to make a lot of them as I like the dimension & different shape but have never thought of creating the stopper with a pretty edger die as you have done with the matching die to create the card top too.
Your so creative with your card styles & always think of something different which is amazing, thank you so much for sharing all your wonderful creativity with us lucky crafters..
Gorgeous card as always & look forward to being amazed with more of your beautiful designs in 2016...

  108. Good afternoon Sue and the Wilsonettes,
This is such a bonny card Sue with the frilly stopper and the easel card design and is one of the few times that i am likely to make "small" cards but it has it all going on at half the size but still something that someone would cherish. I have made a few different Sue cards for Kirstens new granny(Ryan's granny) who has dementia but is always fair away when i send her a new card for her to encase in a frame and drive her family nuts with telling them over and over again about the card that i have made for her. Don't get me wrong it is lovely that she is so pleased with what her new addition might be but i do feel sorry for her family getting told the same story over and over again. But if you seen the joy that is on that old lady's face when she sees a new card just made for her, it really makes you happy that you can bring something as simple as a card and she is so excited about it. That is what your talent does Sue over and over again to people all over the world just because of your talent for making the right kind of dies for us to work with. I hope that you have had a wonderful festive break and that you are enjoying bringing your beautiful dies to us all on Hochanda today. Sending hugs to you and all the Wilsonettes, especially those like Tracey, Wheely Bad, Saba and Val, Sheila and all that could do with that wee bit extra kindness and thought,
    Love and crafty hugs

  111. Beautiful card Sue!
I have to say I am not a fan of easel cards but this one is so delicate and dainty looking whereas most are too big and clumpy for my liking. I just prefer the normal style card. Will watch the video later in bed.

  115. Sue, I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to contact you, but couldn't find any other way, here goes, I liked your favourite cards of 2015, and wondered if there was a way of downloading them in one go, altogether,( instead of singly) on a disc or something as there are so many, and I like them all? Cheers and thankyou, Marilyn.x

  128. Good evening lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

Wow, what a stunning departure from your normal style of card- I love an easel card, I haven't done one myself in absolute ages but I have definitely been inspired to give it a go again. I love your use of the Gemini die, it is intricate and very feminine when incorporated with the butterflies. I am so excited to see what you have in store for us in 2016, it's hard to imagine that there is any room for improvement with your card designs and dies but you always manage to take my breath away with your creative flair and total genius....no pressure there then I guess:-) Your commitment to your art is admirable, working during the holidays, all for our benefit, shows dedication beyond compare, many thanksxxxx
Apologies for my absence over the past couple of days, however, can it wish eAch and every lovely Wilsonette a belated prosperous and very happy new year!
Initially, I spent Hogmany as planned, gently easing myself into the day in preparation for the evenings festivities- I pampered and preened myself and launched myself into the evening with high hopes, excitement and a bottle of champagne in hand. You see, in my student days I liked to have a few drinks before I left the house just to warm me up for the jollity ahead, well, failing to take into account that a) I rarely drink anymore, b) I'm no longer in my twenties and c) it's I advisable to drink on an empty stomach, I began the night by enthusiastically imbibing said bottle of champagne. Everything was going well....until a friend offered a large shot of whiskey.....the rest of the night fell into chaos as all thoughts of going to the party at the local pub diminished. I was sick, very sick, much to my total embarrassment and ended up in bed before 11.30pm...the shame!
So Yvonne, my dear friend, your assessment of my absence was rather astute, I made a drunken, debauched show of myself and suffered for my folly yesterday spending most of the day trying to rediscover the will to live:-)
I did manage to muster the energy to watch our great leaders launch show, nothing short of a natural disaster would stand in my way.
I've been kind to myself today as well, abandoning any notion of housework in favour of watching Sue weave her magic once more- no purchases as yet unfortunately, still impoverished after Christmas, but I enjoyed it tremendously nonetheless
Sending hearty hugs to all my blog buddies, plenty of cuddles available on demand:-)

    Crafty hugs

  132. Evening Sue
Well I have had a fabulous day in your company. First there was Hochanda, then there was many of the videos which I had not had the chance to watch and then to fill in the gaps I spent the rest of my time with you on you tube. You are such good company and the conversation never runs dry. I have a numb bum as it has not moved for most of the day and a kitchen that resembles that of a shared students accommodation but I don't care. I'm happy and feeling full of inspiration and ready to go. I am hoping to be able to act on this positive attitude which I have acquired during the course of the day.
As ever you were fantastic and I am already looking forward to your next appearance. Just a thought - if you would like a bit of company on your looming trip I am more than happy to drop everything to keep you company. After all we have spent the day together all day today and it wasn't that bad was it. I will even bring large supply of your special fudge to keep you going for the entire trip. You just say the word Sue x
I am hoping that you will be revealing the total amount of cards you managed in 2015. Please put us out of our misery soon. I was hanging on to your every word during your shows today just in case you happened to mention it but you are definitely building up the tension.
So it is Christmas tree down day tomorrow. The boys are back at work/college on Monday so they will crack on tomorrow making things look less 'grotto like'. I must tackle the mess in the kitchen which is down to total neglect on my part due to a pressing engagement to fulfil my roll as most dedicated and favourite Wilsonette!
LAINE - I know you so well. Why is it that we still feel 20ish inside but our delusions are sadly completely annihilated when we attempt to duplicate behaviour which was acceptable and fun in our younger day. The after effects of said behaviour takes so long to recover from that I have come to the conclusion that one should attempt to grow old with grace and finesse. Of course one does not manage to achieve this all the time (and in your case hardly ever), but at least goes some way to making other people thinking we are fine, upstanding and decent human beings even though we are absolutely not.
I do hope the beginning to your new year has not set a president for the rest of 2016. No wonder Brody is so badly behaved. I blame the parents x
That's me done for the day. Sue has worn me out - but it was worth it. Hope everyone is happy and bearing up.
    Crafty hugs
    Yvonne

  134. A beautifully stunning easel card. I have a birthday card to make, so I think I will try this easel card of yours. I will have to subsitute a couple of your other dies to make it, but I have confindence I can put something together that will give me pleasure. As long as I use some of your dies, I can't go wrong! I was able to watch a few of your Hochanda shows this weekend. It is such a pleasure to watch you create. Now if only I can find your dies and order them here in the USA. I find some of your dies here in the USA, but not all of them. Happy New Year!

Your card is stunning and cannot wait till I am well enough to try and make it up.
I have the flu and have been in bed from the old year and still in bed today. I am sure it won't be long till I feel better, once I have watched your videos.
