Fabulous Day

Good Sunday morning all!  Today's card is a bit of an ombre sort, as I am quite taken with that trend.  I have seen it absolutely everywhere of late and I think it is especially pretty in cards.  I started the card by cutting the Intertwining Circle Striplet without the outside cutting edge three times in a piece of coconut white card to create the background.  I selected three varying shades of aqua coloured card (from my leftover stash box).  This is a great card to use up some of those smaller bits you have.  I cut three strips and covered each one with a sticky adhesive sheet.  I peeled the backing paper off and placed them behind each of the striplets in order from lightest to darkest.  Next I coated them with Diamond Snow from the front of the background piece so all of the exposed adhesive caught the glitter.  I used the Double Pierced Noble Squares (both sets) to create a layered frame with white and aqua card and placed it over the background.  I used the Grace die to cut a decorative frame and backed it in white and seated it over a stamped sentiment, then attached it in the centre of the card.  I used the same three shades of aqua card to cut some small flowers from the Orange Blossom complete petal set.  I glued them around my sentiment as a small accent.  I completed the card in my usual pierced matting and layering.  The finished dimensions are 7 3/4" x  7 3/4" in size.
Just a quick reminder that I will be doing the drawings for the winning dies tomorrow morning, then posting the winners in a separate post in the afternoon.  There is still time to add any comments to posts you may have missed if you do it before Monday morning!  Don't forget to check back in the afternoon too, to see if your name has been drawn!  All for now, Sue x

Lovely card and one of my favourite striplets at the moment, although I love the new zigzag one more - just don't have that one yet.
I tried yesterday's faux leather effect (with a different embossed die) and as a first attempt I'm very pleased with how it turned out. Thanks for showing it.

Tracy, You have come so far in your journey, I admire your stoical comments and courage. Radiotherapy is a doddle after the chemo. Just look out for the fatigue, it can hit you at any time although usually about a week after your first treatment. So make time for R&R, and don't try to push yourself too hard, if you feel tired take an extra nap. I know I had to.

  122. The colors are so soothing and fresh looking. I'm ready for the spring-like colors. Your background die cuts are very nice...I believe, once again, this die would work for the guy cards. The tiny flowers add just the right touch...really pretty.

BTW...played with my new embossing folder and all the cardstock weights worked beautifully, but I think my favs were the 100# and 110# cardstocks. I like the sturdiness and the detail of the ef was a tiny bit more pronounced...in my humble opinion.

Yes all in all i love this beautiful card, it is stunning flower and i can see making it up for so many different occasions so thank you for yet another WOW.

  131. Very pretty card Sue, had to smile at what I guess was an auto-correct :D

Hombre: a man, especially one of a particular type.
"the Raiders quarterback is one tough hombre"

ombré: Having tones of colour that shade into each other, graduating from light to dark:

We all know what you mean though ;)

  132. Hello Sue.

Lovely Card. I love your background and the hombre colouring, I can imagine this is going to be a favourite technique using many colours and striplet dies. I love your delicate focal point, very pretty. Thanks for sharing.

  133. Hi, Sue,
What a delightful card today. I've wanted to try the ombre effect for quite some time, both in my card making and my jewellery making but just haven't been able to manage to get it just as I want it. I have to say that using the different shaded cardstock is a LOT easier than using inks, I don't know why I hadn't thought of something so simple lol. I love the dies you've used, really pretty and a great finished project. Thanks so much for sharing with us.

  142. Good morning/afternoon Sue and your amazing Wisonettes. This card is beautiful and I, too, love the ombré effect. As Bejay said, getting the effect with cardstock is so much easier than using inks. (I would have never thought of doing that. lol)

Congratulations on your new collection each new die is just so beautiful. I was dipping in but wouldn't start commenting properly again until the launch was over as you know my feelings about that. I'm lucky enough to have been given two as a thank you gift from my lovely hubby, not necessary, but gratefully accepted and they are gorgeous. Another A4 sheet of paper full of those does still on my wish list !!
Today's card is so delicate with the various shades of blue, a technique I must try once I feel like crafting again.
