You Are Special

Good Sunday morning all!  I've been doing some subtle letterpressing as I started this card by inking up my Bed of Roses embossing folder with a Clear Perfect Medium.  I ran a piece of coconut white card through the machine to transfer the ink to the card.  I dusted it with Pearlescent Mica powder for a very subtle shine in the floor of the design (you can see this in the close ups).  I cut five of the Corner Squares dies in white and then backed them with a blush card solid piece using just the outer cutting edge.  I arranged them as a border going down the side of the card by overlapping the slightly and raising one end on each of them with foam.  Next I cut the You are Special die several times in white and layered them up for dimension.  I cut it once out of blush and used the flower fall away to piece back into the white one.  I added some Cosmic Lacquer and some Diamond Snow and allowed it to dry.  I backed it in blush card using an oval die.  I wrapped flesh seam binding around the card vertically and tied a messy bow.  I used the Diagonal Foldover flower die and cut it out of white felt to create my flower.  I topped the bow with some Bakers Twine and added my flower.  The sentiment was placed over the ribbon with mounting foam.  I completed the card with my usual pierced mat and matching layers.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x  8" in size.

Due to the die launch, I haven't done the Comment game this week, however, I will be doing the drawing for the winning dies and posting it later today, so please don't forget to check back to see if your name is among the winners!  All for now, Sue x

Melody, I'm glad that Francis and his brother got to see each other although it was not the best visit. Francis sounds very down after his hospital stay, I hope he picks up soon.
Molly glad you had a lovely birthday and that the dinner went well.

  20. Morning Sue. WOW This is a stunning card. It has a lovely delicate, feminine look to it. The letterpress looks beautiful as does the subtle sheen to the background. The boarder reminds me of one of your striplets, the little grey cells cant remember which one it is lol. Another one for me to try for my stash box as i think this would make a beautiful wedding card by just changing the sentiment. Good luck everyone for the draw later today.
Take care everyone. Some of the snow has gone but it is very cold this morning.

Lorraine F, glad you enjoyed your trip out. Re your outhouse do you have anyone in your family who can build a little ramp to help you up and over the door threshold? It's not good if doing this affects another aspect of your health. You can also buy removable ramping but I couldn't say which type would be best for you. Can give you a good website if you'd like to look. If there's no one in your family/ friends who can build a ramp or the shop brought solution won't work try the charity Remap, they have volunteers all over the country and they build/ invent customised solutions to problems that people with disabilities / long term health problems have. I hope you can find a solution, hugs and I hope the costochondritis improves soon xxx

Yvonne, hope MIL is behaving and following doctors orders. Hope also you don't get worn out. Make sure the men in your life chip in too. Hugs xxx

Missed commenting yesterday. Quite exhausted as I had a shower and them Mr W took me to the supermarket to pick up a few bits and have coffee and cake. Car journey very painful, sure the roads round here are still cobbled!!! I only just managed to stay awake watching the evening football match on the sports channel and glad I did as it was really entertaining.

Must dash, he'll be here soon with the main weeks shopping.

Sending hugs to everyone, especially if you ill or struggling with life in general, thinking of those who aren't up to commenting. Take care everyone, have a peaceful Sunday,

  137. Good afternoon Sue and the Wilsonettes,
There is such a beautiful soft and subtle touch to this card with the mica twinkling slightly in the background. I do like when you do your subtle cards as you have to look more deeply than just a passing glance to see all its wonders. The soft pink just sort of makes the white not as stark or bright as it normally looks, but such a beautiful delicate card. I have just used my favourites once more to make a shaped card and box lid for my brother in law who is getting remarried(3rd time lucky), i just love the Spainish collection for making these beautiful cards as they are different from the cards that people get from the high street and i know that they will not get another like mine so they will hopefully like it.
It's a tad on the chilly side up here in Central Scotland, i don't know if it was the goosebumps or the purple feet that let me in on that piece of info this afternoon but its dry and bright with some snow on the back hills of the Ochils so a good day. Making Harry up the night before Christmas book from Hunkydory for his mummy to read to him on Christmas eve and perhaps set a tradition up for the wee fella although at 6months he'll be not to bothered about it being his first Christmas or not but it will make it a better day for me this year. I am busy knitting all the other babies born this year jumpers and tammys to keep them warm as there present as it just seems to get dearer every year. Just got Rory, Campbell, Ryan and his dad still to get for as everyone else is taken care of. It just seems like i'm permenantly skint at the moment, so thank goodness it only comes once a year. Have a great day everyone and sending hugs to all the Wilsonettes(and honary ones as well),
    Love and crafty hugs

The pink and white is lovely. I miss your signature pins...I see soft pink pearls as an accent for a switch up. Have a lovely Sunday.

  154. Evening Sue
Absolutely beautiful. Such a gorgeous colour combination and a lovely feminine card. I have so many friends I can think of that would love to receive a card like this. I haven't got all the ingredients but I am sure I could attempt a variation. thank you once again Sue for such wonderful ideas and inspiration x
Have noticed a real drop in temperature. Winter is definitely here now. Dark nights and lots of new programmes on tv. Pj's and candles are definitely the order of the day.
Loving this series of Strictly and find myself fantasizing that I can dance like one of the professionals - you have to have dreams!
Is anyone addicted to I'm a Celebrity? The boys and I are loving it. I love Ant and Dec - fellow Geordies - must confess to being a little disappointed that Dec got married earlier this year - I thought it was going to be me! The boys are quite enjoying Jorgie Porter but then she is rather beautiful and so sweet so I don't blame them.
I have rested today and the boys are sorting dinner out. Fajitas are on the menu - yum. Haven't got gluten free tortillas so going to have my chicken with a slow baked very crispy skinned jacket potato. Not complaining - love jacket potatoes - I am easily pleased x
    MELODY - sending you a hug x
TRACY - I am sorry you are being a human pin cushion at the moment but I bet you look fabulous with your new head of hair. Love and hugs x
LAINE - sounds like you have been through it a bit hun. Hope you feel much better very soon. It must be serious if you have lost the desire to craft. The lack of energy is so frustrating isn't it? Take care and fingers crossed you will be back to your usual sarcastic and obnoxious self, (which is a more accurate description of your personality rather than the description which you use - charming and witty - who are you trying to kid)????!!!! x
MOLLY - Happy Birthday for Friday. Wow 13. Sounds like you did really well and are a very lucky young lady. You deserve it gorgeous girl x
WHEELY BAD - my boys are definitely doing their bit x
Got to go - I can smell dinner. Have a lovely evening everyone and fingers crossed I will 'see' you tomorrow

  160. Hi Sue. WOW !! This is a beautiful card !! You have used very subtle colours. I have made cards before using the coconut white and blush foundations card and they look really good together !! I made a card recently with the coconut white and wisteria foundations and found to my surprise that it is a really pretty match, even though both colours are very light. I love your new word die "you are special" and it is on my Christmas wish list. I love the little flowers on it and it is a lovely font. The rest of the card is lovely to. Thanks for sharing this wonderful card Sue. Sending you lots of love from Tres x x x

  162. Hi Sue, pretty in pastel and I love the way you have used the corner in a diamond orientation.

Tracy - so sorry you have had a set-back but that's all it is and I'm sure you will overcome it.

Molly - pleased you had a good time and what a lucky girl you are with all your lovely presents. Stick with the stamping, it is great fun as is the colouring in part. If you are struggling there are plenty of tutorials on YouTube (only if you are allowed to go on it).

Must go and leave my congratulations on the next post.

  172. Good evening lovely Sue and her crafty crew,

Wow, this is my kind of card! I adore everything about it- the colour palette is a favourite of mine, it's so soft and feminine, the Bed of Roses EF is also my go to folder, it works so well with a variety of dies, and you've even added a much loved fold over flower and ribbon accent, it's just perfect. I love the days, of which there are many, when it turn to your blog...the first thing I do in the morning, even before breakfast and brushing my teeth...and I am presented with a sight of jaw dropping beauty and exquisite craftsmanship- today was one such day.
I would recreate this little gem but I don't have the dies, as yet, and won't do for a while yet, but I have squirrelled it away in my must do folder for future reference.
I must admit to having forgotten about the die giveaway so it was a pleasant surprise to realise that the announcement was pending- I never seriously expect to win and I am happy to see a few very familiar names on the list like Saba and Lorraine F, who will be overjoyed and boosted by their prize, congrats to all you lucky ladies!
I gave myself a stern talking to today and did a few hours of prep for my Christmas cards using my new Platinum machine- apart from the difficulty turning the handle, it works like a dream and cuts perfectly first time no matter where you place the dies, plus it takes less turns and embossing is ridiculously straightforward so I'm pleased I upgraded....just need to eat more spinach to boost my strength!
My stitches are getting tight now and the wounds are still weeping but it seems to be a little less red so I can't complain, it's not like I've lost a limb or anything, is it?:-)
Tracy, you are really being tested to the limit honey, hope you feel better soon cos chemo is enough for you to deal with methinksxx
Lorraine F, hope your in less discomfort today, well done you on trying to get a bit more independence though, Wheelys advice about the ramp could help- we have a scooter and have to keep it in the hallway which is a real tight squeeze, plaster and paint has been damaged with our cack handed attempts at reverse turns:-)
Yvonne, so pleased to have you back to your catty, offensive best- I am most certainly witty and charming and the fact that you are too envious of my obvious qualities to acknowledge them is such a shame, it's a good job my self esteem is such that I can remain unaffected by your character assassination. But I am prepared to give you another chance because we so clearly share a love of good tv- Strictly is a passion of mine for many obvious reasons....Gleb, mmmmm!.....and in another life I see myself as a British Baby looking to salsa with my own Johnny. I did have my own foray onto the stage at four when I danced in a green tutu to Cliff Richards Summer Holiday, sadly my parents didn't recognise my potential and a glittering career was lost:-( Are you still having your Apprentice parties, the series is really shaping up quite nicely now don't you think?
Molly, what a fantastic birthday sweetie, enjoy playing with your new machine and dies- were they from the recent launch? Hope you're strong enough to turn your handle cos otherwise, the Platinum is an excellent machine.
Hugs to Wheely Bad and Billy, melody, Rebecca, Maria, Beth, Theresa, Jan and all my other blog buddiesxxx
    Nighty night.
