Many Thanks

Hi bloggers!  Not sure if the colours used here will show up true, but it is blush, taupe and milk card for a very soft almost vintage feel to it.  I started by adding a bit of texture to the background by embossing a piece of milk card using the Linen Texture embossing folder.  Next I cut four of the Pavo Gemini die using both cutting edges and the centre decorative die out of blush card.  I backed the with taupe card cut using just the two cutting edges.  I mounted them on foam for dimension and attached them to my embossed background to create a square frame.  I cut away the parts of the embossed background that showed outside of the frame and mounted entire piece on another milk card.  Next I used the centre die from the Porto die to cut two decorative pieces out of milk card.  I crisscrossed them and attached them in the centre of the frame.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with the Porto circle, highlighting it with Spun Sugar distress ink.  I cut a slightly larger circle out of taupe card to mat it with and placed them in the centre of the frame.  I completed the card by piercing a milk mat.  I followed that with a thin blush mat and a thin taupe mat and a final milk mat.  The finished dimensions are 8 1/4" x  8 1/4" in size.

On another note, I have noticed that we have hit our blog candy goal, but unfortunately that drawing will have to wait until I am back in the UK.  Sorry for the delay, but I will let you know when it can take place later on.   All for now, Sue x

  59. Hi Sue & Lovely Wilsonettes; what an awesome gem of a card you have for us today Sue & the colours are coming through true to form on my computer. I love the Linen Texture EF, can’t think why I have not invested in this one before. Thank you for sharing with us & showing us just how we can put our dies & stash to good use in a different way, I have missed commenting on your extraordinary & incomparable talents these last weeks but you certainly have given me much to look forward to & for that I am exceedingly thankful & indebted to you x x x
HELLOOOO my friends (sorry didn’t mean to shout; Lol, heck I have every reason to as I’m so excited to be back, can’t believe it has been almost 3 weeks & I have missed you all so much, but time & health has run away from me I’m afraid – hands up whose familiar with that daily scenario; Lol.
I finally completed the decorating; phew, so as well as work, housework etc it took 1 day for 2 coats ceiling, 2 days for 3 coats to top wall (to get a good colour glow from ‘Honey Beam’), 2 days for 2 coats to lower wall (love the ‘Soft Stone’), 2 days glossing (pale creamy colour & I totally dislike glossing but love the end clean results); I know you can all count so what about the rest of the days I hear you ask; Lol, well the carpet was to be laid 2 days later but grrrrr I got a call to say delay in obtaining it so had to wait a few more days – so what did I do oh yes Mr B popped me along to CE HQ & I commiserated myself by buying some colour cloud inks, ‘Tartan Trellis’ EF, cardstock, a SW cutting die (which was hard to choose because I couldn’t get to my faithful hat in storage to draw from) & ‘Frosty Blossom Guilding Wax & Texture Paste’...OooH can’t wait to get rubbing with my hands – I know what you’re thinking but I meant playing with the wax ladies with the wax; Lol. Then I brought some boxes of eggs so I could use the cardboard base to stand my Smoothies in (I used clear varnish on inside to seal it, brought some £1 wood frames for Mr B’s certificates & took them home to Briwax them (blimming hard work & painful but worth it as they look nice).
Finally carpet was fitted, but then I crashed for what seemed like forever, but I pulled myself together to move forward & it’s taken me 3 days to bring everything from Spare room (with Mr B’s help) & put computer & craft stash back in (although slightly better arranged than before). Ho Ho Ho, you should have seen the spare room, Santa would have got lost in there & there was no room to swing a mouse never mind a cat – not that I have the inclination to swing a cat or a mouse; Lol. It has been extremely hard work but I finally completed this study/craft room yesterday whoopee!!!Lol
LAINE; Do not fret ‘your Highness’ the recently decorated spare room is now back to immaculate, could swing an elephant in there now if I had the desire or the strength to do so, & ready for your arrival in April; how many alias’s is that now? – Lorraine, Laine, Thelma, your Highness; Lol. Speaking of Ally Pally in April my friend, I have been given the dates & Mr B has some time off work then, but as they are not yet made public until January 2016 it may not be appropriate for me to disclose them on the Blog so would you, that is if you still want to come & stay, please email Sue with your permission for her to send me your email address & I will do the same for mine; that way I can give you the dates & we can exchange any info needed. Hope you are still able to stay, I know it is a long way for you but it would be nice to think I am able to potentially fulfil one of your dreams, if not then please just let us know in your comment my friend. Sincerely pray that your uncle is improving daily & I will keep him in my thoughts & prayers. Love ‘n’ (((HUGS))) x x x

  60. Sorry Sue I sincerely hope that you do not mind me placing my comments into a space of two I have so much to write & catch up on x x x
I have on occasion been able to read a little of the comments on my cell phone but it was a long process & alas it won’t allow me to leave any comments so I would like to say Congratulations to all of the cards & comment winners, you are so going to love Sue’s exceptional, magnanimous (noble) gifts x x x
MELODY, FRANCIS, Molly & family I reach out my heartfelt thoughts & prayers to you all during an extremely difficult time for you. I sincerely hope that you receive the answers that will help you to go forward with whatever treatment Francis will need to improve his poorly health. Bless you all for the love, strength & courage you have for each other, may it continue to see you through. Love ‘n’ (((HUGS))) x x x
TRACEY STILL; my heartfelt thoughts & prayers reach out to you also my friend, so sorry that I wasn’t there to comment when you first received the sad news of your cancer, wish it had been better news for you but you are also showing tremendous positivity & courage & thankfully you have a lot of support from people close to you as well as from all of us here on Sue’s blog. Take care & good luck with every step you will be taking. Love ‘n’ (((HUGS))) x x x
STEPHANIE; CONGRATULATIONS as first time, brand new Grandmother you must be over the moon...not only do we acquire many aliases as parents i.e. Mrs cook, cleaner, bottle washer etc etc there’s sure to be more as grandma; Lol enjoy & hope the new family are well. (((HUGS))) x x x
I’m sincerely sorry my friends if I have missed out on anyone who has been going through a rough time for whatever reason, but it will take me a month of Sundays to catch up on almost 3 weeks of comments, so without further ado for those who need & for those who have recently needed I send you basketsful of heartfelt Love ‘n’ (((HUGS))) & I will keep you in my thoughts & prayers x x x
To my dear friends, MARIA, LYNDA, YVONNE, LAINE; (hope I haven’t missed anyone else x x x) thank you for missing me it really means a lot to me, I have missed you too & all of our wonderful family of caring Wilsonettes. Love ‘n’ (((HUGS))) to you all x x x & special hugs & sincere appreciation & gratitude to our tremendously extraordinary SUE for your daily gems, so many wonderful & breathtaking cards & video demos I had to look forward to x x x
PS LYNDA I tried to set up a Blog with Google BlogSpot but didn’t get very far for some reason I wasn’t very successful, don’t know how you managed to do one but would it be okay to take you up on your offer later my friend & email you for HELP!!! Lol & do you need to ask permission to link other blogs/websites etc onto your own; I’m sure that’s certain to be a yes. Speak to you later my friend & thank you x x x
I will close for now my friends take care to you Sue & to one & all. Love ‘n’ (((HUGS))) Beth B x x x

Well done on reaching the 5500 followers, quite an achievement - is it just me who wonders why more don't comment?
Sorry to have missed John's shows, he's such a good demonstrator.
Tracy - you can only keep strong for so long, Wednesday is nearly here so sending good calming wishes up to bonnie Scotland. Feel the vibes!
Melody - do hope Milly is okay, my Spice ginger boy has to go to vets tomorrow and feeling anxious (with good reason). Poor Molly - such temptations - hope she gets back to the blog soon now her Dad has sorted things.

Today has been a wonderful sunny day down here in Somerset. My friend Maureen & I enjoyed a leisurely stroll around the back lanes of West Huntspill with our walking group. I tend to find that we walk further on a pleasant day than one where it is slightly chilly/rainy/windy.
Lovely to see you back commenting Beth, I have missed your friendly chat the last 3 weeks. Congratulations on finishing your room, now enjoy it.

  133. hello Sue and all readers all over the world. I only found out the excisting of die cutting and embossing machines and started to look on You Tube for inspiration. My favorite 'teacher'oa is Sue. Not only the nice ideas but also the tips she gives are very usefull and helps me to understand more about the possibilities. This card I will make with a backing of my favorite colour pale lilac. But first I have to make another 15 Christmas cards with the wonderfull Angel, floating (?) on acetate, also a nice idea from you Sue, you used a sentiment on the acetate and that gave me the idea to use the angel. And so every time I see your tutorials, it is like a little gift. Thanks and greetings to everybody, Piety

  137. Good evening Sue and the lovely Wilsonettes!

I can just about distinguish each colour used on today's little gem, I think that I could appreciate it better in person though...ever thought about doing random Monday giveaways Sue?.....failing that, I decided to splash out on the textured linen EF, along with some acetate, card and a couple of dies, so that I could recreate this beauty for myself. I love the colour combination, just finished a card in taupe in fact, it's a beautiful shade, so rich and warm. I've lusted after this EF since you did the floating sentiment card some time ago and since I bought the Just a Note die on Saturday I thought that the next logical step would be to complete the necessary elements.
Went to Pets at Home today to get the babies their favourite packet food- also bought the third harness for Brodie in the vain hope that it would prove impossible to escape from. We tried one for a small dog then exchanged it for the medium but it looked so uncomfortable and it's a good job that I don't suffer from bladder weakness because I almost wet myself with laughter watching him walk like John Wayne after soiling himself:-) So we decided to get a cat one....stroke of genius on my part.....confident in our choice we took it home and proceeded to road test it on Brodie. Having neglected to look at the diagram we tried to attach it upside down much to Brodies horror, then, realising our mistake we managed to get his head squeezed through but couldn't extend it wide enough to cover his girth. By this stage he was well and truly traumatised so we conceded defeat. You don't like to think of your baby as being on the large/hefty side but I am beginning to wonder if he needs to go on a calorie controlled diet or whether he is just 'big boned'? We were warned that Bengals can be large cats but any bigger and you could put a small saddle on him:-) Well, back to the drawing board...
Welcome back dearest Beth, boy have a missed you over the past few weeks, I was beginning to fear for your or Lauren's well being but luckily all is well and you've only been redecorating for my impending visit. How appropriate you refer to me as 'Highness', my family have often called me a diva with grandiose pretentions, but there's nothing wrong with having standards:-)
I was a little daunted by the journey to your neck of the woods, some 4 train changes but I reckon if I fly to Birmingham first then get a train to the Kettering/Northampton area it might just be doable, what do you think? I'll contact Sue giving my permission to pass on my details honey, so fingers crossed. Wish I lived close to CE HQ too, but I reckon I would be quickly bankrupted and a restraining order would follow!xxx
Big hugs to Yvonne, Tracey, Theresa, Rebecca and all of my blog buddies, particularly Molly , Francis, Milly and Melody, hope you get some good news at the hospital and vets this week, thinking of youxxx

    Love and crafty hugs

Lorraine, I thought Brodie was a dog!!! A friend of ours has Bengals and I've heard they can be a real handful but wow, are they beautiful! I'd love to see a picture too. I did think that travelling to Northants by train would be quite a journey and an internal flight would be much less tiring. I hope you do manage to get it all sorted out xxx

Txcowgirl, Melody, sending light, hugs and hope to you both and your families xxx

Quite a day today. Got worn out talking on the phone to the finance team at the council about my direct payments. They couldn't understand that if you don't put all the information in a letter then people will phone up to ask... apparently I'm just supposed to know. I've only been doing this a year and it's my first financial review. That fact seemed to pass them by. Had a shower this evening and just about made it to the end of the football before falling asleep so I'd been awake 10 hours! Slept for 2 1/2 hrs before being woken up by Billy who was starting to cross his paws! He's sound now. After I've had meds and supper and he's done his business we have a cuddle then he's off to his chair, now upside down, folded between the chair arms with his legs and paws in kangaroo pose.

Off to bed myself now so sending hugs to each and every one of you. There's plenty extra if they're needed and Billy is always available for kisses and cuddles! Have a terrific Tuesday, enjoy you crafting and hopefully I'll see you soon.

  151. Laine, So Brodie is a Bengal huh?! That explains so much (behavior, strength, determination, size, personality, orneriness)! I first read about them at least 15 years ago and fell in love. I looked into getting one and at that time, they were selling for a minimum of $1000 plus travel expenses. That put it completely out of the realm of possibility for me. Then about 9 years ago, through a friend of a friend of a friend, I found out about some people (who only lived about 70 miles away) who had opened their front door one night to a cat yeowling. There stood this beautiful cat who they later discovered & confirmed was a Bengal. They put up notices in the neighborhood, in the daily papers and vet's offices, but no one came forward, which was a huge shocker given the rarity and expense of a Bengal. Turned out she was also pregnant! They and the vet assumed she had been impregnated after getting lost from her original home. Well, that wasn't true either as she had a litter of 5 pure-bred Bengals. So where she came from remained a mystery. When I first heard about it, the kittens had yet to be born, so we didn't know- but I figured I'd get part Bengal and that was good enough for me. This couple had fallen for the mama cat and knew they would be keeping her. They had a waiting list of people who wanted the kittens and they were going to sell them for $250 each which included all their first shots & veterinary visits etc. I was 5th on the list. Mama had 5! I was so excited! They were planning on keeping kittens with mama for 3 months before they would go to their new homes, but kept me updated with pictures & emails. The first 4 people on the list lived closer so they visited and chose which kitten would eventually be theirs. I was happy to get whoever was left. Then there was a setback when they had a family member decide he wanted one and since i was the last to get on the list, mine would go to him instead. Color me sad :( Fortunately, a couple days later, the woman I had been conversing with called & told me she had convinced her father-in-law that he didn't really want the responsibility of a cat and he changed his mind. Color me happy :) Kittens were about 2 weeks old by this time. I asked her if she would please start holding my kitten upside down in her arms like you hold a baby so he would get used to it. I'd had success doing that in the past with kittens - not so much with adult cats, lol! She was happy to oblige and only did it with him (the other humans hadn't made that request). The day finally arrived that I was going to pick him up and of course I was very excited! I got a call from her that morning and she was in tears as she told me they couldn't give him up. Even though they had fallen madly in love with him over the weeks, they thought they could part with him because they had promised me. But when it came down to it, she said it felt like they would be giving away a member of their family. They didn't have any trouble parting with the other 4, just him. She said it was the holding him upside down like a baby that had made them fall so in love with him! I was devastated, but what could I do? I completely understood how strongly you can bond with an animal. She offered to keep sending me pics - but I said I thought it would be easier for me if they didn't. I wished them well and that was the last of it. I was upset for a while but decided I was just not meant to share my life with a Bengal. I'm at peace with that completely, but that doesn't stop me from admiring them all the same! Beautiful animals. Lively, smart & ornery! Which is why, Laine, you having a Bengal is perfect match! Oh and btw, I'm sure Brodie is just big boned vs being overweight! :-) Rc
